am gonna suggest frankenweenie is criminal underrated, though am less a fan o' alice and miss peregrine than is hurl we s'pose. we read the miss peregrine book(s) after seeing the movie and were all the more disappointed in the burton film. am thinking sleepy hollow deserves more love; it is a visually remarkable film regardless o' any issues you might have with storytelling. sleepy hollow were released after mars attacks! that said, am gonna admit how when it comes to movies and books made for kids, am having a less than common pov. family fare or written for kids is all too often offered as qualifiers for anticipated perceived shortfalls in storytelling and am just not seeing the need for the crutch. oh sure, there is indeed films which is gonna appeal specific to kids and adults is perhaps able to appreciate vicarious even if the movie is objective not great. that said, is a whole lotta good movies which kids may enjoy. a swiftly tilting planet was an excellent book. period. so too were the phantom tollbooth and the graveyard book. iron giant, spirited away and the princess bride are excellent movies. no qualifiers required. regardless, am not thinking a beetlejuice sequel is needed, but am embarrassed to admit how in spite o' such a recognition, the chances o' us seeing the deetz and maitland clans in a new burton film is approaching 100%. HA! Good Fun!

we could stop right there, 'cause seemed to answer our previous questions. are you going for comedic irony? btw, please note our initial reply were general advice applicable to anybody who wished to make use o' melon in ways less common. regardless, as you are no longer even pretending to discuss your personal and curious food and drink road to perdition... *eye roll* aside, for our younger relatives, we also make watermelon roll-ups (or fruit leather,) which is easier than one might suspect. when we suggested juicing watermelon and then freezing, the solids need not be discarded. combine the watermelon solids with a bit o' sugar and lime juice and then spread onto a lightly greased baking sheet. place the baking sheet with the thin layer o' watermelon goo into a 170 degree oven and after two-to-three hours the watermelon will be dried enough such that it is no longer sticky/tacky. cut the "leather" into strips and roll. btw, the rolls require little storage space. just doing our part to bring the thread back on-topic. unpopular gaming opinions - here's mine, share yours

knowing how to make rancid beer is nevertheless a useful skill. a friend o' ours, at 3:30 am, once mused that if he were to be marooned on a desert island and he could only take two things with him to the island, he would choose a goodly supply o' beer and a broad-spectrum antibiotic. am not sure why he got to choose two items, but those were the rules o' the scenario. not bad choices. beer, bottled proper, is gonna last a considerable time, will be resistant to rot or degradation and would be representing a good source o' carbohydrates you would be otherwise unable to replicate on a desert island. we do not drink booze, but we always thought we should learn how to make beer. also, most o' our best conversations has happened during the hour of the wolf. edit: updated unpopular gaming opinions-- fo: nv would have been better w/o caeser's legion and in particular w/o caeser. were requiring sooperhuman resolve to avoid speed clicking through caesar dialogues. "non-linear" is a used car sales pitch in virtual every story-driven game ever made. provide a whole bunch o' optional and tangential side-quests does not make any less linear. ... warhammer 40k is a great tabletop strategy game setting, but am less a fan o' 40k for rpg. 40k is intentional over-the-top and tongue-in-cheek. am thinking meaningful role-play and storytelling is prohibitive challenging with 40k save in small doses. is doubtful anybody would say such, but knock yourself out with the imagining o' what would be a response nobody offers. regardless, the manufactured obstacles is hardly noteworthy. if you cannot fit anything in your electric powered cooling devices, then you are indeed beyond helping, but it sure seems unlikely. 'cause is frozen cubes o' puree, in a bag, is not requiring much space in your chosen chiller appliance. am not even gonna try and guess your "emotional" hurdles to making minimal space in a freezer, but am not doubting such exist. buy a small seedless melon and eat some o' the watermelon, freeze a bit o' the puree and use rind for pickles. your previous concerns 'bout spoilage is addressed and the solution(s) result in is almost no waste. *shrug* regardless, no doubt for lc the "physical, financial, emotional" burdens o' melon usage is immeasurable. finding a way to add watermelon to drinks, which is something you says you like, is emotionally taxing in ways indescribable. we do not whish to make light o' what is clear simultaneous ineffable and elegiac. as such am apologizing for making light o' what is clear an incapacitating problem. The Lamplighters League Dev Diary #7 – Allies, Supplies, & Customization The Undrawn Hand is a deck of cards that has the uncanny ability to change a person’s fate. It is the signature relic of the Lamplighters, filled with cards that look