  1. I updated the original image with all the known information about subclasses as per an old post by Josh (thanks Blotter)
  2. Wait can you select subclasses for companions? I thought you couldn't Edit: according to Blotter: > While Eder and Aloth don't use any subclasses, that's not the case for the rest of the main companions. Per an older post from Sawyer's Tumblr, Pallegina will either be a Kind Wayfarer or a member of the Frermàs mes Canc Suolias, Maia has a unique ranger subclass (Gunhawk), Serafen has access to a unique cipher subclass (Wild Mind), Xoti can be a priestess of Gaun and/or a Sister of the Reaping Moon monk, and Tekehu can be a unique subclass of chanter (Storm Speaker) and/or druid (Watershaper). Sawyer also said that two of the sidekicks have subclasses, but he doesn't go into detail and I don't recall whether this post was before or after they discarded Radora and Bonteru in favor of Fassina and Konstantin. If it was before, then the bit about sidekick subclasses could apply to sidekicks who no longer exist. So: Eder: can only be a Fighter/Rogue and cannot pick a specialism Aloth: same as Eder Maia Rua: 'Gunhawk', not sure about her Wizard options, hope she's a generalist, **** Wizard subclasses Pallegina: Kind Wayfarer, not sure about Fighter/Chanter Serafen: 'Wild Mind' Cipher, not sure about Barbarian specialism Tekehu: 'Storm Speaker' chanter, 'Watershaper' Druid Xoti: Priestess of Gaun, Sister of the Reaping Moon Here, I updated the image:
  3. Thanks, but that's not what I was looking for. He said via game files. Within the PoE2 install folder is /PillarsOfEternity2_Data/exported/design/gamedata. This contains a number of .gamedatabundle files, these are just JSON files. Notepad++ can open these and you can get a plugin to restructure the data into a human readable format from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/nppjsonviewer/ Create an 'override' folder in /PillarsOfEternity2/ and create a 'gamedata' folder within your 'override' folder so the filepath is now /PillarsOfEternity2_Data/override/gamedata. Copy the game files you want to modify into this new 'gamedata' folder, to modify attributes you need the 'bb_characters.gamedatabundle' file. Open this in Notepad++, use Ctrl+A to select all and the JSON viewer plugin to restructure the file to be human readable. Delete any GameData entry that you do not want to modify, leaving just the entries you want Make your changes and save Thanks!
  4. I'm interested in making a multiclass Druid, but I was wondering how the Spiritshift mechanics work. So, if someone could answer these questions, I'd be very grateful. 1) What weapon type does a Spiritshifted Druid use? 2) Can that weapon type be chosen for abilities such as the Fighter's Weapon Specialism? 3) Do passives such as the Rogue's Sneak Attack work while Spiritshifted? 4) Can passives such as the Fire Godlike's Battle-forged ability trigger normally while Spiritshifted? 5) Can abilities such as the Rogue's Blinding Strike be used while Spiritshifted? 6) Can Wizard spells be cast while Spiritshifted? Or Priest spells, etc Lastly, what classes do you think work well with the Druid, Spiritshift-focused or otherwise? Cheers
  5. We're talking about sidekicks. Who are supposed to have limited interactions. Hence why they'd be suited to having custom classes. Hence why I mentioned it. Your balance comment is just daft. Obsi already allows us to create as many custom characters as we want, so having sidekicks with custom classes wouldn't alter balance in the slightest.
  6. I searched and there wasn't a single topic about this that came up. So excuse me for using the forums to find out information, so sorry to have inconvenienced you. Jesus. Clearly Not sure what you're trying to achieve with this link but it leads to an error. Carry on though, this is an excellent look on you.
  7. This is really interesting. I really like some of the new characters, or the way they look anyway. 1) Eder gets a slot, guaranteed. As a Fighter, he's supremely useful from a mechanical perspective because of his tanking ability. The option to go Fighter/Rogue and increase his damage output just sweetens the deal. I really like Eder's personality. He frequently offers a bit of banter without turning into a joke character. I think he's really well-written. Well, he was in Pillars 1 anyway. 2) Serafen. Oh my god the portrait for this character looks fricking awesome. If he's even half as cool as his portrait suggests, he's gonna be awesome. Edit: changed my mind about classes. Apparently Barbarians are quite good now? I guess I'll make him a Barb/Cipher. 3) Xoti is a Priest, so that's an easy pick for me, Priests were excellent in Pillars 1 so I'm hoping they'll be good in Deadfire as well. Not sure what kind of personality she has but hopefully she'll be interesting, maybe a decent romance option? Not sure about multiclassing her to Monk... maybe. I hope her Priest of Gaun subclass doesn't have any brutal penalties. The Priest subclass penalties are horrendous at the moment. 4) Maia Rua gets a slot just because of her animal companion, that bird is cool as hell. Hopefully she is less annoying than Kana Rua, I really hated that character's personality. Having access to Wizard just sweetens the deal, also Geomancer? Coolest class name ever. That leaves my main, I'm thinking about going for a Shifter/Rogue. Shifter looks awesome as hell, if it works like it says it does; which is to say, the description says you get a Spiritshift for each animal type, so you get one Spiritshift for Bear, one for Boar, etc. And their Spiritshifts last longer. And they get a heal when they finish. Holy ****. Awesome. And the penalty, being unable to cast while shifted, doesn't bother me in the slightest. Rogue seems like a cool way to boost the Shifter's damage. And the classes share an emphasis on speed, as in light armor or whatever. I'm also thinking about Paladin but I'm not too sure about the role-playing that might be involved. I dislike the emphasis on religion, codes, etc. I also dislike all of the Paladin sects due to their punitive penalties; every single one of those penalties is horrific. Fighter also seems like an option but can the fighter select Unarmed Strike, or Animal Attack or whatever the Spiritshifted attack counts as, for their weapon specialization? If not then I think that's sad. I'm definitely going to go with a Fire Godlike for my first character, for RP reasons.
