GOG keeps denying all my transactions and that link doesn't work, so I'm guessing my Internet provider works through Ukraine or something, and GOG is denying me service because they think I'm a combatant 🥲

the thing is I'm not from Russia, so something weird is going on, my guess is GOG is using a "carpet bomb" approach to blocking IP-address ranges, and my IP is within that range even though territorially I'm right next to Poland.

Huh, that stinks. I had no idea some gaming companies are blocking transactions to Russia. I wonder if Steam and Epic are following suit? Just curious, but are you having disruptions to other online services like Amazon?

GOG is a Polish company  and they vociferously opposed to Putins War so its understandable

But I doubt Steam and Epic would block Russian transactions

AFAIK GOG blocked both Belarus and Russia :(

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is 59% off on steam at the moment. Just not sure it's worth getting if you have all 3 games and their DLC's already?

Not really. There's some better textures for ME1 but other than that the only thing changed is lighting and for the worse, imo.

If nothing else, I was completely put off by the "always online" requirement for a f***ing single player game. EA isn't getting any more money from me until they (maybe) drop that requirement in their games (unlikely as the seem to be in bed with their micro transactions).

Yes, EA sucks, but never understood this whole outrage over "always online" to be honest.  Is it an "outside of the USA" problem?  I mean by American standards I'm pretty dirt poor and live paycheck to paycheck but I always manage to have fast internet and can float the bill...

The burden is not to me to explain why I don't want to give away my gaming habits online, the burden is on EA to prove there is a need for me to be hooked up on the internet constantly when playing their games.

(edit: I know it's because it's profitable for them and detrimental for me)

On a more positive note

Warhammer 40k Mechanicus is 75% off at the moment

And less butt shots. Some rules changes about exp and levels in ME1 too fit easier to the sequels, but it's minor.

hard west 2 is on sale at steam.

50% off.

am always waiting at least six months post release to purchase games for which we ain't done the crowd funding thing. gets us a more stable game which is likely encheapened. we intended to purchase hard west 2 earlier this year, but we forgot. now seems like a good time to pull trigger.

HA! Good Fun!
