Dagon Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 (edited) What do you people think about this cRPG, are you looking forward to play this game after release? I am pretty excited of this game , it looks that it will bring classical elements of old RPG into the new, good looking graphics and new style of cRPGs . Edited January 19, 2006 by Dagon
Kaftan Barlast Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I dont have any expectations, Ive seen nothing on the game that would suggest its worth playing. Volourn Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 It looks to be a good Action RPG-Adventure. Definitely not a full fledge RPG that's for sure. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
J.E. Sawyer Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 The game's combat seems more suited for use with a console controller, but the role-playing opportunities seem to be pretty great from the videos I've seen. twitter tyme
Ellester Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Honestly I Life is like a clam. Years of filtering crap then some bastard cracks you open and scrapes you into its damned mouth, end of story. - Steven Erikson
Llyranor Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Might turn out good, but I'm not too impressed with their claims that they'll revolutionize the genre with old concepts. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Hurlshort Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 As Penny Arcade stated...it's not quite witchy enough. Actually it has really shaped up to be a beautiful looking game. It does seem a bit too much on the action-RPG side of the fence. Hopefully it will be a decent game, but I don't see it as revolutionary. My expectations are higher for NWN2 and Oblivion.
Archmonarch Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Ive been trying to get my hands on a fan-translation of the novels the game is based on, but so far no luck. There is no official English version, though the premise seems fairly interesting, despite its use of the elves and dwarves. And I find it kind of funny I find it kind of sad The dreams in which I'm dying Are the best I've ever had
Dagon Posted January 19, 2006 Author Posted January 19, 2006 (edited) I found somewhere one short story translated to english i'll post link here if i find it once again. I'm Polish so I'm pretty familiar with the setting and the novels , they are really great deeper than classical fantasy novels .more psychologic and darker. EDIT: Well here you can download the first The Witcher story it was written in 80's and it's not the best one but still it's worth reading Lesser Evil the tranlation is made by some fan ,so isn't perfect And there is also one short story set in th world of King Arthur to read here (in two parts) The Malady part I The Malady part II Edited January 19, 2006 by Dagon
Judge Hades Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Maybe they could do a cross platform thing on to the X Box. I mean it looks better than fable and X Box needs more CRPGs.
GhostofAnakin Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 It looks like one of those "I'll wait to see some user reviews first" type games. I'm keeping watch, but won't be buying until/unless it gets possitive reviews. "Console exclusive is such a harsh word." - Darque"Console exclusive is two words Darque." - Nartwak (in response to Darque's observation)
Judge Hades Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Agreed. When I first heard about it I thought it was a TC Mod for NWN.
Diogo Ribeiro Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 I saw one video where they showed off multiple ways the main character could solve a problem, but that was about it. All else seems standard action game with a couple of RPG elements, and a dash of hype.
GhostofAnakin Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 When I first heard about it I thought it was a TC Mod for NWN. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> At first, that's sort of what I thought. When I saw the first screenshots I thought it had something to do with NWN. Dhruin Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Caveat that until the game is released, we don't know if they will succeed or not. I would suggest that those that say it doesn't look like much of an RPG probably haven't looked into it much. I'm sceptical of the action combat but they've released far more specific information on elements like non-linearity, multiple solutions and quest choices than games most people are prepared to accept as an RPG sight unseen - such as NWN2, for example. If they can pull it off (and they are fairly well resourced) and assuming the combat isn't too overwhelming, it has a lot of potential. They took a silly line with their marketing but unfortunately, the hype is required. Even RPG fans that frequent an RPG developer's site don't look into a lot of RPGs - imagine how hard it is breaking through into the average gamers consciousness.
Nick_i_am Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Interesting enough. Polish sword-dude motion capture is relevent to my interests. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)
Gabrielle Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I never heard of it. Any links to it's site?
Gabrielle Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 http://www.thewitcher.com/ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks.
Arkan Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 NWN2 better look this good. "Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials "I have also been slowly coming to the realisation that knowledge and happiness are not necessarily coincident, and quite often mutually exclusive" - meta
J.E. Sawyer Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I saw one video where they showed off multiple ways the main character could solve a problem, but that was about it. That's more than most so-called RPGs can manage these days. twitter tyme

kumquatq3 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I think it could be interesting. I like the whole potion system it's got going
Musopticon? Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 You. RPGs in Production-thread. Now. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. I had to fight against blood thirsty wolves and rabid penguins to get my food. Those who were too weak to survive were sent to Sweden. It has made me the man I am today. A man who craves furry hentai. So let us go and embrace the rustling smells of unseen worlds
kumquatq3 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Bah, I asked for help, everyone was like "sure!". guess what happened
