two in a row... and equal unlikely, a superhero flick am looking forward to, albeit with reservations. first were fantastic. in our top three o' sooperhero movies. we were quite skeptical o' the first miles morales movie before seeing it. glad we were wrong. our initial thoughts is a spiderverse sequel is understandable from an economics pov but am seeing as all too likely to diminish the story. nevertheless, am looking froward to #2 in spite o' some reservations. HA! Good Fun!

it isn't the fuel which ignites. is the gaseous fumes from the fuel which is burning. an aircraft traveling at ~300kmh wherein the fuel is not contained in tanks but rather open to the great blue sky is gonna be a challenge to set alight and result in any meaningful damage regardless. the fuel dump itself were kinda silly as am assuming the drone is built to fly through heavy rains which is gonna be more immediate impactful than would the largely aerosolized fuel dump. HA! Good Fun!

made beans and greens https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1021902-braised-white-beans-and-greens-with-parmesan we don't much follow the 'bove recipe but our version is a close approximation and is one o' the few ways am willing to eat kale. am making 'bout 1/2 what is called for in the nytimes version and even so am only using 1/2 C o' chicken stock as posed to 2C and am adding 2x as much red pepper flakes. added 4 cloves garlic, but that were 'cause one o' the cloves were just a wee little thing. ordinarily we skip the fennel and use more onion. today was "ordinarily." broccoli rabe or escarole is gonna be our go to greens, but we also like kale for this concoction, so we used one fair sized bunch o' kale. no mozzarella in our version but we do use a decent amount o' parmesan. obvious if you want more healthy you are gonna reduce cheese. we chose not to reduce the cheese. the times for cooking in the linked recipe is wrong for us. it always takes more than four to six for the kale begin getting wilty and our single can o' cannellini beans (again, am doing 'bout 1/2 the recipe) demands at least the eight minutes to be reaching proper tenderness. admitted, to begin having the kale become wilted we cook covered medium-low as 'posed to uncovered medium. to finish am adding a healthy drizzle o' olive oil and fresh grated parmesan . no lemon juice, though that would bring brightness to the dish. am not a vegetarian by any means, but we do enjoy beans and greens. HA! Good Fun!

@Gorth we viewed the newish jacques pépin video we linked in the youtube algorithm thread and it occurred to us we did not recognize the brand o' olive oil he uses. is noteworthy monsieur pépin, while not hard up for cash, is rare splurging on exotic and overpriced ingredients when doing his home cooking. he uses mccormick spices, mazzola corn oil, and generic grocery store brand beans. unpretentious. am mentioning 'cause we didn't immediate recognize the brand o' extra virgin olive oil he uses. https://cobramestate.com.au/ or https://www.cobramestate.com/ not sooper expensive regardless if is ca or australia. we tagged gorth for this 'cause is likely he is gonna have ez access to cobram australia olive oil. we didn't start using costco for anything but gasoline until the pandemic, but am admitted a limited convert to the warehouse grocery culture and one item we do not hesitate to purchase is the kirkland brand 2l italian extra virgin olive oil. in spite o' the low cost am having no qualms 'bout the quality. even so, am gonna at least try cobram the next time we run low on olive oil. HA! Good Fun!

0 subscriptions... evar. we do current check out atk regular. has been at least a year since jacques pépin posted anything at his site or pbs/kqed, so am not checking him with any frequency. (edit: literal checked jacques pépin moments ago and noticed a new video at kqed... six days past and first new in over a year. gonna note how from mr. pépin we learned a couple decades past to cut along the bone o' chicken thighs to get more even cooking... is something he does in the linked vid. so obvious in retrospect but for years we never thought to do so. however, we will observe how particular for a guy in his 80s he should be more careful handling raw chicken.) other than cooking, most o' the stuff we follow is kinda technical legal or science. is a few history channels we do peek at and a couple is even entertaining. the atun-shei is kinda a hoot, so maybe once a month we look. even so, 0 subscriptions and am feeling no handicap in finding info. HA! Good Fun!

