  1. 28 Weeks Later Now, I consider the prequel the best movie in the zombie horror genre. It's bleak, it's perfectly shot, it's gruesome and scary, without being splatterish or going for shock tactics. It also has the one thing that makes a great zombie movie, the thing that Romero never seems to get, - it's a tale of survival from a human's point of view. It doesn't invest a big amount of time to show off the undead(or infected in this case) and it doesn't provide the cast of characters with a variety of killing methods and transform into a gory shooting gallery. Instead, the director provides an enviroment that's hostile and deadly(and a transfiguration of threat and alieniation over casual elements like a street in Camden or a rest stop) and introduces a cast of characters to survive that, ones that are easy to sympathize with. This is where 28 Weeks Later fails - it kills off main characters just as you start to hold some sympathy towards them, it features tons of military and enviroments like bases, warehouses and silos that are like hallways from any game, bleak and unforgiving, but never having the alienation effect, it does away with hope and desperation with constant knowledge that anyone can die, that everyone is expendable and closely examines the undeath, trivialising them via such things as military analysts and infected-genocide with gas and fire-bombing. You could say the hopelessness and bleakness is the movie's greatest strength, but, just as the music guys never got that with the overkill of that one GY!BE track, enough is quite enough. Also, the movie wasn't really British enough. For once, that is a con.
  2. Bukkake-Jack and now...Bukkake-Thor.
  3. Hevein - As far as the eye can see
  4. Or you could just play other rts'. Since, there's been like a million good quality ones out after WC 3.
  5. A Finnish developing studios' nigh-failed attempt at making a love story in game format.
  6. I bought Max Payne 2 for five euros. About time.
  7. Well, somebody would have to create it, right? I don't think anybody has the time, not to mention a couple of established comic characters like Sam and Max. Unless you really want "Weekly Funnies with Atris and Grobnar". I don't. I'd rather have them concentrate on game making.
  8. Wouldn't that be "replicating a working plot mechanic" instead of "ripping off"? That said, you could make a case that Warcraft 3 is just "zergs in fantasyland" as the amount of similarities is pretty astounding.
  9. Amorphis - My Kantele
  10. ...or, instead of your private fantasies, we could use this thread for its intended purpose: K3.
  11. Yuki Kajiura - Corsican Corridor
  12. Hey, I love that exaggerated style. Way cool. Edit: Am I interpreting this wrong or are they going to do a party-based action rpg? Because, that's one rare concept. This game just upped the hype by a mile.
  13. I've been keeping my eyes and ears open for this(mostly because Battle Realms was great), but so far I haven't been able to find any screens. Are there any?
  14. So, no magic then? Cool. Thanks for the map.
  15. Around the 70's, possibly. Beats me what were the dominant readings into human morality back then(I can do to the research if no one else is arsed enough), but supposedly he based a lot of the ideas on buddhism. Purity of Force, samurai ethics or bushido(which itself is based on buddhism) and harsh ethical code are all from there.
  16. Yeah and Yuthura later gave it all up because she finally saw compassion and friendship. Empathy, as it is. And as to who the hell I am to call the shots concerning dark side. Well, the simplest answer: a human being, socially versed, decently educated and empathically able. That's all I need to be to tell that Sith are nothing but evil. Hunger for power is not complexity, living for passion may very well award one it incredible inspiration and even love, but it's not like those notions last. You are, afterall, bent on acquiring even more power. And once again, this is Star Wars, a setting that prides itself on being nothing but good and evil, light and darkness, a universe of opposites. Bringing real world's values, thinkers and philosophers to play just doesn't register here. You can throw them around as much as you want, but it won't change the fact that every Sith so far has been a complete bastard. It's the setting, the universe, there's just no place for morally and ethically grey characters. Not to mention, Nietchsze was a product of his time. Post-war ennui, absolutely brooding zeitgeist and living among a people whose identity was built on regret and loss of spirit. It's hard to find other people than nihilists and niche-goths who agree with his deduction of human psyche anymore(though it is influental, just not relevant unless refined and taken further by more recent thinkers), not to mention value those thoughts in actual human encounters. I say you are the simpleton for not seeing the issue as what it is: A person that has forfitted the rules of society may very well be the most free, but he's also an outcast, socially deviant and possibly psychopathic. Humans aren't build for that, we are social and ethical creatures and nihilists tend to either become hermits, grow up or go ape**** over their neighbours or next of kin. Is a human outside of society really a human? More like a beast, I think. You can call is ascendance to
  17. It says a lot about a poster if he wants reputation here. Words like desperate and perhaps lost as well spring to mind. Anyway, Age of Decadence doesn't impress, but it sure does look like it is up to the task of being an actual rpg, instead of a glorified loothunt. And with Prelude of Darkness' sequel taking forever and SpidWeb's new Avernums and Geneforces failing to interest me(teal dungeons? what the ****ing hell?!), this will most likely surpass as a primary indie rpg interest and as a possible time-consumer to come. Rome is an interesting setting and although I don't agree with the inclusion of supernatural elements. Improved speechcraft, diplomacy and intrigue aspects would serve the already exciting setting a lot better without the need to add magic to keep it interesting for a certain demographic. That said, I don't think I have access to the author's mind, if he thinks the story needs magic to work, then magic it will be. I'll play it anyway, just mentioning a nitpick here. All in all, I'm slightly hyped.
  18. Sorry, this is D&D 3.5 ed *ruleslawyerized* Pop takes 23 law damage and acquires overruled-status Pop is down!
  19. Nevermind Tale, Deraldin wins with Homeworld and Alpha Centauri. And awesome desktop image.
  20. Having sex with your hand doesn't count. Just ask Kirottu.
  21. I'm playing Shivering Isles and enjoying it immensely. Now, when I actually know how to build a character and the most glaring flaws, shallow campaign story and dialogue and characters, are fixed, it's a great experience. It's a ton better game than Oblivion. Also, FEAR: Bullet time+shotgun+running on Replica's face=instant giblet rain!
  22. I liked it up until the Night Elves, which I thought were a bad design decision. The whole time I felt robbed of the original Alliance races and playing a mish mash of Drow and Dryads, like something marketing had created to act as T&A of the game(WoW was even worse in that regard). I mean, you got demons, regular elves and Kirin Tor, why another magic race?