blank when drawn but show themselves for Lamplighters that tempt fate in service of the fight against evil. With it, you will create builds unique to your friends playing Lamplighters, with opportunities to unlock the most potent of combinations. The Lamplighters League Dev Diary #8 – The Race for the Tower If any of the three Clocks fills completely and hits the final Breakpoint, that's game over, for you and for the world as you know it. But there's still a ghost of a chance to pull things back: a Last Stand mission you can run to stall them for a short time. The stakes are high, though. Last Stands are difficult, and failure means losing the world. ... am wondering why/when the card "feature" became popular in rpg and tactical rpgs 'cause is not the first recent title am having seen cards as gameplay. also, while am ordinarily opposed to quest timers, am recognizing how the three clocks in lamplighters is effective keeping score o' the strategic elements o' the game and therefore at least has a purpose. also, the lamplighters clocks ain't hidden or arbitrary as is the fail in many games. even so, there is a tendency for "game over" time management aspects to be poor implemented or unnecessarily punishing, existing only to create a layer o' difficulty for games which would otherwise be too ez. am appreciating the informative developer diaries and we remain optimistic 'bout the title. is some folks who spend max effort explaining why they cannot do. *shrug* freeze watermelon puree or juice in ice cube trays avoids the spoilage quandary. one small watermelon is gonna yield puree enough to flavour drinks for a long time. if an individual enjoys watermelon flavored drinks as indicated earlier, freezing the puree o' the melon would appear to be a solution... unless the person is not genuine looking for solutions. HA! Good Fun!

leave 'bout 1⁄4" o' pink watermelon flesh attached to the rind but remove all the green skin. compared to pickled cucumber, the results is... different. that said, even a small watermelon is gonna produce a couple quart's worth o' rind, which probable means most o' your rind is ending up as compost in any event, but is nevertheless worth trying at least once. HA! Good Fun!

mentioned previous how contrary to a few myths, watermelon freezes excellent. as a drink ingredient, am finding the best application is to puree or juice a seedless watermelon and then freeze the result in icecube trays. juicing requires a bit o' effort as you are gonna be using a blender or food processor to liquify the watermelon and then forcing the goo through a fine mesh strainer to remove all the solids. puree is incredible simple and results in watermelon drinks with a bit o' solids akin to pulpy orange juice. don't worry if your puree looks a bit thick. 'cause o' science, freezing breaks the watermelon puree down further as the formation o' ice crystals is like thousands o' little knives ripping the watermelon from inside-out. once the puree defrosts, it is tending to be far more liquidy then when you first freeze it... and am ok with the fact liquidy is not a real word. the resulting puree or juice ice cubes may be stored for a considerable period o' time in a freezer safe container. we ordinary run out o' frozen watermelon 'round christmas or new years. also, do not throw away the rinds... or at least not all o' the rind. one o' summer's most overlooked treats is watermelon pickles. is many online recipes for watermelon pickles so feel free to pick one which looks good/ez/whatever. traditional ratio is 1:1:1 for sugar, water and vinegar, but we tend to go a bit light on the sugar; somewheres 'tween 1/2 and 3/4 cup. if you are using one(ish) cup each o' the aforementioned, am recommending a bit more than one tablespoon o' salt. personal we use a vegetable peeler on ginger and add a few strips to the pickling mix but spice/flavours you do for quick pickles is gonna work for the watermelon. the black humor being the no compromise gun rights folks see such incidents as further proof o' the need for more guns and greater gun protections. after all, if the victims had been better armed and trained, maybe they coulda' survived their encounter with a mexican national. guns don't kill people... incidents like these makes it all the more reasonable for people to be afraid o' their neighbors. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/04/20/florida-sheriff-hate-crimes/ He’d been angry that no one called him when his parents got swatted. Luckily, the 911 dispatcher had thought the murder-suicide report sounded fishy and called his mother, who confirmed they were alive. The police still sent over three officers. Chitwood’s father, unsure if they were real officers, had opened the door carrying his Smith & Wesson revolver. “You should have called me, Dad,” Chitwood said, still in his cycling spandex, when his parents came over that evening for buffalo chicken and white pizza. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/04/15/police-shooting-wrong-house-video-new-mexico-dotson/ After the officers appeared to laugh at the notion that they mixed up the addresses, police backed away and shined a light on Dotson once he came to the door of what authorities thought was the house with the domestic violence report, video shows. But the officers were supposed to be at an address across the street, according to police. When Dotson opened the screen door and began to raise his firearm, police opened fire on the homeowner, who quickly fell to the ground, according to body-cam video. 