obvious answer: people miscalculated. would hardly be the first time in history that happened, yes? is much easier to sit at your kitchen table and discuss as a family how raising a goat for eventual slaughter is gonna be difficult than it is to live the moment where a young person needs sacrifice an animal with which they has emotional bonded. talk 'bout responsibility. discuss the emotional side. have everybody at the kitchen table reach an agreement based on clear-headed reflection. fantastic. unfortunate, talk, discuss and agree is all too often not gonna prepare people for reals. *shrug* as shady noted, he had seen more than a few youngsters go through a last minute change o' heart. we saw a few fair day tear explosions our self. am suspecting in most such cases the individuals involved thought their day at the fair would go different. it happens. it happens often enough that it ain't a surprise save to those persons who predictable miscalculated. the la times didn't write a story about parental and young person error with the 4-h and ffa animal husbandry programs 'cause is not newsworthy. happens all the time. shasta's response were what were different. HA! Good Fun!

am a bit older so our recollections show a kinda evolution. when we were young am recalling at least a handful o' kids initial backing out of future farmers or 4-h sales, but those reluctant children were never allowed to win such conflicts as parents would step in and utilize increasing corrective pressure up to and including the application o' a beating just outta view o' fairgoers. is one example o' how am thinking some progress has been made in child rearing as we has seen a clear temporal trend in favour o' avoiding the use o' force or emotional blackmail to make children reach a correct choice. ... gonna admit that a few decades past we woulda' read the story and been nonplussed by the involvement o' law enforcement, but given the way we were raised and the time in which we grew to adulthood, our initial reaction woulda' been to blame parents for not teaching their child responsibility. "“Our daughter lost three grandparents within the last year, and our family has had so much heartbreak and sadness that I couldn’t bear the thought of the following weeks of sadness after the slaughter of her first livestock animal,” she wrote to Shasta District Fair Chief Executive Melanie Silva." 80's Gromnir: sorry but everybody has a hard luck story and it don't sound as if the grandparents all died within days before the sale o' the goat, so were the parent's responsibility to prepare their child for what was going to be nowhere near the hardest choice she would need eventual make. suck it up buttercup 'cause life only gets harder from here. 80's Gromnir were a bit less huggable. is also worth noting how shasta county is kinda like a nightmare brigadoon with too many residents channeling an 1800s mentality... or maybe 1600s 'course the academic support for teaching children lessons through corporal punishment and/or emotional trauma is non-existent, so in spite o' our own experience, am now firm opposed to the shasta county, "teach this little girl a lesson," efforts. is more than a few studies which conclude that treating kids as if they is very short marines going through bootcamp is bad and while there is indeed a few studies which is ambivalent on the matter, we have yet to see support for the soul crushing approach save for the unconvincing anecdotal, "when i was a kid," kinda evidence. however, am not a parent, so am also recognizing how is far easier to be judgy w/o needing raise a child who is perhaps less amenable to kindness and gentle persuasion. am only kinda kidding 'bout shasta btw. on the positive side, is doubtful @Hurlshotand his daughter need worry they could end up being part o' the next la times story 'bout goats on the lamb as is doubtful gilroy and santa clara county would take the shasta approach. HA! Good Fun!

am thinking they might disown you anyway if a 2-day pickle is resulting too much sourness. just sayin. edit: @Keyrock point possible missed. you expressed the desire to add more carrot to your soup take the edge off the sour from the pickles when the obvious solution is to choose a less sour pickle alternative. is plenty o' authentic polish dill pickles which is existing in the half sour range. ask the grocer in pineville for a recommendation. the soup is not meant to use extreme fermented dills which is gonna result in more sour even w/o vinegar. HA! Good Fun!
-
late unsolicited advice: instead o' adding carrot for more sweetness, either make your own pickles or use a brand o' polish dill which is tending towards less vinegar. there ain't no vinegar used in making dill pickles but near every store brand has vinegar. go figure. even if eschewing vinegar, store brand dill pickles is almost invariably gonna be on the sour end o' the spectrum so look specific for "half sour" if you buy from store. am finding krakus is a nice peppery polish dill w/o too much vinegar. HA! Good Fun!

curious, we mentioned another film score by sakamoto not long ago ... hesitate to mention, but thomas dolby and sakamoto were collaborators, which always had us wondering... ff to 2:53 if you don't feel the need to indulge almost four minutes o' quintessential 80's pop. HA! Good Fun!

new lamplighters dev diary. HA! Good Fun! ps fixed... maybe. aside, devs says they ain't doing "camp," so am taking them at their word, but the characters sure sound and look to be humorously exaggerated while leaning heavy on the clichés. is accidental?

