Darklighter Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 Howdy... 1. I have done everything except the smuggling side-quest and new energy source side quest. Although I have the hold-out blaster, once I find out the shopkeeper is the smuggler, I cannot get a dialogue option from the Lt. to tell him and complete the quest. I have tried every dialogue option, and even did all the smuggling missions, checking with the Lt. each time inbetween. He won't give me any dialogue options concerning the smuggling (since the one where he asked me to look into it). 2. Down on the planet, in the old military base, there is a door that says "Opened from another location", and on the Map says it leads to the "Sub-levels". Is this where the new energy source is? Or is the door not to be opened? I couldn't get it opened, and since I finished the rest of the level, I'd rather not fly back there if there's no reason. I have currently finished the secret polar Jedi facility and retreived the Ebon Hawk... I just went back to Citadel station to mop up those 2 side quests. Please help!
Wild Storm Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 The second one has simply been cut from the game.

You need to get the shopkeeper to tell you what items he needs for his next shipment. To do this you need to agree to help with the smuggling. From there you can either tell the Lt. and he will give you the items. After you have the items, talk to the shopkeeper and you will escort him to the dock where the Lt. will meet you with some troops to make the arrest.
Cazak Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 It's weird, on some playthroughs of the game I'll get some quests that I didn't get the last time I played, yet the next time I play through the game I won't be able to get that same quest again, doesn't matter if I'm LS/DS or Male/Female it's just some quests don't activate and I don't know if they are from in game glitches or what. My advice would be to do what the above player said and try to get Samham to give you a list of all the items he needs, 3 in total with the first one being from a plant in the Ithorian compound. Once he tells you what you need don't go get the stuff yourself, instead go to Lt. Grenn and he'll get you everything you need. From there just do it as it says and you should be in good hands.
Darklighter Posted March 11, 2005 Author Posted March 11, 2005 I have done this. I went to the Lt. after... 1. Shopkeeper told me what he needs 2. After he (shopkeeper) gave me the plant quest 3. After I completed the plant quest 4. After he gave me the personal shield quest 5. After I completed the personal shield quest 6. After he gave me the medical suppies quest 7. I gave up here because I had to kill a TSF officer after I grabbed the supplies... yet when I went to the Lt, he still gave me no dialogue options! This is very frustrating.

Kaldhore Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 Ive completed that quest as a LS male, on my first run through. There are several people you can talk to about the blaster. I talked to the Ithorians since it was on their quest that I found it. I then spoke to the Lt. who didnt say anything. I also spoke to the woman at Czerka, and she told me some unhelpful stuff. Finally I went to the shop and got the dialogue options to start help him smuggle stuff. I said ok and went to get the leaves - but then I realised that if I got them - I would get DS points, so I reloaded (still had the leaves) Then went to the Lt. who gave me all 3 of the required things. I then went to the shop and set him up - completing the quest.
Janson Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 Same as Kaldhore...have completed the quest as a LS male and as a LS female. Both times I was able to speak to the Lt after getting the checklist of the three items from the Duros.
Master Dahvernas Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 Some side-quests and thier outcomes through out the game depend heavily on some of your skills and attributes. This is a blessing and a curse as some have pointed out. As a good rule of thumb... Have INT (Intelligence) at around 15-16 when you create your character. Then concentrate on Awareness and Persuade each time you level up (no matter what class). Always put points in these Skills first and keep them high. You'd be surprised how much of the actual "hidden" story comes out with these skills maxed and how much you can actually avoid conflict (if LS) if these skills are maxed. Like I said, it is cool if you know this... And I learned it from a Walkthru and just playing the game a few times... But also detracts greatly from the game if you don't know these little tricks and it will cause a player to miss half of what is going on when they run through the game the first time... And this may leave a bad taste in their mouth after that to not want to replay the game again (LS/DS) as it appears to be doing with a lot of people.

