Nameless One Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 (edited) The DoomIII-is-in-the-future-so-they-should-have-flaslights-on-the-weapons-argument sucks. Big time. Saying that it's unrealistic is kind of...oh, hello Mr Fireballthrowing-Imp from hell, welcome to DOOM. Okay, a game should still be consistent in its own world, but it's not like the developers missed the whole mount-light-on-weapon-thing, it's a decision they made for the 'good' of the game (for the price of some inner-logic...but then again, the entire Doom-world seems to have some serious illumination-problems). The text above is just the long version of: I liked it that way. One of those silly opinons - ignore it. But the pictures... Anachronox' Fatima and Sly - tragedy Edited March 3, 2006 by Nameless One

Is it fun? The combat isn't very good but the story and writing are so awesome it's almost unbelievable. BattleCookiee Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 The combat isn't very good but the story and writing are so awesome it's almost unbelievable. No wonder. Made by the creators of Deus Ex...
Pidesco Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 If I had to choose between Anachronox and Deus Ex, I'd choose Anachronox every time... Nameless One Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Anachronox' Fatima and Sly - tragedy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ooo. that looks like a good game. Is it fun? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's light on the RPG-side (it is an RPG in a FinalFantasy kind of way) and heavy on the story and character (both western-style) side. It is often hilarious - in fact one of the funniest games - but nonetheless sometimes sad and tragic and emotional. It takes place in a cyber-punkish future but the character related parts of the story (and the characters themselves) would fit in a forties film-noir. Not flawless (patch it!), but creative and at the end one of those games you are sad that it's over.
metadigital Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 ION STORM!? Wow. For OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
Llyranor Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Yeah, Anachronox pretty much mops the floor with DX and craps on it. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
metadigital Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Hey! OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
Llyranor Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Then sleeps with DX' sister. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Nick_i_am Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 None of you want to see what they both did to Daikatana. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
metadigital Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Sounds like I'm going to enjoy this game ... :D OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
Llyranor Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Be forewarned, though, it's pretty much as JRPG-styled as you can get in terms of combat and non-interactive story. Only, with actual writing. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
metadigital Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 And complete sentences ..? OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
Nameless One Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Oh, and patch it. With the unofficial (but made by a former developer) ones. When you still encounter problems there is a near-death community on Planet-Anachronox. They know and they answer (or have already answered) but you might have to wait.
BattleCookiee Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Oh, and don't get scared of by the intro, which is only fun to watch for people aged 6 or lower (it scared me off...)
ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 It's a good intro to JRPGs. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327
alanschu Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 The combat isn't very good but the story and writing are so awesome it's almost unbelievable. No wonder. Made by the creators of Deus Ex... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm pretty sure it'd be more accurate to say it was made by the creators of Diakatana.

Diogo Ribeiro Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Whisky will do that to you if you're not used to it.
metadigital Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 wait what ... is it a good game or not? OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 wait what ... is it a good game or not? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd call it a good game with flaws. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327
