  1. Well, a suitably powerful Vithrack Cipher might be able to go unnoticed by all but the strongest minds in the area, much like Grieving Mother does.
  2. Maybe he'll head back to Anslög's Compass and die there, so that those of us who already thought he died there will be slightly less wrong.
  3. Well both Paladins and Priests get unique talents according to their Order/Deity in Pillars, so I wouldn't be surprised if that remains the case in Deadfire.
  4. Mine too. I don't really know what the historical Komi state has to do with the ability scores of good people.
  5. Yeah, the Vithrack seem like the most obvious race for this sort of thing, at least from the races we've seen so far. They're sentient but, more importantly, they seem to have intelligence around the same level as the kith races. I'd love to see a Vithrack Cipher (or perhaps some unique Vithrack psionic class), though I doubt we'll see one in Deadfire. Fingers crossed for PoE3 eh? Of the other sentient races, Xaurips seem significantly less intelligent than kith races (though perhaps I am being speciest); Skuldr are definitely less intelligent (I am not sure they are even sentient); and spores only seem to achieve sentience once they become huge and multicoloured, and they tend to be real **** about it Ogres could work too. My feeling is that they are generally a little less intelligent than kith races on average, but close enough that a brighter ogre would be fine (perhaps I am being speciest again). Also my concern about intelligence might not even be relevant. A Xaurip could make a fine comedy companion.
  6. Given the lack of a "vanilla" option for Priests and Paladins I suspect you're right. My guess would be that each Deity and Order will have a little more distinction than they did in PoE (more unique talents and perhaps some unique abilities too) but ultimately they won't be fundamentally different in the way that other subclasses are. They'll all have the basic things that make their class their class.
  7. Oh I realise this is true. I wouldn't be surprised if most rape is more about power than satisfying sexual desire (at least based on what I've been told).
  8. This is the usual reason for following a certain belief yes, at least for those who question the beliefs they are brought up with. You're probably right that that's what was intended by Avellone. Though it does contradict his cut backstory with Grieving Mother, but then perhaps that's part of why it was cut. I would tend to assume the impotence came later, perhaps as a result of his sacrificing part of his soul in the creation of the Godhammer. I don't think I agree that self hatred is his main driving force though. I'd probably say hatred and disappointment of others are a large part of what makes him him: he sacrificed a part of himself to save the Dyrwood (one of the few things he talks about positively), and then the Dyrwood disappoints him. I suspect he wishes he had died like his fellow Godhammerers, but his philosophy presumably doesn't allow for suicide.
  9. Erm... didn't you pick up on the whole part where he was an incredibly devoted follower of Magran, sacrificing a part of his own soul to make the Godhammer bomb, and afterwards she abandoned him? The fact that the man who has prided himself in never doubting is starting to show cracks: is this a test by Magran, or has she truly abandoned him? He doesn't know, and it scares him, but he's not the sort of person to show fear so he lashes out at others. The misogyny is, I think, part of who he is and partly magnified by his feeling of having been used then abandoned by a woman, namely Magran. I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that he's impotent from though.
  10. It might have done so for you, but it made me hit reload and, given how many mods for BG2 included a "get rid of enemies on rest2 feature, I think I am far from alone.
  11. I'm okay with this, just so long as said cosmetics aren't tested on Orlans.
  12. Not quite. 1936 = 44*44 so you've allowed for taking two subclasses from the same base class, which isn't allowed. The actual number is: Single class possibilities = 9*4 + 2*5 = 46 Dual class possibilities = 36*16 + 18*20 + 25 = 961 Total = 1007 Still a huge number of possibilities. If you're wondering how I came up with the slightly odd looking calculations, it's because there are 5 subclasses for Priests and Paladins rather than four*. In the second calculation you've got 36 non-repeating pairs of classes (excluding Paladins and Priests), 18 non-repeating pairs including either a Paladin or a Priest but not both, and one pair with both Paladin and Priest in it. Each of these is multiplied by the number of possible subclass combinations. *By four, I include the base class. According to what we've been told, Paladins and Priests have to take a subclass however, they can't remain vanilla.
  13. Honestly, there's very little I'm not excited about. Everything looks either as good as Pillars or better, and I loved Pillars. If forced to pick one thing, I'd probably go with the location: it looks like it's going to be a lot more exotic and varied than the Dyrwood.
  14. Are we sure Fulvano isn't a manifestation of Wael? He reveals the mysteries of geography to his companions, but then hides them again through the subtle act of getting them killed. His bizarre trips between Dunnage and the Drowned Barrows are, once again, acts aimed at obfuscating a mystery. Yeah, I think he's Wael.
  15. @TrueNeutral: I think it's a statistical thing rather than an absolute statement. It's similar to saying "men have more physical strength* than women". Of course there are some very strong women, and some very weak men, but the statement is shorthand for "the average man has more physical strength than the average woman". Similarly, "women don't play video games" is short hand for "far fewer women (as a proportion of overall population) play video games than men". That said, it is much less true these days. I'd be surprised if there is any demographic where the proportion of women who play video games is equal to (or higher) than men, but I also think the gap is much lower than it used to be, particularly in younger demographics. *To be precise, I am talking about maximal force produced by muscular contraction here.
  16. Not only. It's also a closely guardian secret of Shaolin Ninja Navy SEALs too.
  17. This is true, but it would be nice to see video game developers acknowledge that this only happens when the dagger hits the precise "explode into chunks of meat" pressure point. It shouldn't happen one time in twenty, unless the attacker is a master of the ancient art of chunking.
  18. A poll with 307 votes, hardly a representative sample for a game that has sold more than one million units.
  19. Don't be ridiculous. Everyone knows that five person parties are the last step on the path to converting to a modern warfare style first person shooter. We should already have guessed it when PoE had guns: what else has guns? Call of Duty, that's what!
  20. I can assure you, there's no one like me. But the description in that slide has her rusting, and remaining conscious whilst doing so. It didn't sound like she died as a result to me.She certainly didn't die from drowning.
  21. Urgh! No thank you. Bioware style CRPGs are pretty much the reason I want games like PoE.
