Great, so it happens in Africa this time? First fps I've seen to use a savannah enviroment.

I was actually already spoiled, but I never thought the encounter was gonna be like that! Me and my friend are playing this simultaneously and we both are flabbergasted at Operations Deck, me with my ton of cybernetics and a grenade launcher and he with his assault rifle and tons of brawn. This game has easily gone into my top ten. Frekking awesome.

Jericho (squad-based Action Horror game)
Musopticon? replied to metadigital's topic in Computer and Console
Undying is still my favorite fps ever. Yes, even after GoldenEye and SS2. You could find it very cheap from online even today. It's aged really well, thanks to Unreal engine, and atmosphere, characters and story in general is top notch. It was one of the first games to use character expressions, reflective surfaces, colored lightning and fog etc. Not to mention the mansion where (most of) the game happens is easily one of the most believable enviroments ever in games. Sure, you have occasional planar rift and constant haunting, but it really is like a old 18th century noble manor in the Highlands. Only minus to otherwise awesome game is that the end game suffered a bit from crunch time and that I've never got through one boss fight in the game. I lost my last saves on reformat, I should probably play it again soon. Geez, I wish someone gave this game a Rebirth treatment. Edit: Also, second best(best is totally in Painkiller) melee weapon ever. Edit2: Ok, after going through the web site, I must admit I'm thrilled that Barker has kept the edges of mystic and mundane slightly interlapping again, a tasteful backdrop to a gorefest, timetravel, undead legionnaires, team action(co-op...?) and actual attention to detail could very well make this the game that will force me to upgrade. Goddamn, it looks promising. -
Hell yeah. SS2. Operations Deck. Bulkhead 43. Polito's office. WHOOOM Heck-awesome.

The plot is atrocious, but goddamn that movie rules visually and aurally. I've never gotten tired of it.

What's so bad about the dark side anyway?

Hunger for power at the expense of everything else is not really doing "what's best for the universe". These are people that might have initially been misled and uncorrupted, but ended up doing murders for their cause, giving up their humanity to corruption in exchange for power and attacking the established societal order, in this case Republic, to achieve their goals. That's a murderer, a tyrant and a terrorist all wrapped into one neat package. They also are willing to even kill their comrades, unlike your good old religious zealots, to attain a higher rank in power. Greed, anyone? Also, I can't remember a Sith that hasn't thrown lightning and kinetic force on whomever is on their path and absolutely revelled in the surges of their perverted use of the Force. And since the Force is an all-encompassing semi-sentient lifeforce, doing that is pretty much like gouging eyes from a puppy and being happy about it. I'd call that pretty evil. You can sugarcoat their ascendance to power as "culture", but I'd call it a religo-political-paramilitary sect on civilization's underbelly. Pretty damn evil. Lots of stuff about how this teeter-tootering on the pseudo-ethical precipice was complete crap and useless. Wait...why can't you remember? We talked about this "post on the internet when drunk"-thing of yours before, right? -

Man, I wish Inquisitor was actually a "realistic potential project". -
Original Ninja Gaiden tends to crash ever so often, but besides that the compatibility is pretty solid.

Simpsons unpopular among Pagans, threaten to make it rain
Musopticon? replied to Nick_i_am's topic in Way Off-Topic
Since when has Paganism been an established religion anyway? We're talking about a bunch of goons who mix and mash old druidic stuff mistranslated from Cycles of Telan and Don and season it with popular culture characters and stuff from cheap Black mass books bought second hand in a pawnshop, aka complete ****ing hacks. -

I think it's stupid how even though Bioware are absolutely swimming in money, they keep trying to be Blizzard. Nice business model, but I sort of miss the company's roots. -

*sigh* Gameplaywise, it's still a form of magic. And I can't understand why Bioware can't try to squeeze at least one bit of originality from their collective think tank. Right now, it looks like K3, they'll probably add "laser rapiers" or "mass swords" in as well. Ugh, colour me uninterested. Only thing that could save this would be awesome gameplay and interesting characters. So far, both look about as deep as Freedom Fighters. -
Random generation vs. Careful planning
Musopticon? replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
"Mary Sue" is a metacharacter in fiction that the author uses to portray her self on the story. There are several types, but the most prominent one is usually a "perfect" character which author uses to solve unresolved issues, live fantasies and be an allaround hero. This kind of characteration usually appears in fan fiction in particular, where Mary Sue characters often have all the knowledge of their author, aka omniscience, and can use that to easily bend all her favorite to her will, kill of ones that she perceives as villains and raise hypogamies with all her favorite characters, who probably change their views, sexual bias and persona at her whim at her will as well. In short, it's a poor form of characteration in fiction. -

Liking Evanescence is sort of like being a fly. You associate yourself into a powerful majority group, but tend to like ****. -

I saw this before at Forumopolis, should have posted earlier. Oh ye mighty British regular weather, I summon thee! I mean, it's not like it does rain every other hour in England. No, you need magic. Anyone else think that supposed relic there(I don't think they've ever studied it's age) should be bombed and Homer left? It's way funnier and mightily less unnerving. Not to mention, I don't think I want to support British Pagans, or anyone calling themselves Pagans. I mean, geez.
