No. And Deus Ex IS a Role Playing Game: it grants increases in the PC skills for advancing the plot (which is the preferred method, and fast becoming the official method, for NwN games, for example) and also has multiple ways to solve the issues posed in the game, AND has multiple endings. I think Baley should have his intestines stuffed with C4, with a fuse out his bottom, and then sent in to be a suicide bomber against the Eldar. I also think that Numbers should tip off the Eldar, so that when Baley blows up, the group gets to be trusted more by the Eldar. I think that way the Eldar will lend support in the battle against the spirits. (Baley will be out for a while, but he should recuperate ... or not ")

It would just need to be a Deus Ex / System Shock 2 with more RPG depth. Good sound. Something that instantly transports the listener to the game and the mood (dark at the beginning, but with slight highlights promising hope). Writing the story is the hard bit, graphical bells and whistles are all nice, but the story is what will bring the audience back in ten years, not the graphics.

And the best part would be the DEPTH of play, being able to complete tasks in parallel ways, with different starts and consequences, as well as side quests (i.e. non-crtitical, whimsical adventures in the world).

Only Golden Saint and Ascended Sleeper (not Dagoths taking the form of Sleepers) souls can be used to make permanent enchantments in the base game. So it is reasonable to say that Havok engine can couple with the UT3 (or is that going to be called UT2007?) or Doom 3 engines, for example? That's pretty cool. What about licence fees? With Carmack making the Doom 3 open source, developers can use it and then theoretically plow some of the savings into licensing the Havok engine ...

I think you have to be significantly Dark Side or you will get the Light Side options (companions and ending).

They all do have an effect. I think you are over-simplifying the alignment system, which is easy to do, because GL has never mentioned anything more than Light and Dark, yet RPGs generally use a minimum of two-dimensional co-ordinates for alignment: Good-Evil and Choatic-Lawful axes.