'cause anybody could be armed, it is reasonable to afraid o' everybody... especial at night. fear is justification for using deadly force in self defense. eventual the no compromise people is gonna recognize the insanity they embrace, right? nope. there are a few jalen carter issues not specific related to his multiple off-field character incidents. against ohio st., carter looked a bit chubby and his performance deteriorated during the game. in retrospect, jalen carter were almost never asked to play nfl analogous pass rush snaps per game while he were in college. ohio st. represented the most such pass rush efforts he ever faced in college. lack of conditioning showed. furthermore, at his pro day, jalen were in poor shape. am guessing more than a couple teams had football specific questions 'bout choosing jalen carter number one. at number nine? based on nothing save football, is doubtful any team would second guess choosing carter at nine. 'course a young man with a history o' character problems and accusations o' being lazy is a questionable hire for any job. give that same young man millions o' dollars with the expectation his character and work ethic will improve is borderline insane. maybe jalen carter finds jesus or has some kinda football epiphany, but am thinking absolute nobody will be shocked if jalen carter busts and is not playing football after his rookie contract expires. dallas has a history o' taking guys with character/legal problems, and then people wonder why dallas consistent underperforms. in college the service academies typical overperform in spite o' a lack o' on field talent. the value o' character in football is less mysterious than many suggest. yeah, no amount o' character is gonna turn air force into a perennial national championship contender, but with the draft scheme utilized by the nfl, every team may select nfl quality players who also show discipline and character. as for grading drafts, is always best to wait a couple years and consider in hindsight. most teams is happy with their selections immediate after the draft. was nothing 'bout the dallas draft which were headscratcher horrible or fantastic. overshown might be the player we were most curious 'bout o' the dallas day 1 & 2 picks. the bad v. the run and plays soft is legit criticism for overshown if you look at his college career. however, is difficult to overstate just how much the lb improved in his final year at texas. based on athleticism measurables, overshown may be close to hitting his ceiling, but if overshown improves as much as a dallas rookie as he did during his final year at texas, then dallas picked a win in round three. speaking o' people on drugs... "It appears the 'violence' spoken of didn't happen until after the police went to try and disperse the protest, or as you might call it 'censor or ban their freedom of speech'. (Although that would in some ways be more accurate than the way you used it, since the police have got some kind of government connection going on.)" you said the police actions amounted to censorship and you were pretty clear offering the the state sponsored censorship as an explanation for the violence. so... put down the pills, needle, pipe, etc. before it's too late. btw, the logic fail is also a brain on drugs issue. call something protesting does not result in the impossibility o' the protests rising to a level which makes it censorship. "protesting is not censorship." ignores the reality that protesting may indeed be censorship just as it can be violent or criminal. there is indeed a fail wherein some people equate censorship with a violation o' the First Amendment. the dr. seuss estate may self-censor and it in no way results in a First Amendment violation. the uc davis story first amendment issues is different if the event happened at university of the pacific instead of uc davis, 'cause a private institution is not a state actor. etc. all o' which ignores the point we keep coming back to and people miss so often. legal ≠ right. student protests meant to drown out messages they don't wanna hear is attempts at censorship, but they is not necessarily violative o' the First Amendment. legal or protected doesn't make 'em necessarily right neither. students who rage at any message they don't wanna hear, complaining o' the need for trigger warnings to prevent microaggressions and the demands for safe spaces is protected by the First Amendment as long as they peaceful make their demands, but am thinking is obvious not so settled that such efforts is right. and in spite o' the deflection again, am suspecting chair's defense o' the protesters woulda' been different if the victims o' police suppression were robed clansmen attempting to censor a trans speaker. would chair have offered up the recognition that the proud boys and clansmen only resorted to violence after the police attempted to censor them as defense o' the actions by white supremacists? HA! Good Fun!
