Infogrames-Atari Extends D&D Game Rights To 2017
Yeah, I think that the human element of DnD is almost completely forgotten -- or de-emphasized to such an extent -- such that computers fail to provide the same gaming experience and fans cannot understand why. The simple answer is that groups of people interacting in a fantasy setting is much more compelling (and relies far less on rules) than what they give it credit for. +1

Games you are looking forward to
I don't like the green-grey desert. Make a decent sienna desert ffs! It's not like we get to shoot stuff in a desert in every game. And technofuzzle green wasn't cool in Pariah, it wasn't cool in Halo 2's Oracle level and it's still not cool, despite being the utmost sig image color in the net, next to explosipink. Ughh. Just felt like saying.

Yeah, perception tends to get warped, if Erwin Rommel is like a god to one.

Evolution, creation or something else?
Just to show where I stand in this thread. I believe in evolution. I can't think of any convincing arguments against it, while arguments and in fact evidence, from bird's wings evolving to fins and from butterflies exhibiting surrounding pollution-grey texture on thie naturally white clear wings, are staggering. Not to mention, natural selection is plain in nature and evolution is just follows, survival of the fittest, on cell level and on organism level. The evidence is so much for it that I see it rather pointless to try to present silly old earth theories, etc(I mean, c'mon, why didn't Noah carry a couple of dinos over the flood? I always wanted to see one). And why should we? Speaking from a Finnish Lutheran perspective, believing on evolution, big bang, etc doesn't discredit religion in the least. And not just believing, thinking them right from a logical standpoint. That said, I don't believe in the divinity of the Logos, rather, I prefer the stuff in there to be "divinely inspired", rather than "truth". Bible is silly in that there's been so many writers over so many ages and suddenly everything is set to stone and canon established and then you can't add you own stories anymore, but have to seek ways to interpret old ones to modern context. Which in itself is a lost cause. Funniest and saddest thing probably is that, there wouldn't be any need for priests and hence organisational christianity without the bearded dudes in Nicaea and Constantinople back then deciding that we'd forever need interpreters for dogma and "divine register", like lawyers in a court.

That's pretty brilliant, and I agree.

Toyota wants you to murder Sheeple
Funny thing is, I thought the car was pretty conformist and non-deviant. And rather ugly. The art was great though. And the narrator was fine.

What's so bad about the dark side anyway?
Would you recommend The Lucifer Effect? I'll be finally able to have access to university library, finding originals and even translations when you live in a little town is difficult, so I'll consider reading it. The book came up when I was reading about that Prison Experiment, whose proprietor I can't remember, and the study results thereof.

I have one ICE-pick. Trying now... Edit: Seems to open more games. Maybe all. Meh, I was waiting for an easter egg.

What are you playing now?
Hmm, well, I kinda tried to not spoil the moment in my post for people that have yet to play the game. There are those, as was examplified by me. But yes, Shodan is awesome. Yeah, I'm playing with the Rebirth and SHTUP(the texture upgrade project), but Rebirth is the redone version, called Complemented, with the faceless metal monster midwives, not the Polish supermodel midwives. A lot of stuff has been redone to look more like the originals were in concept. Not a bad pack, and I feel like I'm playing a 2003 game, instead of a 99 game. Midwives are freaking scary, heh. That said, I sort of wish I had played this in 00 instead of now, I'm so spoiled on things to come and hype sort of killed some things for me, since I was waiting a bit more on various features, especially the whole security thing. I expected more of a Deus Ex functionality. It's not bad, great actually, but I thought it was going to be somewhat different. By the by, what's in that GamePig? It needs a hack of 6 to open.

Far Cry 2
Great, so it happens in Africa this time? First fps I've seen to use a savannah enviroment.

*applaudes* Nice. And now back to waiting.

What are you playing now?
I was actually already spoiled, but I never thought the encounter was gonna be like that! Me and my friend are playing this simultaneously and we both are flabbergasted at Operations Deck, me with my ton of cybernetics and a grenade launcher and he with his assault rifle and tons of brawn. This game has easily gone into my top ten. Frekking awesome.

Jericho (squad-based Action Horror game)
Undying is still my favorite fps ever. Yes, even after GoldenEye and SS2. You could find it very cheap from online even today. It's aged really well, thanks to Unreal engine, and atmosphere, characters and story in general is top notch. It was one of the first games to use character expressions, reflective surfaces, colored lightning and fog etc. Not to mention the mansion where (most of) the game happens is easily one of the most believable enviroments ever in games. Sure, you have occasional planar rift and constant haunting, but it really is like a old 18th century noble manor in the Highlands. Only minus to otherwise awesome game is that the end game suffered a bit from crunch time and that I've never got through one boss fight in the game. I lost my last saves on reformat, I should probably play it again soon. Geez, I wish someone gave this game a Rebirth treatment. Edit: Also, second best(best is totally in Painkiller) melee weapon ever. Edit2: Ok, after going through the web site, I must admit I'm thrilled that Barker has kept the edges of mystic and mundane slightly interlapping again, a tasteful backdrop to a gorefest, timetravel, undead legionnaires, team action(co-op...?) and actual attention to detail could very well make this the game that will force me to upgrade. Goddamn, it looks promising.
