All people can be all things just not at same time. Is what it boils down to and I think you agree with what I'm saying- 139 replies

PoE-saga MMORPG? Please?
Fatback replied to senturion's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Here's the thing tho no matter how complex your tactics it comes down to a couple things someone who supports wether threw buffs, debuffs, heals, cc's. Someone who deals a lot of damage, melee, magic, ranged. Someone who absorbs damage, summons heavy armor guy. Now you can shuffle it up and say I'm going to have a heavy debuff and cc support so were would want some more dps with maybe a summon tank to eat up some of the big initial wave while the debuffs and cc's get into place. You still have all the 3 rolls covered. And now since everybody can't be everything you have 5 fighters you can't all be pure damage soaking because once you run out of defensive abilities you will be run down eventually so you have one guy go heavier into cc's. One dude goes with some aoe cleave damage and focuses on bleeds procs. One guy goes balls deep and duel wields 2 h great axe and war hammer. And the last one and the last 1 goes with banner buffs. You now have your trinity covered would play incredibly different. If you go and make an encounter saying no matter what build or classes you have your gonna be able to win your screwed in terms of design or build variety. But if you go. Classless or have a wide range of class abilities to mold classes into a play style and say when you make a dungeon saying your going to need a support to cc the adds of this boss your going to need a way to eat this enrage enrage ability.- 139 replies

PoE-saga MMORPG? Please?

Or you could have actual tactics in place, instead of just competing DPS/de-DPS(healing) rates. It's currently far more about which weapon you have and what level you are than it is about what choices you're actively making, in the moment. What are you talking about. Are you referencing gw2 or tactics in general.- 139 replies

Nix the trinity and encounter design goes into the floor you can have it be classless but you need to have healers/support, damage and tanks. It's the only way you can get good encounters otherwise it's a straight dps game and that's no fun. Just look at gw2 and there encounters. Straight zerker gear or gtfo when it comes to dungeons.- 139 replies

Op if you wanna sit down and just play a game with your busy life. Just sit down and play the game. The knowledge will eventually come. This isn't an mmo were your trying to get into the top teir raiding guild were 39 other people are counting on you too know your classes exact rotations and proper wep combos. I really don't see the point isn't part of the fun finding out that this mob will drop in 2 hits with this wep, or this mob will never pass a will check against this char but is immune to almost all of my melee weps. I'm sure you will be able to figure all this out for sure by hour 50.

This is what I'm saying there budget is for time spent working on this project so if dungeon designer a makes 100 dollars a week and his job with full dungeon content for project 1 would take 4 weeks but they cut half of the content he would have had to make he now works on project 1 for 2 weeks and gets moved to project 2 or laid off. They then take the 200 dollars for those 2 weeks and give it to a writer. And yes this is how business works. And before you all jump on the omg they don't make that little and it would take way longer than that. Small numbers are easier to grasp than big numbers. Esp the 2 : 4

But if the dungeon designers are working less hours they get paid less and if there making less money they can work there writers more hours. Ashtonw it's kind of simple.

PoE-saga MMORPG? Please?
Fatback replied to senturion's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Some of the best gaming moments I have ever had was racing an alliance guild to get a server first for finishing a raid dungeon or making a call to arms to kill said alliance guild when they were trying to open the gates to one of the newest dungeons. So the guild I was in could open it a few nights later. No mmos did what vanilla world of Warcraft did since not even world of Warcraft- 139 replies

Of coarse it's going to divert resources. Let's forget the money part. You have 5 programmers those 5 people work a realistic 55 hr work week that's 275 hrs of work a week. It takes you 2750hrs to make a single player game. That's 10 weeks to get the systems and such completed. Now let's say to finish a multiplayer component. For the game it's gonna take you 1000 hrs. That's now a total of 3750 hours equals 13.6 weeks. Time is the only resource that matters people.

I want an Obsidian hoodie...

Yea that hoodie is nice I want one -
I think bastion was described as an action rpg by the developers themselves not a platformer and braid looks nothing like bastion. And onto the main topic I would be almost positive that everything having to do with e3 and pillars would have been paid for by paradox, and even if they didn't really want to would have to because paradox is there publisher (see marketing) and not even obsidians choice.

I think this sub system design of enemy encounters is the definition overly designing a game. If you want encounters to change enemy types it should be done threw quest triggers as opposed to these "scouts" while mildly entertaining to think about are really just Boolean variables that open up an array of inventory and spells converted to Strings. And more than Likely buggy as hell.

@hiro kiting in this dissociation involves running away from someone to keep distance and attack with range. A bull fighter stands very still and holds out a flag the bull charges the flag because it is moving. When the bull hits the flag the bull fighter spins with the bull. No web spells to keep bull at range no stuns no sleep enchants. Standing very still while being charged is key. When the show is at an end on the last charge the fighter holds the flag a little lower so the bull drops his head exposing the base of neck allowing a clean straight line to heart the bull then charges and the fighter lunges sword into the base of neck threw the heart. Yes they do eat the bull when done. So in short I don't believe it's kiting due to the lack of range weapon and lack of movement impairing magical spells.

Paradox/PoE at E3?
Fatback replied to Quadrone's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
God I've been waiting for that my whole life. I hope it free to play with micro transactions and available on my iPhone. -
Nonek what if it's a noble recently given "eternal" life he could be asking you to lure people to his strong hold running other evil errands to keep his needs subdued until he asks you to sacrifice one of your non hero hall companions to him. For some legendary item. The good path could be you go and try to help the anima nicer cure him of his situation. Edit : iPhone auto correct not bothering to change it.
