Chilloutman Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 I just came here to post that its free to grab as well, but I am not sure if I ever played it or not 1 I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"

If you like space sims and never played it, you have missed out one of the best space games! Ah! Freespace games. I played them for the first time couple years ago. Brilliant games. Freespace2 is a must play, though I am not sure if it playable without a joystick. The best space combat games I had a pleasure to play up to this point. I find it a shame that most of Space games seem to persue "Freelancer" ideas - I never found those "open world to what you want" games to be ever good. Freespaces did one thing, but they did it rather well. So did Wing Commanders and X-WING games to a lesser degree. I should buy myself a new joystick one of these days. Had to leave my old one behind when I was leaving University. 1

majestic Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 (edited) I signed up the moment it was possible to, give or take a day. So a good while now... it's currently importing my GOG library and doesn't want to connect to Steam at all, but hey, well, I guess that's why they don't ship it yet, as Bill once said. edit: Well, Steam works now. It tripped over the 2FA earlier, but now it's happily importing my library. \o/ Edited October 3, 2019 by majestic Steam shenanigans No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering.
LadyCrimson Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 (edited) So I just became aware that FO:NV is on GoG these days. Which means I will double-dip to buy it so my only copy isn't with Steam. But I'm wondering if mods I used with the Steam version (downloaded ages ago from Nexus, or simple ones made by me in the editor) will work with GoG's version without any other work/changes. eg, could I just copy them from my old PC to a GoG install folder? eg, I'm too lazy to want to recreate my old mods for compatibility. melkathi Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 Just copying over mods is never a good idea. And FO:NV never was the most stable game to begin with. You can definitely try though. As long as whatever mod management tool is used now recognizes the new install, it may be able to just do whatever is needed. Kinda depends on how you set up the mod directory. Usually Nexus Mod Manager has its own dir and fomod and all that should be in there. Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
LadyCrimson Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 I never used any "mod manager." Just tossed them in the mod folder and checked/unchecked them in the game's start/splash screen thing. I know the reasons for mod managers but I never used enough to make them or specific loading orders necessary. Although if GoG doesn't have that starting choices menu (before the game actually opens) I suppose I might then. “Things are as they are. Looking out into the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations.” – Alan Watts
melkathi Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 If you always just tossed them in and used few enough to make that work, then you should be fine copying over. Mods should work based on the game, the launcher should be irrelevant. Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
Zoraptor Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 The launcher is definitely present in the GOG version anyway. As with most of the older Beth games you can launch the exe directly if you want to, but the default for the GOG version is still being started via its launcher.

LadyCrimson Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 So I have my bank send me auto-email info re: all online transaction records, right. I don't check or read them often. Opened one that was "purchase outside the US" today since those are rare for me, and didn't recognize the $$ amount number right away - the oddball purchase-location info was odd. Ran through company's official digital receipts for a while until I finally realize it was GoG. So hey, GoG, could you possibly do something about the scary sounding "Purchase location: at NAME NOT PROVIDED in WARSAW POL" 2 “Things are as they are. algroth Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 By the way, which version of Wasteland 2 ought I to play? Regular or Director's Cut? My Twitch channel: https://www.twitch.tv/alephg Currently playing: Roadwarden
Gfted1 Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Looks like the DC was made in a new(er) engine and offers more va. BTW, I notice I have both in my library too. Did both just get added when I clicked the free directors cut or did I already have the non-directors cut version? "I'm your biggest fan, Ill follow you until you love me, Papa"
213374U Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 IIRC, Director's Cut was a free upgrade for anyone with the original version. I don't think you can buy the non-DC version anymore, the DC package has the base version as an optional download. 2 1 - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
Lexx Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 The non-DC version gets added as well, which is good. I hated the DC. They changed the perspective and it felt so cramped and like I couldn't see anything anymore. Also I still remember how pissed I have been when they announced that more dialog got voiced. The money could have been spend on other areas in the game... instead they went with more voiced dialog, because - I guess - console peasants are too dumb to read or something. The reviews I've seen around are basically "Like Dragon Age Inquisition but boring", and since I found DA:I boring... Excuse some indulgent self quoting. Quote . . . Right now mostly Greedfall. Like it pretty well. I do think its funny how much press the game, seemingly from people who aren't familiar with eurojank. I think a lot of people were disappointed when they found out what kind of game Greedfall is. Frustrating 'cause I tried to tell the people I knew what to expect but they thought they were buying an AAA title. Quote Greedfall: the quest structure is great. Similar to Elex, quests are never really as straight forward as they first seem. The combat now has a full pause button which can make 'timing' dodges trivial, but as a slow paced gamer, I love it. Magic is more varied than it has been in any Spiders game to date. The setting is interesting, though not the biggest attraction for me. The companion characters don't look as physically distinct from one another as they do in either Bound By Flame or the Technomancer, which kinda makes them not stand out as much. The hub levels are larger than in any other Spiders' game. The tutorial is pretty long, similar to White Orchard in the Witcher 3 though a smaller hub with fewer quests. That's about all I can say without going into spoilers. and Quote Just finished Greedfall. Pretty good game, but like the Technomancer I don't know if I'll ever play it again because of all the backtracking (Mass Effect Andromeda broke my soul in terms of being able to weather through excessive backtracking). Long story short: better than DA:I by a long shot. Better questing, classless levels, more interesting setting (though I didn't love it as much as many), and much more varied play styles. The negatives are mostly due to budget like stiff animations, some stilted English vo (French studio), and a fair bet of backtracking. 2 1
