Magister Lajciak Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 HDDs are large these days, so I don't think 20GB will be a problem. I have a question about graphics cards requirements. I have a very respectable graphics card NVIDIA 9800GTS... but it is the mobile version, since I use a notebook. I am still sure it exceeds the minimum requirements, but does it reach the recommended requirements?

taks Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 under 1% of all programmers know parallel programming... some stuff is referred to as "embarrassingly parallel" and as such, knowing how to program for parallel processing is not really necessary (only superficially). the simple fact that much (if not most) of the graphics processing is done on a separate processor is testament to the inherent parallelization of games, and the ability of programmers to do it, even if they aren't obviously aware of the details under the hood. ^Maria: you are not allowed to ever mention that store again without making them put one in colorado. taks comrade taks... just because.

fastpunk Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Dunno if anyone read that recent DA:O E3 preview from Rock Paper Shotgun, the one that wasn't very positive. Well, now you can see for yourself what RPS' John Walker saw (or at least part of it). Hope you're in the mood for luv... http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=...8654&ref=mf Gotta say, the voice acting is awful. I'm still on the fence about this game, will probably wait until it's out, read some impressions on forums before making a decision. HoonDing Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 (edited) Honestly, after watching it I can't see what the whole fuzz is about. Hard to judge any of that without context. It's the culmination of a romance plot, obviously it's going to stink when one hasn't experienced the whole development. Romeo & Juliet at the balcony is also corny when one only focuses on that one scene. Seemed to me the delivery of that Morrigan was deliberate - maybe she's supposed to be the powerful, but socially awkward sorceress. *shrug* Also, seems the dragon lady is voiced by Captain Janeway. Edited June 18, 2009 by virumor The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Ughhhhhhnnnn that flirting dialogue is awful, and not only that it's a completely awkward 180 degree tonal shift from the conversation from 10 seconds before. VO work for the two young women are pretty bad. I don't know how they've done it, but Bioware has taken me from pretty hyped for this game to dreading it
WILL THE ALMIGHTY Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 That was awful. First thing I do if I ever buy the game is kill Morrigan so I never hear her voice again. "Alright, I've been thinking. Azure79 Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 The voiceovers seem stilted, inflections seem off and there is pausing at awkward places. I was hoping for a more interesting story than 'every so many years the demon reawakens and gathers his army and tries to destroy the world.' I hope the story is more interesting on a personal level for your PC.

Wrath of Dagon Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Really it wasn't that bad. Morrigan's VO is a little weird in places, and there's an uncanny valley problem, but for a video game it's fine. "Moral indignation is a standard strategy for endowing the idiot with dignity." Marshall McLuhan
alanschu Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Morrigan's voice is fine IMO, and fits her character pretty well. The complete lack of context makes that video seem particularly cheesy (though her lines specifically at that point are quite cheesy regardless).

alanschu Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 (edited) If the VA is actually an english woman that's pretty sad. I find this funny. So if the voice actor is actually English with an actual accent due to where she was raised, you find it sad that it doesn't meet your expectations of an English accent? It'd kind of be like someone saying that my Canadian accent sounds fake, despite the fact that I am, you know...Canadian. And yes, I have had people say they're surprised because my accent doesn't sound like other "Canadian" accents they've heard. (FTR I have no idea who did the voice acting for Morrigan).