-
again, change facts so at uc davis it were a speaker promoting trans rights and equality, but proud boyz, klanzmen or other wackjobs showed up to protest. am having no idea what story you read, 'cause you didn't share, so am not knowing what you deem to be cops censoring, or what amounted to dispersing o' protest, or what were the explanation as to why the cops felt justified in doing so. in any event, if at some point the local police intervened and began dispersing the klansmen protesting a trans speaker invited to uc davis, would you have excused resulting klansmen violence? maybe you would. maybe you believe violence and mayhem is the proper universal response to censorship. it isn't, but maybe that is your belief. even so, am wondering if your indignation is same if is villains such as white supremacists committing violence, eh? btw, IF the local and university cops at the charlie kirk event had dispersed a peaceful protest on a state university campus w/o justification, then am personal able to think o' at least ten excellent lawyers who would take the protester's resulting first amendment case pro bono. however, IF the protesters resorted to violence... furthermore, police busting up a peaceful protest w/o any justification woulda' been even bigger news than the uc davis knuckleheads who got suckered by charlie kirk and his proud boys. "Though I may not be here with you, I urge you to answer the highest calling of your heart and stand up for what you truly believe. In my life I have done all I can to demonstrate that the way of peace, the way of love and nonviolence is the more excellent way. Now it is your turn to let freedom ring." am able to imagine situations where we would reluctant choose to embrace violence as a form o' protest, but the uc davis situation, even as you describe, is unlikely to satisfy our personal threshold. fallout new vegas The Most UNDERRATED Fallout Game Ever
Gromnir replied to The Wet Chef's topic in Computer and Console
am not sure what makes a game underrated in the fallout context. as noted in the video, the reviews for fo:nv were actual good save for a few dreadful outliers, only two metacritic points lower than fallout 2 for perspective. the commentator waxes rhapsodic 'bout the original games and the "critical praise" they garnered. again, there two metacritic points difference 'tween fo2 and fo:nv. ... am gonna suggest fo:t is the most underrated game and not 'cause o' bad reviews but 'cause o' the vicious response from the hardcore fanbase. fo:t was, as it were advertised, a squad-based tactical combat game. no mutants allowed folks went apesh!te over hairy death claws and the reaver dance encounter. yeah, hardcore fallout purists were no less indignant 'bout fo 3, but fo:t were meant to appeal to the nma and codex folks. fo:t were not getting love from a new and different generation o' fo fans such as fo3 enjoyed. fo:t were not a perfect game, but the first 2/3 or 3/4 were an excellent turn-based tactical combat game and did not deserve the savage response it suffered from the fallout faithful. HA! Good Fun! -
knee jerk defense o' serial stoopid 'cause you agree with the viewpoint o' the protesters? ... "CBS Sacramento reported that some protesters reportedly used pepper spray in an attempt to keep would-be audience members out of the building. " the protesters had made threats during the week leading up to the charlie kirk event. as such, no police presence woulda' been idiotic. your feels that violence happened once the police attempted to quell protests is based 'pon? protesters were assaulting those who wished to view the event. protesters broke windows and vandalized property. am gonna suggest it is possible to argue that police did not intervene quick or forceful enough once violence occurred, but somehow you reverse and make the police actions the cause o' protester violence? serious? if the davis protesters had stood outside buildings, chanting their outrage at charlie kirk and the uc davis chancellor, there would have been no story making national news. 'course the proud boys and charlie kirk were much aware just how little it takes to provoke a violent response from young and stoopid in 2023. https://www.cnn.com/2023/04/28/us/pittsburgh-student-protest/index.html gen z protesters and a small number o' antifa idiots keep repeating the same mistake. if you are losing a battle o' wits with charlie kirk and the proud boyz, then you are clear doing something wrong. blame on cops, boomers or sunspots ain't helping. gen z woulda' so been triggered by william f buckley. ensuing violence woulda' been okie dokie if cops arrived? in 1963, while john lewis spoke to crowds in washington dc, would you have defended robed klansman heckling and assaulting people attempting to hear the future Congressman speak? doubtful. change facts and make so that at uc davis it were an invited speaker advocating for trans rights recognition and the protesters who eventual engaged in violence were the proud