  1. thomas HA! Good Fun!
  2. This sentence is painful. "Forget that. Forget all of that." HA! Good Fun!
  3. *chuckle* wod is the one talking nonsense, and judicial review o' executive actions regarding national security and immigration is hardly unprecedented. perhaps worst for the wh is that the appellate court, a diverse group which includes bush, obama and even a carter appointee, were unanimous in identifying the ultimate bogeyman in the mess that is the travel ban executive order: procedural due process. like it or not, many folks affected by the travel ban can raise 5th amendment due process whether they is citizens or not, and individual states can raise a claim on behalf o' those with such rights. put it in visual terms easy to understand: honest, if this thing were to make it to the SCOTUS, we predict it would be a 7-1 decision with trump on the losing end, and not 4-4 as some folks imagine. the order were poorly drafted, and the appellate court, while not pulling any punches, laid out a pretty nice road map the wh can use to fix where they went wrong. smart move would be for trump to start over with a new order and get it right this time. the good thing for trump haters everywhere is, given trump's all caps response we quoted above, he is not gonna be smart. HA! Good Fun!
  4. we got no problem going this way, but am not certain what manifested has in mind. typically, "pirate" would be a theme, so how do we narrow or refine to make it unique and yet accessible? most theme notions coming immediate to our mind is tending towards humorous. not intentional neither. honest. when leferd pointed out how he didn't want the pirates to say, "arr!" we inexplicable thought o' pirates with australian accents who are obsessed with acquiring refined luminous adra, which they nickname "juice." what else? retired corporate raiders. former members o' the VTC who sold their stock, bought an island? pirates who mutinied 'cause their captain became obsessed with chasing the leviathan? undead pirates? no. just no. am honest a bit stymied at the moment. am trying to think serious, but keeps becoming funny, 'cause anything serious sounds even worse in our head. ex-slave pirates. why? because. privateers in the employ o' one o' the dyrwood lords, or the duc himself, tasked with raiding aedyr ships. somebody wanna get this started? somebody not Gromnir. HA! Good Fun!
  5. well, in the context o' deciding 'pon theme, am suspecting we can make that a choice, no? if folks would prefer to come up with broad guidelines for obsidian and let the developers complete run with it from there, we don't see an issue. wanna kinda put in your own words and suggest? am assuming fluffle is gonna keep track o' themes. we kinda assumed folks wouldn't be on the same page at this point. quicker we get some kinda consensus the better, yes? HA! Good Fun!
  6. keep in mind we are talking 'bout the request o' an emergency stay o' a tro. might not be quite what some folks thinks it means. HA! Good Fun!
  7. kinda missing the point if you see progress. is an anachronistic to reinject an early edition d&d anachronism into poe-- a game which is finally shedding itself o' such baggage. we already got food and drugs which can increase spell effectiveness. add bloat via anachronism. am not seeing an upside. HA! Good Fun!
  8. Yes, I'd say that the difference between not being able to cast a spell at all without a resource and not being able to cast a particular augmented form of a spell is an essential one. The former restricts access to the basic features of a class, while the latter only limits a particular casting option that already has a built-in, component-free, alternative in the form of Empowerment. am not seeing why you think this makes better. you would effective be buying uses of empower with a resource. empower is a basic feature. *shrug* HA! Good Fun!
  9. sure it is. am honest not seeing the disconnect. you create an arbitrary limit on spell casting: a resource o' as yet undefined scarcity. the resource is needed to cast an augmented spell. distinguish 'tween augmented and standard is illusory. if you wanna cast an augmented fireball, you need a wuzzle, or whatever. is somehow essential different 'cause there is no limit on casting the base spell? why? is an anachronism. stuff salt in its mouth and sew it shut. cut off its head. burn it. whatever. HA! Good Fun!
  10. the doj pretty much dared the court to deny the appeal. were kinda akin to the following doj were arguing separation o' powers and deference to the President. "Despite the district court’s and our own repeated invitations to explain the urgent need for the Executive Order to be placed immediately into effect, the Government submitted no evidence to rebut the States’ argument that the district court’s order merely returned the nation temporarily to the position it has occupied for many previous years. The Government has pointed to no evidence that any alien from any of the countries named in the Order has perpetrated a terrorist attack in the United States. Rather than present evidence to explain the need for the Executive Order, the Government has taken the position that we must not review its decision at all. "We disagree" am not surprised by the ruling. HA! Good Fun! ps more appropriate vid
  11. is why we suggested votes, with obsidian being final arbiter. perhaps manifested invests a complete unique pirate concept: nial "the drowned cat" o'toole, a tawny-furred orlan barbarian/monk brawler who perhaps favors the new drug using monk subclass too much. fluffle, on the other hand, goes straight up boardie identity with a big pink coastal aumaua rogue/fighter: captain fluffle. is no reason the two characters would be mutual exclusive in a pirate crew, depending on theme. HA! Good Fun!
