Congrats to the guy but he sounds like he's missing a chromosomes. There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.

Morgoth Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Can't say I hate McDonalds but there are better (and cheaper) alternatives. Living in Austria gives you access to a wide range of delicious food, so McDonalds never really had that appeal to me. Rain makes everything better.

taks Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 i always thought the super-size me story was moronic. you can't consume 5000 calories a day without exercise and not expect to gain weight, even if all 5000 of those calories are "healthy." i really wish mickey dee's could have sued that idiot for defamation. taks comrade taks... just because.
Tale Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I never saw that movie. Was it at least hilarious? "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
LostStraw Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I'm really not sure how the movie could even be considered close to defamation Am I remembering it wrong? And the guy eating only healthy meals from McDonalds -- I'm really not sure what that has to do with the movie either. From what I recall the movie was about eating junk food from McDonalds in excesive amounts to see what would happen (and the expected occured). I don't believe it ever claimed that McDonalds makes you fat. Perhaps someone could enlighten me?

Meshugger Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Bleh, McDonalds and similars are serving junkfood. All these "Look how little calories/fat/salt they contain to comparable choices"-junk is just that, junk. Red meat, milk, potatoes, chicken, fish, fruits and vegetables (prepared by yourself) and some exercise and you'll be fine. qt3.14159 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I actually lose weight when I eat a lot of McDonalds... of course, that's usually because I start going there when my stomach is messed up and the only thing that sounds palatable is their little hamburgers & small fries. When I'm in that mode, I usually can't even finish what I buy and end up throwing away part of it. I do adore their breakfast burritos, though... and their fries... especially a little overcooked (extra crunchy) with salt/pepper & hot mustard sauce... yum! Anybody here catch that? All I understood was 'very'.
Omelette Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 People making poor chocies makes people's fat. Thank you! Not McDonald's fault you choose to buy a fattening Big Mac and then proceed to wash it down with a tub of fries. Well, good for that guy in the article, too. Though I heard that if you put the dressing on one of their salads, it has as many calories as a Big Mac.
Walsingham Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I have long intended to make a film called 'Cover me in fudge sauce and chocolate sprinkles' It won't in fact be porn, but the tale of how I eat nothing but food from Baskin Robbins, the icecream people, for 30 days. And become very very fat. To slim down I intend an equally popular sequel where I am chased through the woods of Connecticut by live roleplayers armed with porcupines on sticks. "It wasn't lies. L0L LONG LIVE MCDONALD'S AND IT'S TASTY AND HEALTHY FOOD!!! No, you're the exception that proves the fact. Not fatal flaw that debunks it. Gaining weight is weird process that is unique to everyone. People with very fast metabolism (I know few) have hard time if they want to get obese - and you're part of this small(er) group. Of course very fast metabolism has its negative sides in it too... And then there are these weird cases. Some people (or maybe all, I'm not sure) can start to gain weight (not just muscle mass mind you) from exercising too. But it is statistical fact that junkfood fattens people. It is unhealthy and poor food which shouldn't be eaten too often. Once a week would be the ideal frequency for average person. ( Of course not eating at all would be even better option, heh) If every single fastfood chain and shop was closed down at this very moment for all eternity in following years sick overweightness would start to drop dramatically. And that is fact. You give humongous power to human beings when it comes to making decisions like these, power they don't have. What meshugger said FTW. I find it ludicruous some people like you and taks would go and start to lambasting Supersize Me based on this or the fact it exaggarates the process to make the very important point. Only "sin" that flick has exaggaration of the eating habits at hand, nothing else. What movie shows and speaks is truth. And, lol, McDonald's doesnb't have to 'lobby' anyone to be successful. They're successful cause they sell what people want to buy. In fact, it's the lobbyists who have forced these palces to chnage their menus to be 'more helathy'. Question: If you want to eat healthy why are you going to a fast food joint? Seriously. And, no, don't claim that I put undue stress on health industries 'cause the last time I've been to the hospital was when I was a kiddie. random n00b Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 But it is