  1. It's Robot Wars in NwN (2)!
  2. I don't see any pictures ... I wouldn't want to close the topic for being off-topic ... "
  3. Oops! :"> Sorry for breaking the illusion ... " ... But I have no choice, so you all should suffer my fate, too ...
  4. You mean people haven't used wasd ?
  5. Don't tell her, it'll prevent your ability to stalk her ...
  6. She'd cheat, and poison the Belgian freako before the big contest ..
  7. They were up to version 1.65 last time I checked (a while ago) ... there is an online synchronisation process (as long as you have access to the 'net).
  8. But thats basically saying you have no choice but to powergame. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's therapy! Helping those less fortunate to understand that balance (and moderation) is good in life! "
  9. I think the problem is one of expectation, and management thereof. Gamers going hell-for-leather to level-up are going to get exactly what they deserve ... just as those who pace their levels, making sure they have a few attributes to multiply during the process, rather than just levelling because it is possible.
  10. Death of a thread. :'(
  11. No, you will not see level 80 sewer rats. You will see level 80 monsters, local to the area that you are.
  12. So, it's not the game's fault: it's the faulty players' strategies (or lack of cogent strategem)! lack of balancing whilst building character -> lack of balanced character
  13. Phantasy Star 5? )
  14. Well, you don't have to level ..! "
  15. There ain't much science in Star Trek, either ... a lot more than Star Wars, but still not much. If one has some writing nous, it is quite easy to see the "seams" in the plot, where the writers have gone to the trecknobabbelists and said "we need something to stop the group from communicating with the ship here" and "something happens and the ship is unable to follow them" etc. The writers have become more skilled in the art of writing for Star Trek, though, as the series have matured over the decades: now they have special "experts" who give advice to the writers (or rather did) when required ... so that "Heisenberg compensators" are now part of the technical landscape in teleporters, and "inertial dampeners" go offline when the actors run sideways on the set pretending that the ship has just hit something, for example. Space Opera is a good term.
  16. ... And the best part of owning NwN is being able to play the thousands of community mods, of which Kingmaker and Witch's Wake are just two. Check out the NwN Vault for the Hall of Fame. Also has an interview with Bioware about their module writing contest, too.
  17. Anyone else starting to feel old? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why are you looking at me when you say that? " Correctamundo!
  18. That's a personal problem. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh? Not that I am aware of. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nartwak means that, just because you think the definition of fantasy doesn't include aliens and space ships, doesn't mean your opinion that aliens and space ships ∉ fantasy is reality. There is precious little science in Star Wars. Take a look at some of the nerds trying to rationalize the unrationalizable, viz. an arts grad (GL) trying to create technology more advanced than what we have currently. All comparisons are odious. The delineation between SF and Fantasy is meaningless and entirely personal. I use a spectrum, with "hardcore" Science at one end, and fantasy at the other. That way I can easily plot all types of fiction onto the axis.
  19. The strategy guide?
  20. Which is why I wouldn't want them on the market! if society reduces you to a spoiled child even in adult decisions like love, then we are truely ****ed.. but offering it as a sort of public service (in Denmark it was semi-legal to hire prostitutes to handicapped at some point, in fact some institutions still do it). And maybe we could eliviate some of the most serious sexrelated problems, like rape etc... but not going that far I still believe people who aren't able to interact socially, due to physical and/or severe mental disabilities, could be helped alot this way... and no I don't believe we would've solved that problem before robots.. unless we allow future parents to genetically alter their children before pregnancy or birth! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> you've hit on the disturbing social trend of the new millennium ... the Bridget Jones Syndrome, or more people living alone. Would this exacerbate the problem? Possibly (or maybe it would just alleviate some of the symptoms of loneliness). Would it encourage a more egocentric attitude on future populations? More likely. The only reason (outside religion) to compromise one's interests in for a partner or family (and even then, there are exceptional people who are just thoroughly selfish). Still, if it removed the demand for prostitution, and thereby helped remove the sex-slave-trade, then it would be worth it (doubtful: the humans would just be sold cheaper to undercut the competition: after all, they cost nothing). What about an artificial person to act as a submissive for aggressive people to beat up?
  21. Yes, the regular version has a lovely map. You're just jealous of my Big Coin. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is a lovely coin ... it'd never be legal tender anywhere without magic, however, because the bronze embossing is too deep and intricate: it would be worn flat in no time (or miscreants would slice off the larger protuberances and melt them down for ill-gotten gain). It must have a dweomer of avarice cast on it ... :D Are you thinking necklace / jewelery, or wall-mounted / display case ?
  22. Phantasy Star was an enormous JRPG of mythic proportions ... I remember than one fondly, too ... as well as the previous games in the series ...