  8. Can you use any of these sidekicks, or companions you're not currently employing in your party, as ship crew? That'd be cool.
  9. I searched and there wasn't a single topic about this that came up. So excuse me for using the forums to find out information, so sorry to have inconvenienced you. Jesus.
  10. Did I miss something? What are sidekicks? Someone said they are meant to act as more interesting versions of the hired mercenaries you have in your party... But I don't understand that explanation, because as far as I can tell they still have fixed race, class, stats, etc so they are no more flexible than the main companions. I would love to have named companions that have their class, stats, starting feat, etc (basically everything except their race and gender) modifiable. That would be great.
  11. Thanks, but that's not what I was looking for. He said via game files.
  12. If I'm looking for pirate/ship RTS game I will purchase game with this content. If I'm looking for game like BG, IWD, POE, I hate deal with RTS. I think make these minigames optional is good way for everyone. Or not? Surely a better way is to make the game content better rather than make it skippable. What about people who don't like the combat? Better make that skippable. What about people who don't care to read? Better make all the dialogue skippable (and I don't mean just skipping ahead, I mean literally no dialogue options/consequences - there are plenty of people who are put off by having to read dialogue in games, let's appeal to them too). What about people who don't like creating a character? Better make it so that there are pre-built characters that level themselves.
  13. Did you actually try it in the beta? It's debateable if that mechanic is "fantastic". Or is this just some "I didn't try it, but come on, the company is nice so why shouldn't we praise everything they do although you don't really like it" statement? I like Obsidian, I like Josh (well, the parts I know of), I like PoE, I like CRPGs, I like to give feedback if I'm asked for and I really don't like the ship stuff (yet - maybe it gets better). So there's my feedback - bear with me. My point was less about constructive feedback (which OP didn't give) and more about 'can I skip game content?' which I don't think is constructive.
  14. Sigh.. come on guys Obsi add a fantastic new mechanic and you just wanna skip it, I just don't get the mentality here You hate pirates (not even pirates, sailors, nothing forcing you to be a pirate) and/or ships soooooo much that you just can't bear the thought of participating in it? You hate fun or something? I despair I truly do
  15. Honestly, you don't even need a mod; you can customize your character stats yourself in the game files. It's pretty easy to mod the game since the game files are a lot more open this time. Oh! Please post a detailed explanation on how to do this! I am super interested
  16. If you play on Path of the Damned, you get bonus attention from nearby girls because of your mad skillz
  17. Knowing how Josh feels about ability scores, I am going to predict that they will be set in stone. I for one would love it if everything about the character, aside from their race & appearance, was customizable. At the very least we need to be able to customise their starting talents.
  18. Probably the worst thing about enforced RP is that people doing the enforcing, and/or many of the participants in the forced RP, have no ****ing clue what proper RPing actually is. I remember fondly one time in a WoW RP server where I came across some random muppets RPing some kind of scenario between them. One of them types out 'pulls out poison and begins applying it to his blade'. So I pointed out that there is no way I could know that the substance he was applying to his blade was poison. I said it politely and in a non-aggressive way. It was just an observation. Next thing I know he's threatening to report me to Blizz for harassing him. What an idiot.
  19. As a hardcore PC fanatic, I'd just like to say: get a grip. There absolutely no evidence that PoE2 has been dumbed down for consoles. uggh, please don't do the thing that people on resetera do where you just quote a singple post from the first page to make a point. He calmed down if you look at the other post on this thread. Nevertheless, I agree your message. Sorry, I'm too lazy to read 5 pages about an issue I consider to be bull****, but thanks for the info i guess
  20. Yes, a million times yes. Please implement this, Obsi.
  21. I like the concept of Specialist Wizards getting access to restricted spells but at later spell levels than normal (whether it's +1 or +2), but I don't like the idea of weakened/nerfed spells. Another alternative could be to make it into a feat that you could choose, for example: Spell Research I Gain access to level I spells that are normally restricted by your Wizard Specialist School. Spell Research II Gain access to level II spells... etc

  23. Honestly I found the 'space piglet' a bit jarring visually. I much preferred other pets, like the white wyrm, that one is cool as ****.
