White March I
JerekKruger replied to Thanaos's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
If you have no saves before the pit then the only option would be to use the console to teleport yourself to another zone. I don't know the exact console commands needed to do so but they should be on this page: http://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Console_command You'll need to find the in-game name of a zone to teleport to, I don't know them myself but I'm guessing they'll be pretty obvious (try something like "caed_nua" or "Caed_Nua"). Note that this will disable achievements. If you care about achievements I think your only option will be to start a new game. -
[Deceptive]
JerekKruger replied to omgFIREBALLS's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Stories (Spoiler Warning!)
It's also a little odd how people find out about your deceptive reputation. I mean, if you're a good liar, no one should know. -
I met the ones involved in the gift bearer quest and I have the pet one, but other than that no nice lagufaeth no. I have noticed that circle of protection is a huge boon against them (and to be honest against most enemies). Also I took a break from the white march and completed act II. The joy if not needing strategy: I justclicked an enemy and it died whilst my group were basically invincible. Perhaps in I'll do what crucis does and visit the white march later.

"flanking someone is a legend that people tells on forums" I flank all the time on my current PotD playthrough. In fact I only started bothering about flanking for PotD because that -10 Deflection is so handy against the higher Deflection enemies (particularly at lower levels). Moreover Ituumak is often my main flanker, I have my other melee characters engage the main group of the enemy, then once the melee is properly started Ituumak runs around at flanks whoever needs to be flanked the most.

I think what Crucis said is partly true for me, though I quite like Paladin's in the tank/support hybrid role, and I really think they are comparable to Fighters as tanks in the current game (pre 2.0 Fighters were a lot better due to the old gluing with engagement strategy, now I think Fighters are best built as tank/damage dealer hybrids). For me though, part of why I wanted to play a damage dealing Paladin was because it best fitted the image of the character I wanted to play, namely a knightly type character wielding a great sword. The only other class that could have pulled that off for me would be the Fighter, but I just can't get excited about Fighters. Anyway, things go well for my Paladin. I was surprised by how easy the ogre attack on Stalwart was for a level 8 party on PotD, but I am quite nervous about facing lagufeth. I took a minor detour to Cliaban Rilag after picking up the Redeemer to level it (only place I could remember having spirits I hadn't done yet and now I'm going to do Russetwood. I think I'll leave Longwatch Falls till after Durgan n/a Battery this time.

Also of note, one of the unique crossbows and one of the unique arbalests have the speed enchant. This is a brilliant enchant on melee weapons, but given it has no effect on reload speed, only on recovery, it's fairly useless on ranged weapons, particularly ones with long reload speeds like crossbows and arbalests.

I always forget how high the damage is on Firebrand compared to an ordinary great sword. I'm not sure I'll use it that much, as I tend to forget to use per rest abilities, but I definitely will grab those gloves. If nothing else Firebrand has got to be good against some of the enemies who are weak against burning in the White March. Yeah, that might not help either Crucis. My Paladin currently wears Shod in Faith and my main source of healing from Durance is Consecrated Ground...

The only way I can see Sagani bring SJW pandering is that she's a woman who's job is traditionally done by men. I doubt that that was actually written to pander to SJWs, it's just the only thing I can think of. I can't see it at all with Kana, he's just an enthusiastic, slightly niave intellectual. As for Durance not being evil, that really depends on what you mean. I think most people in Eora would see him as evil, as would most people in our world. I doubt however that he sees himself as evil. He has justifications for his acts, not ones most would agree with, but they aren't empty. Essentially he seems to believe that things need to be constantly challenged in order to remain (or become) strong(er), and that any act that furthers this strengthening is justified. There are Nietzschean elements going on in his world view.

Yeah, Adra Dragon scales are for superb, but that doesn't mean there's no other way to create superb armour out there in Eora, just that that's the only method available to the player.

I went with flaming, I hadn't thought of the Stormcaller synergy but I decided it fitted with my flame theme anyway. Yeah, I pretty much ignored fear on hard mode. It was only once I was fighting Drake's and noticing how many grazes and misses I was getting that I realised you really can't when the enemies have +15 deflection. I have to admit my favourite part of playing on PotD so far is that I actually have to think carefully about how to use my spellcasters. I have to make sure I target defences the enemy are weak against, same with DRs, and it becomes important to counter some enemy afflictions.
