It is hard to give them up at first but the more you do it, the easier it gets. Especially when you see how happy they come to be in their new homes and how much happiness they bring their new families.

I am ending up placing my mom in nursing home care. :verymad:

I'm sorry to hear that, man. >_< Still, sometimes it has to be done.

I know, but still. The main problem is that she isn't really taking good careof herself. Her blood sugar level this morning was at a count of 27. Not good at all. The upside is that where she will be staying I will be able to visit a whole lot more often since we will be in the same town.

Sorry to hear that, hopefully it's a nice place. I'm sure it will help her to have you nearby!

Deadly: If that's your Fallout 2 image they displayed, it looks great.

Guard Dog: I'm glad to hear that you're doing better and have the bills paid. I know you're still smarting from your accident, but at least you sound more upbeat. As far as socialization, you certainly get along with folks around here, even folks of differing opinions.

GD, dude, your back to kicking ass and naming names. Hot damn!

Hey, Jesse, that's awesome, man! I'm jealous. Well, if I ever worked with photoshop I'd be jealous. Might as well be jealous of Gandalf from where I'm sitting. Nice work, bro.

Hi all... long time no post. A lot has happened lately, too much to get into. But today I paid off all my medical bills, all my credit cards, and all of my outstanding debt. Except for my mortgage and regular monthly bills (electric, satellite, etc) I dont owe a penny to anyone. That is a GREAT feeling. I hooked up with another dog rescue group that is based in Millington. This weekend I'm getting my first foster dog since 2007. Supposedly this one (she is in animal control in Murfeesboro) has socialization issues. That is one problem I do know how to solve in dogs. I can't solve it in myself but I can fix it in dogs.

Good to hear. I am on the same road, almost. Just replace medical bills with college loans.

How do you solve socialisation issues in dogs?

You teach the dog the values of capitalism. o:)

Sorry, bad joke.

Yup, Gorgon is right. The first thing you do is make sure they are comfortable with you. The best way to accomplish that is by long leash walks and fun activities like playing ball, etc. Plus exercise goes a long way to lowering their anxiety level. Once they are ready you bring other dogs into the mix and let them play together in a "neutral" environment (in my case my front yard, my dogs don't have access to it). When they are comfortable playing with the others you just let them join the rest of your dogs full time. It usually takes a couple of days assuming the foster dog does not have aspirations of dominance. If they do then it takes longer and is a little more complicated, but not much. I've done it many times and it has never failed to work. Most of the dogs I have now were behavioral problems from the rescue I worked with back in Florida and just ended up keeping.

In the end, the ones best qualified to help dogs are other dogs. No one can understand them better.

That is a bummer. I know that has to be very hard for both of you. But you making sure she has the best quality of life possible, and sometimes that means making hard decisions like this one.

I had to look after a friend's dog, and it was freaking out after a few hours. He wouldn't let me near him. So I lay down on the floor and went to sleep. When I woke up he was cuerled up next to me and has been happy ever since. He'll even run to me in the street on his own initiative. Although I agree that playing a lot with him, running around on all fours so you're nearer their level also helps.

A girl in my class attacked me today.

I would also like to caution you all against trying to build a fence in rain, wind, and hail.

I'm really having difficulty finding the coorelation between these two thoughts. It's bringing up lots of questions but I'll boil it down to one. Was she good looking?

Or maybe she was building a fence and he summoned rain, wind and hail against her.

She attacked meith her hands. She is not in my opinion good looking, but I tend to think less of people after they attack me. There wasn't a correlation between the two things.

Also, I have not yet mastered the summoning of rain, wind, and hail.

Practising your fence summoning is a good start I suppose. I'm trying to weasel my way out of having to go to Brisbane next week and get some annual leave instead. I need some sleep :o
