  1. Is that with DivX coded footage, or just a standard DVD in the drive and playing it as a film?
  2. Good advice for everywhere ... "
  3. In other words you favour Huxley's Brave new World view of the future to George Orwell's 1984 view. I vote for the third way: genetics and AI merged into Homo Sapiens Digitus!
  4. I thought this was a putative contest to ascertain who would win a whodunnit-athon, the Belgian with a facial-hair-fetish, or the near-dead busy-body. I think Marple would wipe the floor with Poirot ...
  5. I know you're not likely gonna believe this, but I've actually never seen 'her' in person, and I live only some 30 km away. I'm more into statues of kings and that ****. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wait ... you guys have a mermaid ..?
  6. This isn't hurricane season in ... Enjoy and happy birthday, you lucky dawg! (Even though you won't read this until you get back...)
  7. Fifteen hours in Couldn't agree more. My biggest comnplaint is that my computer is having a tough time rendering the graphics! There is no reason any RPGamer can't role play in Obsidion; it is a wonderfull sandbox to play in and the skill system is well balanced, the enemies are tough, and the quests rich. I thoroughly recommend it: I have been struggling to even play a lot of games recently; they just haven't grabbed me: Oblivion, however, has scratched an itch that was irritating me. An RPG that is big and complex enough to play different ways, with different character classes and alignments.
  8. He's very violent, isn't he? Needs some relaxation and stress-relief ...
  9. And do you kill people who interrupt you?
  10. If you are interested in starting / GMing / participating in a PnP session with fellow forumites, may I suggest determining the: setting (e.g. Forgotten Realms, Call of Cthulhu, etc) rule system (GURPS, d20, etc) frequency and scope (weekly / monthly, for six / twelve months) favoured time of day and day of the week (Monday night 7pm GMT etc), and chat program to use (Trillian, Google, Messenger, AOL, etc) drop outs (leave them by the side of the road / running screaming from the dungeon, etc) and critical players any other suggestions.
  11. And she still breathes? We can make her an offer ...
  12. Well, not to crush your world-view, or anything, but they have a reputation for taking other ideas and perfecting them. And they have done it over and over again. Two recent examples: RTS? Warcraft III and The Frozen Throne. MMORPG? WoW: Online. And remember the landscape is littered with the carcasses of those who have tried and failed, both big and small. So, even though they are not your cup of tea, or mine for that matter, they are very good at what they do.
  13. How long do you think it will/would take to change the fuel infrastructure of the industrialized world? Looks like Hydrogen powered engines, with water vapour exhaust, are very close to the current cost-entry-point of petrol/diesel (about 2-5 times current pump prices iirc). The biggest impediment is populating the environment with filling stations ...
  14. Hee hee. I hadn't thought of that. No, the stuff we're using now, since the globalization era began, and local variation slowed down. The stuff that Mandarin speakers and Europeans are learning as a second language. For example, the English you refer to from the sixteenth century just shows how much a language can change in a few decades/centuries: think about all those words in the plays, how they would have been in common use and rhymed! Now the forces of globalization are working to keep the language homogeneous, and they fight against the local dialectal forces. For example, I can see that the English spoken by the Scots, South Africans and Kiwis, for instance, could very easily become mutually incomprehensible ... "
  15. Only if it contains rude words. )
  16. Running is probably my stress-management tool of choice: I fit the demographic perfectly. I like to run for hours through the country, during which time the rythmic breathing causes a medatative result. Also enjoy boxing; physically expressing any emotion expells it forcefully from the body: keeping emotions repressed will only cause long-term problems. Games can be fun, although the life-limited ones in the arcade have been known to have the reverse effect ... " Writing and arguing, in the socratic sense, are good for me, too. But physical expression is important, even if it's just screaming into a pillow.
  17. They could in Morrowind. I think Microsoft WANTS all those reports ... it's good for them to receive the errors ... in quanitity. ... Sort of like a cosmic karma rebalancing ...
  18. Cheaper than
  19. Has anyone played / can anyone recommend Solid Snake 2?
  20. Yeah, but if Darwin was right, we'll all be Chinese soon, anyway ...
