This is just sad...

Instead of lethal injection, why not use a 9mm hollow-point to the back of the skull. No need to find a vein.

some states have multiple methods i think (or used to), usually it is in the constitution (state version) which to use so they can't just switch unless there are options.

I'd say we build a giant supermax prision underground in the middle of interior Alaska. The prisioners will be confined to an 8X8 cell with no windows 24-7-365. They never leave their cells. They can receive no mail, no reading material, no TV or entertainment of any kind. They can recieve no visitors and take all meals through a slot in the door so they never see each other. And the lights will be on at all times so there will be no sense of day or night or any way to measure the passage of time. Then we take all death row inmates, transfer them there to live out their natural lives and abolish the death penalty.

Anyone have a problem with that idea?

Why not just let him rot in jail, like in civilised countries.

And how is that justice for his victims who are dead?

Um, isn't the fact that he's in prison justice, or do you really mean vengeance? That feeling that the world is a better place because a bad guy is dead?

The only just punishment for premeditated murder is death.

I don't know why there is a problem using a bullet to the head. A single bullet is dirt cheap compared to the chair, lethal injection and other form of execution.

A big stack of firewood with a match thrown in even cheaper. For that matter, so's a piece of sharpend steel, and that performs quite admirably.

That feeling that the world is a better place because a bad guy is dead?

So you're saying that the world wouldn't be a better place if say... the guy who stabbed a sleeping passenger on a bus in the neck repeatedly, cut off his head, and ate parts of his corpse... was dead?

It still bothers me that 35 passengers saw the guy do it, the cops saw him do it, and they still refer to him as "The Accused" and that he "allegedly" did it in the press.

The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.

I'm shocked and amazed at some of you people (my buddy Oerwinde especially) who think "executing" these people would be for the betterment of society.

These fat criminals are still real, living people with vast amounts of untouched biomass. Fuel is is short supply and gas prices just keeping going up!

We need to preserve resources by spontaneously combusting these people so that we - the good folk - can eek out our existence with a little extra warmth and MPG.

No of course it wouldn't. One less person in the world doesn't make it a better place. It might feel better, but the feeling is temporary and it isn't true anyway.
