Exactly. It's a bit like how my view on fantasy armour changed once I learnt about why historical armour was designed the way it was. Suddenly armour that used to look badass looks dumb. I'm not seeing the Japanese influence in Maia myself. I got a strong Ottoman Empire vibe from Kana's descriptions of Ruatai but I don't know whether that was intended or not.

After fig campaign
JerekKruger replied to ericdy's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Balls! I used a different email address for my Fig pledge than I use for the Obsidian forum. -
Not true for Deflection and Accuracy since what actually matters for them is not their absolute value, but rather their value relative to whatever you're fighting. To take your example, +10 ACC when I currently have 30 is exactly the same as +10 when you currently have 90, assuming you're fighting Deflection 30 and 90 enemies respectively.

Yeah this is the way I'd probably handle most weapons: simply have them be skin changes of the appropriate existing weapon. Only one sword, Darcozzi Paladini's Longsword of In'claene, is called a longsword, and that's a backer created item I believe. All other one-handed swords are simple called swords (though Steadfast is described as being a backsword in its description). I'd probably argue that some of the great swords are closer to longswords in their appearance than though.

It says at the top of that page that Fig pledges will be imported approximately 30 days after the campaign ends, so I don't think there's any reason to worry. -
One warning if you haven't played PotD before: it's a lot harder than Hard. This can come as something of a shock, particularly if you expect it to be like the step from Normal to Hard. One big difference is you might need to leave some content you'd usually do right away until later. For example, perhaps you usually rush to Caed Nua as soon as you can, but on PotD you should only do this if you enjoy a challenge and are a bit of a masochist. Beyond that, make sure you pay attention to enemy defences and target what they are weak against, and know that the difficult decreases substantially as you go, so by Act II it doesn't feel too bad. Sorry if you're actually a PotD veteran and already know this by the way.

The two main colonisers are Ruatai and the Vailian Republics I think. The latter is obviously based on Renaissance Northern Italy, the former is less obviously based on any specific real world culture but I got some Ottoman Empire vibes from the way Kana described it. That said, we've been told there are other, less influences in the area and, as Leferd says, there's no reason there shouldn't be Eoran cultures similar to real world Asian ones so I don't see any reason why there shouldn't be such weapons.
