Don't blame the moderators. WoT has gone way way way off-topic. I remember the religious and political debates. They weren't terrible "foaming at the mouth" debates in the first place. I've had some heated discussions with TEETH, meta, Atomic, and even you in the past, but no actual flame wars. It's fun to spar every now and then. It sharpens the ol' rhetorical skills. I don't think any of us involved in those political/religious debates had lasting animosity for one another, no matter how angry we were at any particular time. I hope we get more heated discussions, I was trying to keep one going with the Walken thread, but Atomic stopped posting and the thread devolved into another spam fest. As far as the "foaming at the mouth" thing goes, I'll close threads that get ugly. There's a line between heated but reasoned debate and personal attacks. If there are former members who enjoy engaging in personal attacks, calling other members names, sending hostile personal messages to other members, or other activities of a similar nature, they will be warned, put on moderated status, and eventually banned. I think Di can attest to the sorts of things that used to happen at the old IP boards. These aren't those boards.

What music are you listening to right now?
Cantousent replied to Cantousent's topic in Way Off-Topic
An oldie but a goodie. I remember that song well. It doesn't seem that Hootie and the Blowfish have done anything notable of late. Too bad. -
You guys be careful posting images of your houses and all. I don't want to read about you on the news. It's funny, though, I met with someone from my old RtCW clan, Sith Clan (or Clan .oz as it was later known). It was an interesting experience. Didn't have time for more than one drink, though. He was working a big electronics expo and I was doing the usual volunteer work for the library.

The PS3 without a HD? Guess what the Xbox 360 ...
Cantousent replied to Drakron's topic in Computer and Console
Did someone state that the X-Box was going to ship at $299 with the HDD included? ...Or was the price originally going to be $399 for the package and they've decided to reduce the price? The point is, if they haven't offered less for the same price or more for an increased price, I don't see why it's a big deal that they're offering a basic package. All that aside, I don't intend to buy any system without an HDD. I use my hard disk, and I'll be damned if I'll buy a console without one. If they're too exhuberant with the pricing, I'll buy nothing. -

I've driven past Gilroy many times as I travelled back and forth to see a friend who works for AMD.

Evil looking little tyke, isn't he? EDIT: Okay, okay, we're getting off topic. Every now and then I get busted by the members for getting off topic myself. Let me just say, to get back on topic, that I would never post anything on these boards if I actually thought my wife would see it. She literally hates the idea that I might post anything about us on the net. SO, if she read a message board, I definitely wouldn't post in it. I could lose a lot more than a week's worth of gaming. On the other hand, she doesn't go to message boards, so I should be safe.

Yes, it is time for the perennial question, "where is home?" Okay, I made this one a double question, since so many of you are students, home my be Toledo but you actually live at Harvard or some such. So, give us the dirty on your life. Only give as much information as your comfort level allows. I live in Loma Linda, CA. That's right, Sunny Southern California! It will probably get down to 40 degrees here during the winter. hahahahaha, you hate me now, don't you?

Hahahaha Fried Green Tomatos. Oh, man. This really made my day. Thanks, Deraldin.

Delete it? It's the reason I'm still reading the thread! hahaha

Okay instead of outright deleting posts, I'm just setting them as invisible while they're under consideration. draakh, you're moving in the right direction. At least this time your post was sexual without involving food. :D Ironically, Ender's has a better chance of seeing the light of day. Considering where his lyrics have been, I find that oddly amusing. Since we're on the Beatles, here's one: Lennon/McCartney Once there was a way to get back homeward Once there was a way to get back home Sleep pretty darling do not cry And I will sing a lullaby Golden slumbers fill your eyes Smiles awake you when you rise Sleep pretty darling do not cry And I will sing a lullaby Once there was a way to get back homeward Once there was a way to get back home Sleep pretty darling do not cry And I will sing a lullaby BTW, Crimson, my wife and I are Oingo Boingo fans. I'll find my favorite and post it.

Oh man, this was just great. I'm serious, read this thread! I'm still laughing. :Eldar's wiping tears of laughter from his eyes icon: I would comment more, but I don't want to spoil the joke for those who read the link.

I will be buying this game either tomorrow or Thursday. I'd rather discuss the full version, after all.