statistical fact that junkfood fattens people. If you make this kind of statement, you must be prepared to drown all opposition in a ****load of statistics that back you. And, for all its comical value, "Supersize ME" proves jack, from a statistical standpoint. It's false, too. "Junkfood" in controlled amounts and otherwise healthy habits will not make you fat. Your arteries, heart, liver, etc might not be too happy about it, but that's an entirely different issue. If every single fastfood chain and shop was closed down at this very moment for all eternity in following years sick overweightness would start to drop dramatically. And that is fact.Obesity didn't start with the onset of Mcfood. It wouldn't end if you removed it, either. Unhealthy eating habits have found a way of materialising in fast food restaurants, but being fat is a choice, 99% of the time. Xard Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 (edited) "But it is statistical fact that junkfood fattens people" It's a statistical fact that it fattens some people. Not all. Nice try, though. Are you playing dumb? Statistics include irregularities. Fast food does make most people fat. It would make even you but since I don't know you any better I don't know just how much would you have to eat. And, lol, McDonald's doesnb't have to 'lobby' anyone to be successful. I was a bit unclear. I didn't mean McDonalds as I was speaking about whole junkfood "industry". I'm talking about big shots who fight for having ****ty, unhealthy food in schools which's effect have been catastrophal especially in England. They're successful cause they sell what people want to buy. Aahh, but WHY people want to buy? And why nowadays the business is so much bigger and its results more damaging? What is it that leads people into mindlessly consuming junkfood by mass day after day? And why overall situation is so different now than it used to be? In fact, it's the lobbyists who have forced these palces to chnage their menus to be 'more helathy'. Nothing wrong with this kind of lobbying as it is based on true, studied and tested scientific knowledge and common sense instead of done for money and business deals by greedy businessment with questionable means including censoring and spreading false imago etc. something tobacco industry has mastered aeons ago. Question: If you want to eat healthy why are you going to a fast food joint? Seriously. Give good thought for those questions I posed earlier. Answers encompass this. If i want greasy fries, let me have greasy fries. I'm not hurting anyone. Nobody's taking your fries away from you. And, no, don't claim that I put undue stress on health industries 'cause the last time I've been to the hospital was when I was a kiddie. Of course this doesn't mean you haven't had need or should've gone to hospital. And one individual doesn't cause stress on health industries. Causes are the slumbering, overweight masses that grow day after day. Super Size Me is a myth because it proves soemthing on the basis that nobody eats McD to the extreme that he does in the movie. All it does are exaggarating to cause greatest effect. It helped to spread thinking among people who had previously somewhat knew junkfood wasn't healthy but then just shoveled the thought to some dark corner of their minds. Not to mention it helped to deal with gargantual megalunches which no sane human would naturally want to eat and which exist only to make easy money. Edit: "Deal with" aka making them disappear from the market Nobody just eats McD'S, and just the fattest foods available eitehr. Wrong, there's people like this. That's why it's flawed. And like Gorgon already said, you missed the point of the movie. Edited June 23, 2008 by Xard How can it be a no ob build. It has PROVEN effective. Your arteries, heart, liver, etc might not be too happy about it, but that's an entirely different issue. Well duh, of course it is in controlled amounts ok. Problem is in modern era more and more people drift to eating it way too often - and way too often isn't even close to Supersize ME level wackiness. Other effects you mentioned alone are good reason why there should be campaigns against junkfood. Nope, it didn't start and I never said that. Outside world largerly affects how much easier it is to make "wrong" choice in this kind of thing. Using drugs is choice too. It doesn't mean we should let our surroundings to get into state where making "wrong" choice instead of "right" choice is propabilistically higher and higher with each passing year. There are countless ways how our modern western lifestyle, merchandising, brands and all that jazz affects people and lead them to junkfood places they wouldn't otherwise go. "See Volourn's "HEALTHY JUNKFOOD" part for quick reference" It's called 'tongue in cheek'. Of course, I know junk food isn't healthy. I mean, LOL, that's why it's called junk food. I just don't care. Let me it eat. My body cna handle it. I don't need to hear the whining about the evils of junk food. I have no doubt I have one of the unhealthiest diets around yet I'm one of the healthiest people I know depsite being rather skinny (according to the silly fat index charts).