  12. am not certain why bolstering is significant. is an arbitrary limit which will necessarily affect the completionist different than the critical path player. critical path player can still cast a fireball, but the completionist who will likely have far more o' your components will be the guy able to fire off super nova fireballs as if they were being unloaded from an automatic weapon? in a single-player campaign, with a live dm, those spell component scavenger hunts can be made integral, fluid and fun. kill zombies. don't try and make friends with 'em. HA! Good Fun!
  13. spell components? we just got rid of vancian and you want spell components? why won't theses 2e d&d anachronisms stay dead. worse than nazi zombies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-KhNEOe70M HA! Good Fun!
  14. am admitted confused by obsidian's (repeated) stretch goal confusion. perhaps funding is moving quicker than anticipated, but one expects a list o' possible stretch goals woulda' been generated far in advance o' the fig campaign, as well as some kinda basic formula for dealing with slow or fast fundings. is not complicated to plan ahead. funding milestones is hit by date X, and minor adjustments is automatic implemented? guess it weren't a priority, but considering how the obsidians seemed to be having an inadequate stretch goal plan for poe1, we woulda' guessed special attention would be given to poe2 stretch goals. is not a big deal. one day elapsed w/o a future stretch goal listed bothers us little to none. even so, am a smidge surprised. HA! Good Fun!
  15. already has "SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!" HA! Good Fun!
  16. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/federal-appeals-court-refuses-to-reinstate-trump-travel-ban/ar-AAmMFn8?ocid=spartanntp http://cdn.ca9.uscourts.gov/datastore/opinions/2017/02/09/17-35105.pdf HA! Good Fun!
  17. yes. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91277-lets-found-a-pirate-group-and-buy-a-pirate-ship-together/?p=1878062 http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91277-lets-found-a-pirate-group-and-buy-a-pirate-ship-together/?p=1878887 am thinking a shortlist o' fifteen for a pirate crew we send to obsidian still makes sense, even if am doubtful we can, as a group, handle such. have three other npcs on the island in addition to the crew. either submit and vote similar to the crew, or come up with something else. HA! Good Fun!
  18. thanks aarik. ok, this is gonna sound sarcastic, and it kinda is, but can anybody think o' a reason we would want less than the maximum o' eight npcs? am gonna make suggestion o' five o' the eight being a pirate crew. also, am submitting earlier suggestions, but, y'know, on an island instead o' a ship. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/91277-lets-found-a-pirate-group-and-buy-a-pirate-ship-together/?p=1878062 HA! Good Fun!
  19. is not a useful query for us. if we were an obsidian writer, we would feel different, but as a player we want the developers to come up with companions we do not expect. we want companions who surprise us with motivations and growth. we want companions we did not actual imagine, but in hindsight, after playing the game, we cannot imagine how the game coulda' been made without the companion. give us what we ask for is doomed. actual give folks exact what they want and they will hate you for it. make a game with a story and characters who is what is most asked for is gonna result in complaints o' derivative, over-familiar, tired and boring. give Gromnir exact what he specific asked for is similar doomed, but we avoid such a problem by not asking. don't give us what we asked for. make us wonder why we never thought to ask for the characters obsidian made for us in poe2. HA! Good Fun!