boys. @Chairchuckerwould be defending the proud boys in such a situation? be honest. from mr. lewis' final essay: Though I may not be here with you, I urge you to answer the highest calling of your heart and stand up for what you truly believe. In my life I have done all I can to demonstrate that the way of peace, the way of love and nonviolence is the more excellent way. Now it is your turn to let freedom ring. defense of self and defense o' others against immediate violence is excuses for violence. the presence o' cops, charlie kirk or michael knowles is so not reasonable excuses for vandalism and violence. btw, am not making some kinda inane equivalency argument. violence from white supremacists in the US is many orders o' magnitude worse than the stick and pepper spray wielding antifa nincompoops or brainless university undergrads. the attack on Congress on january 6 were so not the same as rando george floyd protests in sheboygan. the problem is the young liberal minded folks who see themselves as standing up for Justice while ignoring free speech principles not only fail to recognize the hypocrisy o' their actions, but they is time and again being suckered into the performance art spectacles engineered by the proud boyz and charlie kirk. honest, how stoopid do you need be to keep falling for the same bait?the proud boys set up the situation at uc davis and stanford 'cause they knew how easily provoked is genz and antifa morons. these campus displays is repeated and is engineered purposeful to have substantial cop and camera presence so as to display the hypocrisy and stoopid o' young liberals 'cause then folks like bruce will have ammunition when they engage in false equivalency arguments. btw am applauding young protesters for vocal criticizing individuals such as charlie kirk. maybe ain't a legal duty, but as we observed with book burnings, remaining silent when you see a wrong being committed or ignored is wrong. young protesters should be vocal. would be nice if those same undergrad firebrands bothered to vote too, but baby steps are required. the thing is, once you cross over from peaceful protest to violence, you are trampling on the grave o' folks such as john lewis, and such should not be tolerated. make excuses that you were provoked by the proud boys or police presence is idiotic. gonna say it once more: if you are repeated losing a chess match with the freaking proud boys, you are doing something wrong. fall for the same obvious ruse again and again andagainanadagainanadagainanadagainandagainandagainandagainandagain? that kinda willful stoopid is not forgivable. HA! Good Fun!

so, a former President is on trial for rape but if you read/watch fox you might not be aware o' that fact. top story from fox news is five days ago: Billionaire Dem donor defends bankrolling Trump accuser's rape lawsuit as judge seals funding docs It's unclear why Judge Kaplan, who is not Carroll's lawyer, would keep the materials a secret from the public, given that Hoffman's role as financial backer is public knowledge. Earlier this month, Habba asked the judge to delay the trial and reopen the discovery process in the case, explaining that Carroll's legal team had disclosed that a nonprofit funded by Hoffman — American Future Republic — had given money to Kaplan's law firm. The funding was "particularly relevant in the instant matter given the political overtones of this case" and Trump's 2024 presidential campaign, Habba argued. wapo site from today: E. Jean Carroll says #MeToo inspired her to go public with accusation Carroll and Tacopina verbally sparred at times during his questioning, which lasted about three hours. She appeared to grow irritated at some moments, including when the attorney asked why Carroll did not scream when Trump allegedly assaulted her. “One of the reasons women don’t come forward is because they’re always asked, ‘Why didn’t you scream?’” Carroll said. “Some women scream, some women don’t. It keeps women silent.” After more back-and-forth with Tacopina, Carroll responded with audible frustration: “He raped me whether I screamed or not!” ... am thinking @Hurlshotis gonna need wait before his desired media sea change manifests. 'course the top story at the wapo site is: Conservative dissenters block abortion limits in Nebraska, South Carolina While it was women who helped defeat the measure in South Carolina, in Nebraska it was an 80-year-old man who stalled it. Sen. Merv Riepe, a longtime Republican who would have been the decisive vote to advance the bill to a final round of voting, abstained over his concern that the six-week ban might not give women enough time to know they are pregnant. Riepe told the Flatwater Free Press that he was concerned the Nebraska bill would be viewed as a total ban. “At the end of the day, I need to look back and be able to say to myself, ‘Did you do the best?’” Riepe told the paper. “No group came to me, asking me to do this. This is of my own beliefs, my own commitments.” HA! Good Fun!