Planescape: Torment 25th Anniversary Remake...
Gromnir replied to Sargallath Abraxium's topic in Obsidian General
torment has gotten more love than most older games which didn't sell, fallout being a noteworthy exception. https://www.beamdog.com/games/planescape-torment-enhanced/ https://www.inxile-entertainment.com/games/torment-tides-of-numenera the inxile title had actual planescpe developer folks working on their updated version. converse, josh sawyer was the web guy for torment. obsidian don't have a planescape license and their ties to the title is increasing remote. so... HA! Good Fun! -
is a long list o' rich people who has gone to prison, including micheal cohen... and is worth mentioning cohen 'cause ny is gonna try and says cohen went to prison for trump. 'course convicting trump for the pr0n star hush-money is not as ez as a few pundits make it sound in part 'cause the system is rigged in favour o' defendants, as tough as that may be to believe for all the angry libs out there. european countries don't have anything like the exclusionary rule and the whole grand jury process itself went outta vogue for euros in the late 1700s. standards o' proof is much higher in the US compared to near all europe and asia. however, even in 2023, most juries assume cops is telling the truth which ain't a matter o' law but o' culture. etc. the reason(s) we got so many in prison here in the US is social, economic and cultural (and kinda unforgivable) but the US legal system is in fact far more defendant friendly than other western nations and democratic republics. however, is true you ain't getting a full and vigorous defense in the US unless you pay for it, so the rich do enjoy substantial benefits. heck kyle rittenhouse weren't wealthy but arguable one reason he stayed outta prison for his stoopid is 'cause his crowdfunding efforts resulted in a significant war chest for his criminal defense. regardless, if trump don't go to prison for pr0n star hush-money is gonna be less 'cause the rich get away with everything as 'posed to fact nobody has ever been successful convicted in ny for what the manhattan da is attempting to prosecute trump. the US Government went after john edwards for something similar in 2011 and they failed. ny faces a tougher challenge than US v. edwards, so... trump is a terrible person, but you don't go to prison for being terrible. our overcrowded prisons would have 100x as many people locked up if being terrible were enough to get you imprisoned. for those who loathe trump and want to see justice done, am recommending not holding your breath waiting for the guilty verdict from ny. the tax evasion thing is a real problem for trump if bragg went that way, but am just not confident trump ends up behind bars for hush-money payment reporting fails. edit: also is noteworthy the doj didn't choose to go after trump for the fed election/tax issues once 45 left office. am understanding the main hurdle for indictment were the fact the feds thought michael cohen were a terrible witness, and am gonna suggest that for a successful hush-money prosecution, cohen needs be better than terrible. also, as difficult as is gonna be to believe, from our pov the more significant legal news from today is not the hoopla regarding trump. dude. ... dude. "In its partial ruling in favor of Dominion, the court did determine statements made by Fox were statements of fact and were not statements of opinion." "The court also determined that Fox "cannot avail themselves of certain defenses like the neutral report and fair report privileges or the privilege for opinion"" furthermore, punitive damages were not excluded, which am thinking is nevertheless a tough mountain for dominion to climb but such damages is the kinda thing which could result in serious pain for fox and real changes to US journalism in general. fox reaction to today's dueling summary judgement rulings. HA! Good Fun!

up until 2016 we voted based on individual candidate character, competence and goals as 'posed to party affiliation, but we tended towards choosing moderate republicans more often than not. the thing is, in 2023, the republicans has become a party which downplays or even defends the the inhumane treatment o' immigrants, the use o' masked federal agents in unmarked vans to kidnap individuals w/o a warrant or even probable cause, the events o' january 6 and book banning. even if we ignore the corpulent orange elephant in the room, am not seeing how is possible to vote conscience and republican in 2023 albeit with one exception. regardless, even if you are in favour o' fiscal responsibility and small government (which is maybe not current gop values but is definite not major issues for the democrats) am seeing as near impossible to align self with the party banning the kite runner, the handmaid's tale and 1984. am also agreeing raskin is "good at this" kinda thing but admittedly the current gop makes it ez. HA! Good Fun!