  20. he was arguable motivated by isis and any number o' other sources. sure, omar's father went on air and gave a homophobic rant, so is complete unreasonable (sarcasm) media outlets would check the homophobe angle, y'know, seeing as how the shooting occurred at an lgbt club. given the lack o' specific ties to isis, complaining that at least a few media outlets were correct when they didn't blame radicalization specific 'pon isis hardly seems like a reason to criticize the media, but you can keep pursuing this line o' alternative facts if you want to further diminish your credibility. oh, and just how many articles from media did you find in our link where the media assumed and reported a link to isis? 1? 3? dozens? serious. oh, and the white house alternative facts stance regarding gorsuch is getting even more wacky. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/spicer-gets-into-heated-exchange-with-reporters-after-insisting-gorsuchs-comments-had-nothing-to-do-with-trump/ar-AAmMrI6?ocid=spartanntp ""It was a very distinct argument that he was making," Spicer said. "And that's where I think we've got to be clear. And that's what Sen. Ayotte was saying. Very, very different. ... So you can't then take that and equate it back to the specific. ""Asked specifically about Sasse's comments, Spicer avoided answering. " https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2017/02/05/trump-walks-back-false-voter-fraud-claim-in-interview-with-bill-oreilly/?utm_term=.af9fcf0a83b7 "“I know,” O’Reilly said, as if conceding the tediousness of the whole fact enterprise. “But you’ve got to have data to back that up.” "Trump launched into a couple of disconnected sentences about dead people and dual-state registrations and “illegals”—the group he has blamed for Hillary Clinton receiving almost three million more votes than he did. With the Super Bowl about to begin, he could have cited a frequently made analogy: that she might have prevailed in passing yards, but he got the score on the board. Instead, sitting with O’Reilly, he demonstrated again that he would rather disparage the integrity of the entire American electoral process and raise suspicions about minorities than concede to reality. As he often does, he did so in the supposed name of confronting hard truths. “We can be babies,” he said, or we can join “a lot of people” and come out and declare that the situation was bad and that Trump was correct. O’Reilly stopped him. "“But the data has to show that three million illegals voted,” O’Reilly said. "“Forget that. Forget all of that,” Trump said, and made a gesture toward setting up an investigative commission, which Vice-President Mike Pence would lead. That seemed to satisfy O’Reilly, who moved on to when Americans could expect a tax cut." we are being so overwhelmed by alternative facts from trump and trump supporters that they has resorted to hoping we forget. and it is kinda working. we honest can't keep up with all the nonsense. look at wod tying himself in knots and it is nothing compared to the contortionist routine spicer needs must endure almost daily. "forget that?" well, forget you. HA! Good Fun!
  21. ... so, you are complaining that media outlets were accurate reporting the lack o' isis ties to omar mateen? y'know seeing as how john brennan specific informed Congress the cia were not “able to uncover any link” between omar mateen and the islamic state, am thinking your criticism is ridiculous and bass ackwards. if you were complaining 'bout how so many news outlets were hypothesizing a link 'tween isis and omar before they got facts, then we would see room for complaint. but you are actual trying to complain 'bout the media being correct. but knock yourself out going through the link https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS699US699&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=islamic+state+orlando+shooting looks like now we are getting alternative facts from posters as well as politicians, which weren't genuine our aim, but what the hell. HA! Good Fun!
  22. who the heck is "they"? you buying into trump's notions o' a unified media conspiracy. you serious want us to list all the reports on orlando which identified the murderer as a terrorist with links to radical islam? oh, and it were the cia chief who told the senate there were no ties found 'tween omar and isis. media started looking into other motives? *feigned shock* this is past surreal. HA! Good Fun!
  23. "Potions of, not youth, but vitality." so, little blue potions... of vitality. *wink* gotcha. regardless, am hopeful somebody pulls josh back from the brink. have colonialism be the poe 2 thematic focus the same way faith were in poe would be terrible. am oglala and even Gromnir is groaning at thought o' seven or eight companions trying to be evocative and compelling while sharing setting lore and opinions 'bout colonialism. even in the mission(1986), the colonialism were secondary. 'course maybe obsidian will go for an avatar (2009) approach. *shudder* am not seeing good coming from this news 'bout shift in theme. HA! Good Fun!
  24. Don't know why Gorsuch is conspiring with his enemies against the man who nominated him though, talk about an ingrate. If he has something to say, say it to Trump's face. don't be ridiculous. so trump is quibbling over "abhorrent" in spite o' fact "disheartening" and "demoralizing" were exact quotes? after all the times spicer, conway and others has had to spin trump lies, ("what the President meant was...") would be more than a little hypocritical to claim "fake news" 'cause gorsuch added "abhorrent" to genuine "disheartening" and "demoralizing." wanna again go through the list o' wh offered terror events the media s'posed didn't cover? all this post statement o' trump spin and revisionism is dizzying. "Sen.Richard Blumenthal, who never fought in Vietnam when he said for years he had (major lie),now misrepresents what Judge Gorsuch told him?" more after-the-fact spin to cover trump alternative facts. and some people, always the same people, is buying such piffle. am actual sympathetic to spicer. his first presser were having to deal with trump's inflated crowd size estimates, and apparently he weren't forceful enough in dealing with the press. trump wanted spicer to be tougher. *sigh* spicer is stuck as the guy explaining all o' the social media and interview blunders trump and his staff is creating, and he needs present an image o' toughness. makes him seem like a "numbnuts." serious, we see spicer and we can't help o' think o downed pilot hostage videos. am not being serious, but is easy to imagine somebody holding a knife to spicer's wife and kids behind the blue curtain. HA! Good Fun!
