Ended up writing 5,000 words of notes... not much incentive to work when it's Christmas Eve and people ar ethrowing candy all over the place, if they haven't left already. I'll post some stuff for you guys to devour when it's all a bit better organised. From my past abortive attempts I know that I often plan too many elaborate and complicated things when I'm a coding newb, so probably have to wield the axe a lot here. GD & DR - reading up on what you guys've been doing is what's rekindled me fire again, good on y'all. Unfortunately I'm not going to use FR (it's too hard to work with lore when you're so blind on it... and I use a very different conception of Orcs), but it will be fantasy. Just came back home on the stroke of midnight (Christmas here already, folks) and writing the parents' card. Woop. That's good to know, Tig. Can't wait to see what you'll come up with The lore bit is actually tricky. The first project I tried to document in the forums was actually a new setting (anecdotal aside - it all came from a nightmare I once had; in fact, most of my game ideas come from that same source), but the amount of time required to develop the necessary art assets would be terrible for one single person. Specially for me, since I'm an ignorant dolt on nearly all the fields required to do something of the magnitude I had hoped for (from skyships used as floating prisons, to flintlocks fueled by magical ammunition, to have player characters transform into dragons, and so on). Besides, as I developed more of the setting I came to realize that using the Forgotten Realms as a basis wouldn't be far fetched; it's pretty much out there in terms of planes, creatures and events. And there's a whole lot of lore you can track down (particularly online), from world atlas and timelines to important events and stuff. You can then fill in the blanks with your ideas. That is pretty much the vantage point of D&D carried over to NWN and NWN2 - the rules are there for whatever we want to do with them. Of course, I realize you're going with a homebrew setting; I'm not trying to change your mind about it, just providing some friendly chatter Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I basically got an assortment of clothing items and I got my mobile 1 TB porn collector 9001 deluxe delivered yesterday which I initially thought were the shoes I ordered considering the thing took literally less than 24 hours to ship. The thing is absolutely gorgeous but I'm going to wait to try her on for tomorrow. Movies, pr0n, anime, pr0n, non gay pr0n, extra non gay pr0n, funnies pictures I've collected from the internets, pr0n I've collected from the internets, and various other files relating to pr0n and other pr0n like things. My friend is also going to let me borrow fallout 3 and then after his bro finishes fable 2 I'll probably borrow that as well from him. Then tomorrow I will hopefully awake to a nice cup of coffee and some sausage, hashbrowns, and eggs. Should be nice. There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. I was up till 3am last night because I couldn't sleep and I had to get up at 7am to shovel snow for 4 driveways. We had about 20 centimetres last night before it warmed up and turned to rain about 6am. By the time I got out there the snow was completely water logged and really freakin' heavy. Thankfully the snowblower decided to start up this morning so that wasn't too bad. After that I went out and picked up a last minute Christmas gift for my little brother and finally got all of my gifts wrapped and put under the tree. I then spent the rest of the day trying to stay awake because I knew that if I had a nap, I'd never get to sleep tonight. Didn't work out too well because I'm actually more awake now than at any other point today. 7pm rolled around and I checked out the Boxing Day sales at NCIX online mainly to see how badly their servers got hit (pretty damn badly). Didn't intend on ordering anything, but I pointed out a few deals to my dad and he decided to throw together an entire computer. It is indeed, and this time I'm just going with "FR Derivative", so that I (and the player) can assume FRness, except for specific points in which it differs. I think that's the best way for me - I have no talent with art assets either so I can just use stock NWN2 stuff, but I don't have to read up on lore. I'm thinking I need to wait until my copy of SOZ gets here, which might be a while. Playing a couple of recent Hall of Fame mods to see what's out there. Christmas is pretty much over for me now, had a decent day with lots of people. No fancy stuff. I think my one gift is a kettle. I was browsing through a backup DVD and found several videogame writeups I had made along the years, and a score of writings I never finished. In the meantime, when I finished my contributions to the latest number of the Spectrum Games Bible, I was browsing Lulu for other books and landed on their publishing page. Suffice to say, I was wondering if I managed to scrounge the time to finish these writings and whip a few new ones, it dawned on me that I could take a stab at publishing this sensibly and intelligently written crap material, although the costs of the deal seem too rich for me at this point. I couldn't figure out its number or how to activate it for about 20 minutes, then we called to activate it, messed up and got sent to the stupidest customer service rep I've ever had to deal with, I was on hold for a total of 20 minutes, I had to repeat every number I gave her three times, I had to fight with her over my birthday, and then she gave me a number in the wrong area code.
