  1. I would most certainly say they are not interlinked. As I said, I played the original KotOR plenty of times. I knew every glitch in the game, of which there were plenty. They didn't detract from the overall story at all. As someone who is not satisfied with the story, I would very much like to see what I am missing to make it something I can enjoy much more fully. My response is an attempt to keep this thread on track and civil, and not degrade into two parties calling "idiots" and "stupid newbs". You are welcome to criticize my use of "a point of argument", but you would be incorrect to do so. There are multiple points being made, not just one. As I said in my original post to this thread, tossing around insults in not the way an intelligent individual goes about pointing out the flaws in somebodies logic.
  2. Runs With Scissors is only refering to the threads which question the integrity story, which are plentiful. The technical issues found in the game are not a point of argument in this thread.
  3. The bonding crystal is found in the crystal cave on Dantooine. You can enter the cave at any time, to get it. The leader of the security forces will give you a quest in there if you want to kill two birds with one stone. You will also be required to go in there later to move the story forward, so you can kill three birds with one stone if you want. The crystal is in the large crystal formation in the center of the room at the back of the cave. I went in just after getting to Dantooine -- as I searched for the things that were there in the first game. I then returned to complete the side quest and the required visit later. The Ultima Perl is found at different points. I can't remember where I found mine, but it was just on the body of someone I beat. I did get it before Malachor V too. If you notice, other people have asked other variations on the questions which are being answered. Being insulting towards the people you are asking for help is never the best way to get an answer.
  4. It took me a little to understand what I was doing with the numbers, but once I understood the puzzle isn't that hard. I can't recall the solution, so I'll point you in the right direction with hopes it will help. You have 4 columns of numbers, with the option to rotate then in "groups". You can rotate the first two columns, the middle two columns or the last two columns in clockwise or counter-clockwise direction. This means that columns 2 and 3 are shared between the options. You are only given 3 rotations, and you will need all 3 to complete the puzzle. Look at the order of the correct sequence (the bottom set, I believe), then find the sequence in the upper set and make the rotation accordingly. You will rotate each one of the "groups" once. If I remember correctly, the order is center-left-right. I don't remember the direction and I may be mistaken in the order too... sorry.
  5. You do eventually see them again. But their involvement in the story after that is almost as confusing and answers nothing. I guess it depends on what you believed happened at the KotOR1. In the case of a Lightside character, the Star Forge is destroyed. I've not played through as a DS in KotOR2 so I don't know if they go into that at all. If say Raven was a LS Female, Carth shows up one more time towards the end. But he gives you doesn't give you much other then talking about his parting with Revan. I'm not sure about this part. I either missed it, or do not recall it. Can you give a little more background? Mandalor is Canderous. It doesn't apper that the story talks about him remembering or not. You can buy some good upgrades. Weapons, on a whole are not too spectacular unless you can find the right upgrade for the right weapon. This I actually liked about the story -- I had to swap out weapons for the right situation much more often in KotOR2.
  6. LucasArts will not condone or officially support any modifications made to the game. LucasArts owns KotOR, therefor Obsidian will not condone or officially support any modifications. Simple point of survival -- don't bite the hand that feeds you. It is doubtful that the game will be any more difficult to modify. I would speculate that you will see mods out for KotOR2 much more quickly, since I would assume much of the internals to the game are the same. If save games are stored under a similar format (little reason to change them) then character editors will appear within a week of the PC release. I think most developers are smart enough these days to understand that people are going to modify games. Some still try to do everything in their power to prevent it. The smart ones just say they don't support them and if you use one, you're on your own.
  7. You should be able to care about your group members though, that is the point of some of your responses to Kreia.
  8. You do not need to be at the top of the Spire in order to Juhani to express her feelings for you. It can be done anywhere as long as you have satisfied all the conditions. She will express her "feelings" for you as a Male too. It is just the natural ending to her dialog, which people have blown out of proportion.
  9. There appears to be 2 endings. Both very broken and unsatifying. There is a lack of group member specific sidequests. Remember from the first, that you could undertake a complete side quest for all but one (T3-M4) of your party members. In KotOR II, it is just dialog options. No matter how you interact with the final bosses, the ending is the same. They say nothing to indicate that more focus on any of the group members, or side quests, would alter the ending in any significant way. I've also not run across any posts concerning the ending that seem to differ from my own.
  10. You can go to GameFaqs and download a save game with the maximum experience at the beginning of the game. You just need an Action Reply in order to load it onto your XBox.
  11. *shrug* ... one way to find out.
  12. No. The answer hasn't changed since my second post.
  13. I'm certainly not going to buy one, but maybe I'll borrow the one my friend was suckered into buying.
  14. Nothing made it so great. At no point in the story is it ever hinted that your lightsaber is anything special, other then the fact that it was yours. You can say that it was a very unique color, but nothing about its power is said to be anything over that of a regular lightsaber.
  15. You can't. You already have a your (new) own anyway.
  16. *cough*cough* Oh gosh. It would appear I accidently bumped this post while coughing. Excuse me. If you know any points of influence, please reply. Let's help eachother out!
  17. Nope. You need to initiate them.
  18. You are refering to Uthar's (the Acadamy's leader in KotOR) room? You can blow the door with some charges you find in another room. There is a datapad near the charges that explain the concerns you should have about using them. You can not re-enter the Academy on Koribban once you leave.
  19. I'm trying to put together a thread with all this information in it. Please don't let it fall away -- I think it will be helpful to everyone! http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=26579
  20. Now that's funny! (w00t) That is a darn good analogy. I agree. I ended up playing KotOR 9 times. I own both the PC and XBox version. I've considered playing it again in recent weeks. For KotOR II, I just feel obligated to get through at least one more time so I can finish all the optional things I didn't my first time through. Ah! I didn't think about that. The ritual still isn't explained, that I remember, but it having something directly to do with the attack, and outcome, on Onderon makes sense.
  21. I agree. But more to the point that, in my opinion, if anybody buys a *story* based action-rpg "for the graphics", or any game for that matter, just "for the graphics" they are buying it for the wrong reasons.
  22. I was very disappointed that nothing respawns. If I want to hang around Dantooine until I'm level 99, why can't I? But, we'll see if there isn't a way to sneak into a FLU process in KotOR II -- maybe it just requires being in the right place and working with the right person.
  23. Is there a point in the game, that anybody caught, in which you determine your ending? The point at which you decide if you will receive the light or dark ending? The point in KotOR was at the top of the spire on the Unknown World. No matter how good or evil you where, you could turn it around at that point -- which really made all your previous light/dark decisions meaningless. If there is a point like that in KotOR2 I'd like to find it and get a save point just before it, so I can work with some dialog between the two paths. Maybe something, somewhere, will help explain some of the larger plot holes I am still having trouble with.