This is very frustrating. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Have you asked the Lt. about the gun before you start showing it around? I believe I've done the quest this way: 1. Show the gun to Lt. 2. Show the gun to the shopkeep 3. Use the dialog options "I want to know who sold the weapon used to try and kill me" and "I bet the pay is good" when talking to the shopkeep. 4. Convincing him you'll help, he gives you the three itmes you need to get. 5. Go back and talk to Lt. -- if you get any of these items yourself, I'm positive that any dialog with Lt. will no longer be available cause you'll have actively participated in illegal activities. I'd also imagine that using the dialog "you've just implicated yourself" will not get you further in this quest. It won't be good enough for Lt. if shopkeep just tells you he's the seller. You gotta catch him in the act. I've never used this dialog option, so I'm just guessing that taking that option will end the quest and you'll be unable to complete it. Also keep in mind that just like in KOTOR I, sidequests must be done in a certain sequence. If you do something too soon, like break into a locked room before you've triggered a certain sidequest on Citadel, it breaks that quest too. So if you show the gun to the shopkeep before talking to Lt. about it, then I bet this ends the ability to complete the quest by working with TSF. Logically, if you're attacked with a weapon the first place you should go is to the authorities. Granted TSF is a bunch of bone headed bumbling nerf herders, but they are the authorities on the station.
nobones Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 dang... I was just going to guess that the shop keeper was the smuggler, lol... Oh well... Thats what I get for reading the spoilers section
Arundor Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 My experience has been that you can only tell Grenn about the smugglers before going to the surface of Telos.
witchzenka Posted March 11, 2005 Posted March 11, 2005 It's been the same for me as Arundor. -Zenka The Evil Cow http://kotorsocial.suddenlaunch3.com/index.cgi

You can still pretend to work with him, then go and tell LT. Grenn. As a matter of fact, I've gone straight to Samhan before, without saying anything to Grenn. I got the list of stuff Samhan needed, went to Grenn, he gave me the package, I went back to Samhan, and we were off to the Dock Module. Actually, I've stolen the Bachani leaves and was STILL able to work with the TSF and get Samhan arrested. Apparently, you can do it any way you to and STILL "do the right thing" from what I can tell.
Darklighter Posted March 13, 2005 Author Posted March 13, 2005 Damn... I wonder if this is a bug, and there is somethign that "breaks" the quest. I *am* doing this AFTER going to Telos surface... has anyone else succeeded in this quest after visiting surface?
darkpark Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 I've had no issues with the smuggling quest, but i can never complete the hunt for those two criminals. in one play-thru, i saw them in the czerka office but they ran off down to the surface of Telos. when i took the shuttle down there, i never met up with them. in another play-thru, i never saw them on cidatel station nor on the surface of telos.
Nitron Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 I heard that if you tell Grenn about Czerka helping them, they wont show up and are replaced by some Mercs.
LadyCrimson Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 The two escaping crimminals quest - they never showed up on the planet for me either, but after finishing with the Handmaiden hideout I went back to Telos and talked to Grenn and told him I'd killed them (even tho I didn't) and the quest completed. But you don't even have to do that. Once you see the guys in the Cherka offices running away, you just go back right then and tell him you saw them, chased them, kileld them, and he'll say 'that matches our video records' and the quest completes. “Things are as they are. LadyCrimson Posted March 13, 2005 Posted March 13, 2005 Oh...also....about the smuggler quest....keep in mind that.... if you finish it on the good side (no glitches involved) that it closes his shop - he's arrested after all. So if you're going to buy anything there do it beforehand. Ijust took the darkside hit so I can get to 2nd window of goods. “Things are as they are. Darklighter Posted March 13, 2005 Author Posted March 13, 2005 Yes, I'd probably take the one DS hit to get some of the premium stuff... still, I cannot get the dialogue options no matter what. Guess I'll just split. This isn't a very important quest anyway, right? Does it dissapear off the quest list at some time? Thanks...

BattleCookiee Posted March 15, 2005 Posted March 15, 2005 anyone else? The Quest: Tell Grenn, than the shopkeeper closest to the door. Then the actual smuggler (the other shopkeerper). You can only tell Grenn about him if you agreed to help him get the stuff he wanted.
Indyanna Posted March 16, 2005 Posted March 16, 2005 I have done this. I went to the Lt. after... 1. Shopkeeper told me what he needs 2. After he (shopkeeper) gave me the plant quest 3. If you get the items seperately I think you only get the money and dark side points. The way to do that quest is in very small steps because you can get 50 experience points everytime you talk to the lt, or shopkeeper if you do it right. Like this: Show the gun to the lt., to get the quest. Show it to the shopeeker but don't agree to work for him or tell on him. 50 pts. Go back to the lt., tell him about the shopkeeper. 50 pts. The lt. will ask you to work for the shopkeeper. Go back to the shopkeeper and agree to work for him. 50 points. Go back to the lt., and get the items. 50 pts.
