We only talk about Fallout

I have the ollllllllllllllllllld version of Jagged Alliance 2.  I think my install version is literaly 1.00 or maybe 1.01

A common patch I think was to 1.06!

Been a while since I played though, so I'm not too sure.

Yep. The final patch to the original Jag 2 was 1.07 which was the same as 1.06 except it fixed the dialogue files that 1.06 broke.

Here is your doorway to all things Jag: http://www.strategyplanet.com/jaggedalliance/

Notice how I can belittle your beliefs without calling you names. It's a useful skill to have particularly where you aren't allowed to call people names. It's a mistake to get too drawn in/worked up. I mean it's not life or death, it's just two guys posting their thoughts on a message board. If it were personal or face to face all the usual restraints would be in place, and we would never have reached this place in the first place. Try to remember that.

A fixing of friendly fire issues as well as some real control over henchies would have been a huge improvement too.

It sure would have, and they did a bit of work on it on F2 (not enough, by many people's measure), but from what I can gather from the Bible and such the original game was never meant to have any part members at all :( They started implementing it pretty late in development. If the party system feels like an afterthought, that's because it was :(

No. Those were positive most of the time. The friendly fire was only a negative when it was due to poor AI; not because of circumstances.

NPCs shouldn't be controlled by a player in a CRPG. That is for strategy/tatical games.

The graphics in its day was damn good.  What do you expect, Astrocreep?  The graphics getting better as time goes on in a game made in the late 90's?

Excellent graphics I agree. A shame more 2D games are not made.

True. Nothing makes your day like having Marcus blow you to chunks with his mini gun.

I liked the firendly fire accidents. Made it more "real" somehow. Sounds silly, I know, but it made me think where I went, to avoid getting into crossfire between teammates and enemies. If just my team mates would have shown the same consideration every now and then :luck:

As for the control over team memmbers, FO2 got it exactly right for my taste. Give them general orders, limited by their personality and let them do their own thing. It felt like you and a party, Not you being a 7 headed hydra wielding 3 guns, 2 knives, 1 flamethrower & a gauss rifle at the same time.

Heaven forbid, Volo!

I agree with friendly fire - although the fact that Marcus wouldnt' think of moving ONE STEP out of the way before blatantly minigunning you in the back was kind of, no, really, stupid. Probably more of an AI issue.

Yeah, it really sucks when you don thave a save for the last 3 hours.

Friendly fire, sometimes your NPCs took it personaly and attacked you if you shot them Ian was good at that. He could accidently shoot you, but no you could not return the favor.

Did you guys actually play the game?

See the arrows.. see the combat speed option. I can't believe I reinstalled the game for that <_<.

I'm not making an argument that FO combat was good -- just pointing out the fallacy of the "having to wait" argument. On the fastest setting, turns were near instantaneous.

Do favor for me and play up to Reno and start a fight there at some of the casinos. That was freakishly slow, but I don

Would FRAPS be able to take a video of an older game like Fallout?

I guess I'd also need to dig up the old computer I played it on as well. Was it the P 166 or was the the K6-2/333

I can't remember :(

I couldn't see myself NOT turning it on, but I suppose it's possible.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure I did, as I do distinct guys running around really fast during their turns.

Though IIRC attack animations and projectiles still travelled at the normal speed.

The attact animations were still played at the normal speed, but none were really slow. The movement speed was what took up the majority of the time (if you didn't have the speed setting up).

I just died to some radscorpions :(

I remember the Regulators fight taking a long time, and for the most part it was just people standing their shooting at each other.

It was even worse if they happened to be missing each other a lot.

The real important question here is, how did you get a screenshot that came out? Mine always looks screwed up.

The only fast thing I have turned on is running. Walking is too slow.
