  1. I didn't find it underpowered at all in terms of damage, not with cat form anyway, far from it They were definitely not tanky though
  2. Oh god that is awesome, even more reason to collect all the pets
  3. Spell economy is one thing, but I hate POE's rest system with a passion. I'm very happy that they've removed Health and made spells per-encounter.
  4. If the wiki is correct: +5 deflection, +8 HP at level 1, +4 HP/level, +5 Fortitude, -15 Will. But you don't get those by multiclassing to Fighter as a Wizard, you get the average, of course. Apart from Deflection: you get nothing.
  5. I do find the religious aspects of being a Paladin very off-putting. But, I think that's fine. Not everything has to cater to me.
  6. I'd definitely disagree that all characters need to max Might, even on POTD. It is an extremely good stat, but then so is Perception. If there's an underpowered stat, I think it's Constitution, although it might be a bit more important now that they removed Health.
  7. Deadfire will probably give me cancer.
  8. Which is exacly what Citzal & Llengrath's Magic Spells do. Citzal : Offensive Might. Llengrath : Defensive Might. [Anyways, I expect a : "What if my Mage doesn't know any Citzal & Llegrath Spells ?" xD] But then, there are Wizards who don't max Might, who are the ones who are most likely not to take those spells. And anyway, a Wizard who doesn't have high Might can still do the spell muscle/telekinesis thing, he's just less adept at it, resulting in less power.
  9. Tell yourself that your Mage "Channels Powerful Magic, [Hint : Citzal or Llengrath], in his Bare Hands to Lift a guy, threatening to Crush his skull with his Spiritual Might". & you're good to go. EDIT : , Am I ? Heh. It's actually reasonable to imagine that Might Wizards can channel their magic to perform feats of strength, either by empowering their muscles or using some kind of telekinetic power. When I think about it that way, muscle Wizards bother me a lot less.
  10. That is something I'm not actually excited about. I'm pretty sure I always used one in PoE but I think that pets are silly little things to have a laugh (except Concelhaut's skull maybe :D) and shouldn't be forced on players, good thing that we're gonna be able to hide them. Kind of shame that we have pets bonuses but class trinkets had been cut though. Oh yeah? Well I am excited. I'm very excited. So there.
  11. "Muscle Wizards" is an invention, by people who couldn't read a Text-Based Description. Come on man. Don't resurrect this sodding topic.
  12. Yes I agree with that too and it's true, but that is only one point, as I said above there is multiple in favour of the opposite not just one point, fighters have regeneration effects whilst barbarians do not, much suiting to warlocks. Also warlocks actually use heavier armour in multiple lore from other games, not WoW but others, not forgetting the choice of armour you wear in this game is totally optional and not tied to your class. I mean that's only if having self-regeneration is very important to your concept of a Warlock, which it isn't to me. To me Warlock sounds more like someone that would leech off someone else rather than have a constant self-regeneration effect. In WoW, Warlocks drain health from other creatures, they don't have built-in regeneration, at least not the way I remember it but it's possible I forgot about an ability. But whatever. Not a huge deal.
  13. I disagree completely Warlock is much more suited to Barbarian Battlemage sounds like a warrior in armor, which is definitely the Fighter.
  14. I always try to play an unusual class and after getting my ass kicked a few times in the first fight, I start over as a fighter (or a rogue so I can scout ahead and don't get stumped by traps or locks). I'm doing it right now in the Deadfire beta. If you have to count on magic protection and good attacks that run out mid fight you have no choice but to hang back. That's a little like you're in the game's game if you know what I mean. I look for characters that promise exciting interesting play and storyline. I don't play dwarves because they are (traditionally) slow and don't feel different enough to be compelling in spite of that. I've played Godlike in PoE but (I don't think) you can change the appearance so it hasn't become my thing. Everyone who plays is playing the same character and that doesn't appeal. I don't think I've ever played a human in an RPG. I've also never played as a white dude though I do in fact make the character resemble me as much as possible. I currently have 3 play throughs as a dwarf. A Barb, a Battle Priest of Magran and a Chanter (Solo). I love Dwarves. Borreals for exceptional DPS builds and Mountain Dwarves for more of a RP/Story experience. BGEEs brought us Dwarven Defenders. Played that class first upon the EE releases. I have 3 close friends who played PoE, they all played at least one completed game with a dwarf. I guess they can track metrics these days via Steam and what have you but that they are saying no one plays dwarves and no one plays Priests seems very odd to me.It doesn't seems odd to me. Play any MMORPGs and watch how many DPS they are compared to tank and healers (answers: healer and tanks are super rare) and the race distribution: dwarf is always at the bottom. But this isn’t a MMORPG. I fully understand the DPS solo play of the MMORPG. POE is a completely different type of monster. It's pretty obvious that most people like to play a character that is similar to their own physiology. It's basic psychology. As for healers, same psychology applies, people want to be leaders, not support characters. Of course this doesn't mean everyone plays like this but we are talking about averages, not individuals. True, and a reason I made the post asking why people play the classes that they do. I'd say that perhaps the DPS popularity is more commonly associated with a need to feel empowered and strong, being able to enforce one's will over others. A leader can be the healer/buffer/speaker like real life leaders who orchestrate the team to their strengths. Isn't it one of the reasons the D&D Cleric was made into a heavy armor tank that could bash people's brains in with a mace, and gradually became an all-conquering, all-powerful meat grinder at higher levels? Because nobody wants to be a wimpy healer? I'm sure I read that somewhere about the original design of the Cleric.
  15. I want to be able to gather all my pets and then make them fight to the death in an arena and then whichever pet is the victor is crowned Prince of the Pets
  16. Just being a Fighter doesn't automatically grant survivability. You can put Aloth in full plate, even with no Fighter levels.
  17. > Damage Threshold renamed to armour rating, very DnD so? > And might is gone and is now strength. this change might be reverting, but anyway: so? > I liked how all the attributes were useful for everyone, this is making that less so. one of the key reasons Josh changed Might to Strength was to make Resolve a more useful attribute, and thus 'more useful for everyone'. > So this is a buff for me, but now it lets mages take a pure defensive and offensive stat in one in the shape of resolve. and it's a nerf for other characters who were able to boost their healing and their damage with one stat > Your graphics sucked and the companions were lack luster (most of em anyway) that is what everyone complained about, not the other stuff. Nobody complained about the graphics, what are you talking about. In any case they are improved in Deadfire... and so are companions...

  19. Never scale! Why should I make the game more difficult when I level up? Levelling up is supposed to make me stronger. Part of the enjoyment for me is gaining power over my enemy by progressing in levels.