I've only had to delete one song so far. I can't remember the name, but it was the Caligula song. Heh, even the NWA song passed muster. This is the second time I've seen that Gay Bar song. It looks like there's a cat, a dog, and a... rabbit? huh? Weird stuff. I like your song, Lady Crimson. Who is it? Is it an original, or are you quoting?

Iron Maiden was one of my favorites in my youth. Here's a goldie: 5. The Trooper [Harris] You'll take my life but I'll take yours too You'll fire your musket but I'll run you through So when you're waiting for the next attack You'd better stand there's no turning back. The Bugle sounds and the charge begins But on this battlefield no one wins The smell of acrid smoke and horses breath As I plunge on into certain death. The horse he sweats with fear we break to run The mighty roar of the Russian guns And as we race towards the human wall The screams of pain as my comrades fall. We hurdle bodies that lay on the ground And the Russians fire another round We get so near yet so far away We won't live to fight another day. We get so close near enough to fight When a Russian gets me in his sights He pulls the trigger and I feel the blow A burst of rounds take my horse below. And as I lay there gazing at the sky My body's numb and my throat is dry And as I lay forgotten and alone Without a tear I draw my parting groan. It's about the Charge of the Light Brigade.

Fox news is a reputable news source. It is no more biased than other mainstream media sources. It is different only in that its bias has a conservative slant. Since I tend to take my news from a wide variety of news outlets, I think I would have caught Fox news in a blatant lie or in complete failure to give an adequate account of a story. Now, I often notice a variety of angles from different news sources. Nevertheless, I don't see this as any worse from Fox News than anyone else. Attacking Fox News as a reliable source of news is, in the United States at least, a popular way to undermine conservatives. Conservatives, on the other hand, have been attacking CNN in the same way. I've heard Communist News Network, Clinton News Network, and even Communism NOT News. The fact is, however, that CNN and Fox News would lose shares if they outright lied. For my purposes, I'll take any of the major news networks, although I imagine Fox News tends to be a little more pop culture. It's interesting, but it's also frustrating to watch. For the most part, these networks dedicate more time to talking heads than actual news. I'm not responsible for O'Reilly or whatever his name is. I don't cite him as a source.

Play nice with one another. Be respectful of the president, Servant. Be respect of your citizens, Mr. President. I'm going to leave all the lyrics as is for the time being, although I might, after careful consideration, edit out the more egregious lyrics as I have time to actaully wade through all of them. Having listened to a lot of NWA as a youngster (I had a friend who listened to nothing but Rap) I can't help but think I might have to remove that one. Still, I'll read through everything and leave it alone unless my discretion and the guidelines lead me to action. Having looked over everything at a glance, nothing warrants a formal warning, even the Caligulaesque song mixing sex and food, although I might move that one to uncharted territories. It's just weird, at any rate. Okay, here's my contribution. Pink Floyd The Gunner's Dream (Waters) Floating down through the clouds Memories come rushing up to meet me now. In the space between the heavens and in the corner of some foreign field I had a dream. I had a dream. Good-bye Max. Good-bye Ma. After the service when you're walking slowly to the car And the silver in her hair shines in the cold November air You hear the tolling bell And touch the silk in your lapel And as the tear drops rise to meet the comfort of the band You take her frail hand And hold on to the dream. A place to stay "Oi! A real one ..." Enough to eat Somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street Where you can speak out loud About your doubts and fears And what's more no-one ever disappears You never hear their standard issue kicking in your door. You can relax on both sides of the tracks And maniacs don't blow holes in bandsmen by remote control And everyone has recourse to the law And no-one kills the children anymore. And no one kills the children anymore. Night after night Going round and round my brain His dream is driving me insane. In the corner of some foreign field The gunner sleeps tonight. What's done is done. We cannot just write off his final scene. Take heed of his dream. Take heed.

News! China launches 'improved' version of RotS
Cantousent replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
I could close this thread for being off topic, but all of this nonsense apparently comes from the original link. Weird stuff, though. -
If it hadn't been for the reputable source (yes, I consider CNN, MSNBC, and FOX news all reputable sources) I would have thought this was a joke. I guess it still is a joke, just one of a different kind.

Ah, Gromnir, you know you're all royalty. Of course, you know some of the members of the court, so maybe you'd rather be an ent? As for me... shhh, I've got a clean record here.
