Given the lack of a "vanilla" option for Priests and Paladins I suspect you're right. My guess would be that each Deity and Order will have a little more distinction than they did in PoE (more unique talents and perhaps some unique abilities too) but ultimately they won't be fundamentally different in the way that other subclasses are. They'll all have the basic things that make their class their class.

This is the usual reason for following a certain belief yes, at least for those who question the beliefs they are brought up with. You're probably right that that's what was intended by Avellone. Though it does contradict his cut backstory with Grieving Mother, but then perhaps that's part of why it was cut. I would tend to assume the impotence came later, perhaps as a result of his sacrificing part of his soul in the creation of the Godhammer. I don't think I agree that self hatred is his main driving force though. I'd probably say hatred and disappointment of others are a large part of what makes him him: he sacrificed a part of himself to save the Dyrwood (one of the few things he talks about positively), and then the Dyrwood disappoints him. I suspect he wishes he had died like his fellow Godhammerers, but his philosophy presumably doesn't allow for suicide.

Erm... didn't you pick up on the whole part where he was an incredibly devoted follower of Magran, sacrificing a part of his own soul to make the Godhammer bomb, and afterwards she abandoned him? The fact that the man who has prided himself in never doubting is starting to show cracks: is this a test by Magran, or has she truly abandoned him? He doesn't know, and it scares him, but he's not the sort of person to show fear so he lashes out at others. The misogyny is, I think, part of who he is and partly magnified by his feeling of having been used then abandoned by a woman, namely Magran. I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that he's impotent from though.

It might have done so for you, but it made me hit reload and, given how many mods for BG2 included a "get rid of enemies on rest2 feature, I think I am far from alone.

Cosmetic System
JerekKruger replied to dver's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'm okay with this, just so long as said cosmetics aren't tested on Orlans. -
Not quite. 1936 = 44*44 so you've allowed for taking two subclasses from the same base class, which isn't allowed. The actual number is: Single class possibilities = 9*4 + 2*5 = 46 Dual class possibilities = 36*16 + 18*20 + 25 = 961 Total = 1007 Still a huge number of possibilities. If you're wondering how I came up with the slightly odd looking calculations, it's because there are 5 subclasses for Priests and Paladins rather than four*. In the second calculation you've got 36 non-repeating pairs of classes (excluding Paladins and Priests), 18 non-repeating pairs including either a Paladin or a Priest but not both, and one pair with both Paladin and Priest in it. Each of these is multiplied by the number of possible subclass combinations. *By four, I include the base class. According to what we've been told, Paladins and Priests have to take a subclass however, they can't remain vanilla.

Are we sure Fulvano isn't a manifestation of Wael? He reveals the mysteries of geography to his companions, but then hides them again through the subtle act of getting them killed. His bizarre trips between Dunnage and the Drowned Barrows are, once again, acts aimed at obfuscating a mystery. Yeah, I think he's Wael.

Romance
JerekKruger replied to Skyleaf's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
@TrueNeutral: I think it's a statistical thing rather than an absolute statement. It's similar to saying "men have more physical strength* than women". Of course there are some very strong women, and some very weak men, but the statement is shorthand for "the average man has more physical strength than the average woman". Similarly, "women don't play video games" is short hand for "far fewer women (as a proportion of overall population) play video games than men". That said, it is much less true these days. I'd be surprised if there is any demographic where the proportion of women who play video games is equal to (or higher) than men, but I also think the gap is much lower than it used to be, particularly in younger demographics. *To be precise, I am talking about maximal force produced by muscular contraction here. -
Gore - Gibbing

Not only. It's also a closely guardian secret of Shaolin Ninja Navy SEALs too. -
Gore - Gibbing
JerekKruger replied to gibonez's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
This is true, but it would be nice to see video game developers acknowledge that this only happens when the dagger hits the precise "explode into chunks of meat" pressure point. It shouldn't happen one time in twenty, unless the attacker is a master of the ancient art of chunking. -
Yeah, I'd imagine that most console gamers who are nostalgic for this sort of thing also own PCs and would rather play such a game with mouse and keyboard, and those who wouldn't would likely also see an isometric RPG as a step back from modern 3D ones. I might be completely wrong of course, but that's my feeling.

Gore - Gibbing
JerekKruger replied to gibonez's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I'd say basically impossible for plate and close to impossible for the other heavier armours so long as they protect said limb. As for gibbing, a small part of me wants to see it remain for nostalgia reasons but I tend to agree that it's ridiculous and doesn't really add anything to the game. -
I'm sorry if you're growing tired of the suggestion, but it's the first time I've made it and I've not seen it made by others (to the best of my memory), so I can assure you I am not "constantly" bringing it up. As for her ability to kill herself, given how much of her personal dialogue is about how horrible her current existence is and the fact that she doesn't, I can't help wondering whether Galvino has implemented some way to stop her. As for solving her problems, none of her ending slides (that I've seen) suggest you solve anything.