The Hunt for Mexico’s Heirloom Beans The Rancho Gordo Bean Club am still on the waitlist for the bean club. the domingo rojo is our goto option when we make our good red beans and rice recipe. our splurge replacement for black beans when am making soup is the ayocote morado. have never personal tried the mayacoba but we saw a spot from atk where the bean was described as tasting, "like candied bacon." serious? we also have a bean whisperer t-shirt from rancho gordo which gets more than a few stares. the texas rb is a curious selection because while expert consensus is he ranks as the best rb prospect since saquon barkley, rb is having such diminished value that it is difficult for many teams to invest any first round pick on an rb. few people would be surprised if bijan robinson dropped to the later half of the first round, 'cause is only a handful o' teams willing to draft him round 1. by the same token, he could go in the top ten. as for te, michael mayer is a guy much like the aforementioned suggs and thomas in that his athletic measurables are not elite, so it will be interesting to see just how far he drops. edit: jahmyr gibbs, the alabama rb, is rating as a top-ten overall prospect on many team draft boards. we would not be shocked if he were drafted round one. also, tyree wilson has been dropped complete from a few team draft boards as there is reported unresolved medical issues related to his foot. brown paper bag edition so, draft day is here... https://www.nfl.com/ https://walterfootball.com/index.php "* After parting ways with Zeke and with Pollard on the roster, muh Boys move up and draft Bijan." not seeing why this is funny. recent zeke production has been uninspired and the cowboys remain idiosyncratic a run-first team. bijan robinson is the only guy from this draft we feel confident predicting as a likely future hall of fame inductee... barring injuries 'course. trade up to get the best player in the draft makes sense. is hardly shocking both the patriots and cowboys appear interested in the texas rb. as usual, the most predictable funny is gonna be how teams way overreach for quarterbacks, although is not gonna be necessarily funny in 2023. the raiders jamarcus russell pick were funny, but on day 1 o' the 2007 draft, pundits were split on the wisdom o' choosing russell and few woulda' suggested the lsu qb did not deserve a first round grade. how far does he fall stories is funny... and sad. am not feeling sorry for jalen carter dropping 'cause he is carrying so much baggage. even so, would not surprise us if a team which talks 'bout character and the importance o' team leadership nevertheless selects the georgia star. converse, is gonna be a terrell suggs or zach thomas player who had world beater stats in college but cause o' less than impressive measurables he is predicted to slide. suggs ended up going tenth in the first round in spite o' a terrible forty time. zach thomas ended up in the hall of fame, but his terrible combine performance included a woeful vertical leap and bad forty time so he dropped to the fifth round. gonna take the safe bet and suggest the most immediate draft funny will be related to something improbable a draft expert says. mel kiper and booger mcfarland is obvious picks for a "what did he say," award. suzy kolber, who frequent interviews round 1 players immediate after they has been selected, has been known to ask asinine questions. in any event, the most amusing story is gonna be qb overreach, 'cause it happens almost every year. fyi, the state efforts to prosecute trump, assuming such efforts by the respective state DAs proceed as anticipated, is not gonna result in trials starting soonish. if ms. willis indicts in july, then a trial is unlikely to happen until late first quarter o' 2024, or even a bit later. the ny thing, if it even goes to trial, will occur late 2023. however, the feds do different than states insofar as speedy trial is concerned. defendants have a right to speedy trial in state court proceedings as well as fed, but is likely trump don't want speedy. am assuming team trump will delay state prosecutions as long as possible and it sure looks as if the state prosecutors dragged their feet before indicting. the feds tend to be meticulous 'bout building their cases, and they rare charge unless they is certain they will win, so if charges are brought against trump by the feds, then am suspecting more than a few people will be surprised by just how quickly a fed trial happens. observation: if the feds get a first crack at trump and succeed in convicting trump for the mar-a-lago documents kerfuffle, then significant pressure on state prosecutors to bring trump to justice is removed. am not reading the minds o' the ny or ga prosecutors, but we cannot help but recognize how much easier the political lives o' willis and bragg become if trump is already convicted by the feds before state criminal trials begin. HA! Good Fun!
