  1. getting close to the thread length hall of fame. I will take one of the next few posts, edit it, and use it to create the new "To what are you listening right now" thread. I'm listening to "Rock me Amadeus" by Falco.
  2. Really, we worry about bird flu, mad cow disease, and a host of other problems but we're willing to drive the freeways. Walking down the street after dark in a big city is more dangerous than eating raw hamburger. SARS? It's killed... what? less than a hundred people? I understand that mobilizing the health community to combat these diseases has undoubtedly lessened the danger, but the danger was undoubtedly overstated by the media in the first place. Everyone anticipates the next pandemic, but pushing the panic button over west nile, bird flu, or mad cow just doesn't make sense to me.
  3. Mighty Mighty Bosstones -- The Impression That I Get Have you ever been close to tragedy Or been close to folks who have Have you ever felt a pain so powerful So heavy you collapse I've never had to knock on wood But I know someone who has Which makes me wonder if i could It makes me wonder if I've never had to knock on wood And I'm glad i haven't yet Because I'm sure it isn't good that's the impression that I get have you ever had the odds stacked up so high You need a strength most don't possess Or has it ever come down to do or die You've got to rise above the rest I've never had to knock on wood But I know someone who has Which makes me wonder if i could It makes me wonder if I've never had to knock on wood And I'm glad I haven't yet Because I'm sure it isn't good that's the impression that I get I'm not a coward, I've just never been tested I'd like to think that if I was, I would pass Look at the tested and think there but for the grace go I might be a cowards, I'm afraid of what I might find out I've never had to knock on wood But I know someone who has Which makes me wonder if i could It makes me wonder if I've never had to knock on wood And I'm glad i haven't yet Because I'm sure it isn't good That's the impression that I get

  5. Depressing news. I'd read this same news on MSNBC before I visited these boards. I thought it was weird to read the story and come here to see it pop up right away. Whatever strange things were happening, it's not a 9 year old girl did anything to deserve being suffocated under her grandfather. Depending on his height, 212 pounds isn't particularly heavy. I mean, 6'3" or so, and he's neither overweight nor big boned. The thing about leaving his wife stranded at the grocery was weird. The authorities are undoubtedly compelled to dig into the story to see what kind of circumstances surrounded the deaths. Well, on that note, good night. EDIT: 212 pounds, not 21.
  6. Yeah, but I still like Creed albums.
  7. I feel guilty for helping derail the thread. Of course, it makes no difference that I find the new topic more interesting, we should get back to the picture. I make nothing of it except to note that there are no dogs to be seen.
  8. I think concept art often doesn't look like the the actual game.
  9. I find big cities with roaming bands of wild dogs depressing. I have to admit, however, I'd love to visit St. Pertersburg. Some of my favorite novels are set in or around the city.
  10. I would have stopped the dog.
  11. Hey, don't forget freecell!
  12. Alas, Josan is merely a specter from the past. He is just another ghost of the Isle.
  13. Think whatever you like. :D
  14. Interesting song, Winter. It's a bit gloomy, but it's intriguing. Reveilled: I'm a Billy Joel fan. I wouldn't say I'm a bit one, but I like his music.
  15. In honor of Drabek's Creed thread.... Arms Wide Open -- Creed
  16. Luckily for me, I live in a nice little spot of ground in Loma Linda. I'm also the loudest member of my neighborhood. My hearing isn't all that great, so I sometimes crank up the stereo to compensate, thereby damaging my hearing even more. heh heh Folks who buy next to airports or bases shouldn't complain.
  17. I'm a charter member! You whipper-snapper, you!
  18. I dunno, I was hoping for something different, but I'm game to try most any genre, although I trend to RPGs and FPSs. This one seems closer to an FPS. The movie could be good, but I'm thinking dvd rental. Thanks for the link, my supreme king.
  19. For you, Josan, no warnings. Only dark looks... :madr: Glad to see you still come here from time to time. If you could just get Cappy to come and say hello, it would be a family reunion! Next time give us a desktop, dammit.
  20. Quit picking on my friend, jodo kast. If you don't, then I'll tell Darth Launch and you'll be in real trouble. My days of wearing military dress of any variety are over. I do have to admit, however, that I was in better shape running up and down the shoreline of Virginia Beach. Hard on the boots, but great for the physique. Now, I'm a 36 year old in serious need of exercise.
  21. I'm 36. That's like 233 in cat years. I'm firmly convinced that our average age is probably early to mid-twenties on this board. From what I've seen of the posts and what I know about folks online, that seems right. Never mistake maturity, or lack thereof, to be a good indicator of age.
  22. Yeah, but my understanding was that we could choose artwork from concept to screen. ...And that's one of my favorite screenshots.
  23. I might just take a stab at IWD again. It was my second favorite Infinity Engine game. Come to think of it, here's some artwork from my favorite game: http://www.planetbaldursgate.com/images/im.../pst011999e.jpg
  24. Which area is that? I think it might be the underdark.
  25. Great choices, julian. I especially like 2 and 3. The moon rising behind the building, the ship to the side. It's beautiful.
