Sony only has the Spider-Man rights.  Thats a very small group of heroes or anti-heroes (the Spider-Mans (Peter, Ben Reilly, Miles Morales, 2099), the Spider-Womans (Jessica Drew, Mattie Franklin, Julia Carpenter), the Spider-Girls (Aña Corazón, May Parker, Anna Parker, April Parker, Ashley Barton), Spider-Gwen/Ghost-Spider, Silk, Madame Web, Silver Sable, Black Cat, El Muerto, Moon-Wolf and a few others including a large number of alternate universe (Spider-verse) variants), a large supporting cast (J. J. Jamison and the Daily Bugle staff, various OsCorp employees, various HS and College friends and teachers of Peter) and lots and lots of villains.

Thus we get Venom, Kraven, Morbius, Madame Web and the now cancelled El Muerto film developed from Sony and the earlier attempt to develop a Silver Sable/Black Cat movie.  Actually I seem to vaguely remember talk of a Sandman vs Hydro film at one point.

As far as the trailer is concerned, it seems like Sony is doubling down on 'people get animal powers' Morbius & bats - which to be fair is from the comics - and now Kraven & lions (plus the Rhino being genentically manipulated rather than a guy in a suit that makes him look suspiciously like he's being eaten feet first by a rhino) which isn't from the comics.

You forgot the aunt May movie. The way she keeps getting younger, if they make it, she will be played by a teenager.

If they make a Mysterio movie, hopefully it's about this guy:

What, the guy who can't waite (sic) to go home and beat his kids? So proud of the fact too he still has the tweet up:

His son would make a far better subject, everyone likes a story of overcoming oppression and coming out on top, plus it has a prison storyline so it'd be like The Shawshank Redemption or something.

Rumor is that young Aunt May and Uncle Ben are in the Madame Web film (but as far as I know, only two characters have been confirmed for that film, Madame Web and Julia Carpenter).

I think we should have a movie where JK Simmons plays Nic Cage playing JK Simmons playing a guy who drives high end escorts in a repurposed wienermobile in Vegas so he can raise money for his daughter's cancer treatments. Call it "The Meat Seat".

Dominik has one of my favorite story arcs WWE has done in many years. He got arrested and spent like an hour in a jail cell and ever since he's now a "hardened criminal". He now talks tough and says stuff like "Run your mouth and I'll show you how we take care of snitches in the joint." 🤣 Delusional heels are the best.

No, I'm pretty sure they're two separate things. Rey had just bought the game, and was going home to beat his kids. The best evidence for that is that Rey has beaten Dominik up multiple times on live TV, we've never seen them playing WWE2k13 together though.

Spoiler

Rey Mysterio is currently in a feud with his (real life) son Dominik, who has been systematically oppressed by his parents doing unforgivable things like... giving him a standard BMW for his birthday instead of an M-series. That tweet has been used as further evidence of how bad a parent Rey is. Obviously, he actually couldn't waite to beat his kids at the game in reality, but the phrasing works very well in the current storyline.

Have The Black Hole on in the background as part of my lazy Sunday. Has some amazing visuals for it's time, and surprisingly dark for a 79' Disney film.

Inseminoid (1981)

Imagine a mashup of Alien and 80's monster rape. This is that mashup, with extra plot induced stupidity ane incompetence added for good measure. Unfortunately it doesn't get into entertainingly bad but just makes you wonder why so many people struggle to kill a hundred pound white lady on a rampage. Not a good time, if someone told me an AI made this to mimic 80's B-Horror I might believe them.

Leon: The Professional (1994)

A beautiful balancing act of wacky silliness and harrowing brutality elevates what could have been a forgettable story of a nice guy criminal into one of the best action movies made. Just incredible performances punctuated with some serious goddamn style. It's also refreshingly small in scale, somewhat like Taxi Driver, which works better for me and let's the characters breathe more.

Cocaine Bear (2023)

Like Prey it's a movie with questionable cgi that somehow turned out to be good. Unlike Prey it's just a ****ing laugh from start to finish....which sounds strange to say about a movie about a bear mauling people but here we are. It wears being a joke ok it's sleeve and it works beautifully.

One of my all time favourite movies 👍

Together with The Fifth Element one of those movies I can re-watch like once a year (same thing with Galaxy Quest come to think of it, even if not made by Luc Besson)

Same here, only swap Galaxy Quest with Sergio Leone's Westerns.

Interesting timing for a movie that will undoubtedly feature the French Revolution prominently, given what's happening in France right now.

I don't care about the movie at all but Hugh Grant as the Oompa Loompa made me LOL. (very end of trailer)

we got an early edition o' charlie and the chocolate factory tucked away in our attic. the oompa loompas were original written as african pygmies who worked as slaves in the factory and were "paid" for their services in coca beans. is not as if the book were written in the 1700s, so is hardly a surprise roald dahl took some heat from groups such as the naacp, although it were the movie production which sparked most criticism. the 71 movie oompa loompas were orange o' skin and green o' hair 'cause o' the aforementioned outrage.

to his credit, roald dahl did change the oompa loompas in subsequent editions o' his novel recognizing that his original depiction were, at best, cultural insensitive. early 1970s wokeism? not a bad thing. just imagine how cringey the hugh grant scene from the trailer would be if it were an african pygmy under the glass jar.

next to mr. bean, willy wonka is 'bout the most english character evar and to have yet another american actor take on the role is curious... albeit no less odd than juaquin phoenix playing napolean in an almost entirely english production o' a movie 'bout the famous french general and emperor.

yet another willy wonka movie elicits from us the following predictable reaction:

however, while am not at all interested in wonka, we will observe timothée chalamet is an excellent actor. am looking forward to future timothée chalamet performances. am just not interested in a willie wonka prequel movie.

HA! Good Fun!

Asteroid City. Not my favorite Wes Anderson movie. While I did enjoy it I did not watch it in one sitting and overall it seemed very disjointed to me. The highlight of the movie were the characters, but the plot seems to be there just to move them along instead of telling some story.

Of course the movie could just have gone over my head.

BBC - Christopher Nolan: After Oppenheimer, no more films during strike action

When asked if he would write another film during the strike, he told BBC Culture editor Katie Razzall: "No, absolutely. It's very important that everybody understands it is a very key moment in the relationship between working people and Hollywood.
"This is not about me, this is not about the stars of my film," the acclaimed director, writer and producer added.
"This is about jobbing actors, this is about staff writers on television programmes trying to raise a family, trying to keep food on the table."
