Atreides Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Hey which dev did the bard challenge at Blacklake? The last part was really satisfying ^____________^ Spreading beauty with my katana.
kirottu Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Just finished it as warlock. Or perhaps I should say just finished it with Khelgar, because he was the only one left standing. At third battle against KoF all other characters died in the beginning, because of those negative/cold wave thingies. So Khelgar was left to destroy all the statues and then KoF. Khelgar This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
kalimeeri Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I'm on a 2nd run through the game, and I'm kinda surprised at how different some scenes have turned out so far. I'm still in Act I, but I have a new respect for druids after taking Elanee along in Duskwood, and the battle at Lord Tavorick's estate changed when I saved the old geezer instead of letting him get killed. And I'm starting to get worried, because creepy Qara thinks I'm her new best friend. That aside, my PC build is pretty much the same--ranger/wizard/EK instead of ranger/sorc/EK--but I took a page out of Light of Heavens book and this one is much harder to hit. (As Lorne kept screaming, 'stay still so I can hit you'--LOL). The manual messed me up the first time, because I believed it when it said the ranger/spellcaster levels had to be equal before taking that prestige class--the game itself begs to differ.
Dark_Raven Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 She probably did until she pried his bling-bling Order of the Long Gloves from his cold, dead hands before leaving his carcus to rot in the desolate Wastes of Cania. Only way to do it. As Lilacor says, "Murder! Death!! KILL!!!" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Sand Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 You know, they should make an entire ensemble of equipment that is intelligent. An intelligent shield, helm, armor, boots, cloak, gloves, rings, belt, and weapon. Each one with their own distinct personality, voice set, and disposition. Also they should make it that they all hate each other. :D Murphy's Law of Computer Gaming: The listed minimum specifications written on the box by the publisher are not the minimum specifications of the game set by the developer. @\NightandtheShape/@ - "Because you're a bizzare strange deranged human?" Sand Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Rogue trooper? Anyway, I got a spider companion now . I hope Duncan has room for her. :D Murphy's Law of Computer Gaming: The listed minimum specifications written on the box by the publisher are not the minimum specifications of the game set by the developer. @\NightandtheShape/@ - "Because you're a bizzare strange deranged human?" Spider Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Rogue Trooper is a scinece fiction comic from 2000AD. It's about a genetically enhanced soldier and when his mates die their mind is downloaded to a microchip that is then inserted in various equipment. So he's accompanied by his trusty friends Gun, Helmet and Backpack. They made a shooter of it recently, but I don't know if it's any good. The comic was pretty cool though. As for your spoiler, you're going to have to wait a bit longer.
Tigranes Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Yeah, that would be cool. Pity all we ever got was Lilacor. Actually, Lilacor was pretty darn cool, if you never talked to him and just let him banter fromt ime to time. ramza Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 (edited) There was another sentient weapon in HotU. I liked both of them though... It was just as having another Minsc in your party... Sand Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Well, I am now officially stuck. Doing the whole trial by combat thing and there is no way I can defeat Lorne. Tried it with Khelgar several times. Dead. Tried it with my wizard several times. Dead. I guess I have to start over with a more combat oriented character. Volourn Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Hmm.. he was easy and I used Kheglar whose as combat orinted as a character can be. Just hack away, and run around in circles while he chases you. Don't eb afraid to drink healing potions. This is one of (ok only place) where I felt the need to drink 2 heal potions. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
Sand Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I do drink the healing potions. He still kills me. Dark_Raven Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Console some better weapons and armor. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Volourn Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Even full heals? if so, can't help ya. Did you try 'chetaing'; by prebuffing before the fight or does the cutscenes inbetween remove all buffs? If not try yoruy character if a spellcaster (or Elanee as I think she offers to fight for you, I think or is that Shandra) and cast hold type spells since his will save isn't that impressive. That way, you cna hold him for rounds on end. Heh. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
aVENGER Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Well, I am now officially stuck. Doing the whole trial by combat thing and there is no way I can defeat Lorne. Tried it with Khelgar several times. Dead. Tried it with my wizard several times. Dead. I guess I have to start over with a more combat oriented character. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Note that Lorne is Frenzied Berserker and he has the "Deathless Frenzy" ability so you have to wait until it runs out before you can actually kill him. Remember the story about his duel with Cormik? Just run around and wait it out. An easy way to do it is to craft a Holy Greataxe +3 and give it to Khelgar along with some Strength enhancing gear and a few Haste potions. He'll rip him apart.
kormesios Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Well, I am now officially stuck. Doing the whole trial by combat thing and there is no way I can defeat Lorne. Tried it with Khelgar several times. Dead. Tried it with my wizard several times. Dead. I guess I have to start over with a more combat oriented character. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There's really no reason you shouldn't be able to win with Khelgar. Even if you've levelled him up poorly, you should be able to win after a few reloads or so. I don't know that re-starting is going to make things that much easier. Avenger's comment is important--the "Frenzied Beserker" thing can be annoying, and he keeps renewing it. So you either need to be patient and run, or hit him in between renewals (you'll see a little icon flash over his head when it wears off, IIRC).
jaguars4ever Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Hades, make sure all the power attack modes are toggled off so you can actually hit Lorne. You'll do less damage per hit, but you'll hit him much more consistently. Also, notice that your PC is still "in the party" even whilst Khelgar is in the ring. So all you have to do is transfer over that uber health elixer that Sand conjured up for you from your PC's inventory over to Khelgar's. :D (pause game-->select PC portrait-->type I-->drag potion and whatever else over Khelgar's portrait-->pimp Khelgar out with bling equipment (note: you can't change armors in a fight)-->unpause game) Voila!
Atreides Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Potion of speed is fine too. Spreading beauty with my katana.
jaguars4ever Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Definitely. Also, a Potion of Invisibility if you need to grind out the time for his Frenzied Beserker to wear off.
Tigranes Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Except half the creatures in the game have superspotchecks that see through invisibility... Gorth Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 It's like the Werewolf in bloodlines... except Lorne can actually be killed. As others have mentioned: The trick is to keep him occupied, running in circles or otherwise distract him until his immunity wears off. After that, Khelgar will make Lorne pick up his teeth with broken fingers, without getting into too much trouble. “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
Tigranes Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 The trick is having either high AC or regeneration, IMO. If you run around in circles Lorne will only hit you sometimes, and if you are hasted (or are a monk or have Dash feat), you'll outrun him enough to stop and take a potion every once in a while. I found him really difficult with a wizard, and eventually used Khelgar, with whom it was a piece of cake. Just carry some potions, then run around while Lorne's on superrage. Diamond Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 It's like the Werewolf in bloodlines... except Lorne can actually be killed. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's what I actually thought too. Anyway, I did it with Khelgar too. Also, you can cast stoneskin on him, it will not wear out as the script behind the cutscenes doesn't make you "rest".