The Cases Against Trump: A Guide the article perhaps oversimplifies a smidge, but am not finding fault in the overall analysis save to note am viewing the fulton, georgia case with a bit less ambivalence. "Willis has the advantage of the recording of the Raffensperger call, which is close to a smoking gun." the thing is, there is now three confirmed recordings o' trump pressuring people to find him votes in georgia. david ralston and an investigator from the georgia state secretary's office also made recordings. is a small armory o' smoking guns? how many smoking guns is needed to make one confident about a prosecutor's chances? have said previous, and am reiterating, any jury trial involving trump is gonna be uncertain. that said, we would have an extreme difficult time explaining why the people o' georgia did not pursue charges 'gainst trump. converse, we mentioned in an earlier post how am not confident 'bout the ny case, but am admitted not an expert on ny law. 'course am not even certain what is the charges which may be brought in the ny case, although the speculation 'bout crimes for which trump may be held accountable is based on decent information as 'posed to pure conjecture. even so, bragg's efforts is resulting in more angst than am thinking is warranted. mar-a-lago and fulton is where we believe trump is most vulnerable. is serious vulnerability in both cases. HA! Good Fun!

on the off chance gd is suffering from ______________, am gonna avoid describing how miserable and soul crushing is having to endure the symptoms or treatment o' ___________. ... we were engaged during our last year o' law school when we discovered we had a condition which had a high chance o' leading to significant health problems at some point in the future. ended the engagement 'cause from experience we knew how hard is such health problems on family and close friends. US health care also means even minor medical issues may financial devastate a family, and that sorta pain is disproportionate felt by lower-middle and lower income families. we don't wish serious health problems on even those we dislike. tangential related, we got our urgent ortho surgery referral today and scheduled an appointment. may 16. am only imagining what a not urgent time frame woulda' entailed. HA! Good Fun!

add us to the list o' folks who will caution 'bout the grapefruit thing. chemotherapy btw is not just 'bout treating cancer. is a number o' med issues treated by chemotherapy and not all is dire. can't speak to cancer treatment, but at least one o' those not cancer chemotherapy treatments is impacted by grapefruit in multiple ways 'cause even when one o' your meds is not immediate impacted by grapefruit, the testing you routine go through to check deviations and changes to baseline numbers may be skewed by grapefruit. HA! Good Fun!

somehow missed this until this past monday and our accountant didn't tell us 'bout the change. IRS: May 15 tax deadline extended to Oct. 16 for disaster area taxpayers in California, Alabama and Georgia is four CA counties not impacted by the deadline extension, so is worth double-checking. HA! Good Fun!

@Gorth am not a fan o' pickled herring but that spread don't look terrible. am not seeing any rotting walrus/whale blubber but you nordic peoples can be sneaky with the menu. unrelated, but as soup has made a few appearances o' late, am gonna share a couple videos from jacques pépin as he is kinda our soup pole star. had never considered the quick grits as a thickener 'fore we saw the 'bove video. also, to show how flexible is the soup approach, is another variation from 2008. is so rare one is able to use "unpretentious" and "french" to describe one individual. HA! Good Fun!

Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous, Part 6
Gromnir replied to bugarup's topic in Computer and Console
no idea. am only certain that if you play treasure isles dlc as a side quest to the main game, then the star rattle rewards post patch is the undeniable truth goggles. have not tested where the dlc is played as separate from the main campaign and am not having run through the entirety o' the chase and prey portions o' the dlc to be knowing what other l00t changes may have been implemented.
