  1. I suppose my preference of (And loved) Yoko Kanno's works puts me in the spot of being the only person who likes it The song gives me strong Ghost in the Shell - Origa's vibes afterall. edit. Bah screw it. After listening to the track a few times, I come to the decision that I LOVE THE SONG. Bite moi.
  2. Official Mirror's Edge theme, "Still Alive" by Lisa Miskovsky is out and leaked even somewhere in the internet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO5CD6Yv8a4 The song's not bad. I like both vocal and non-vocal version basing from what I heard and compared.
  3. Dankee for the interview! Though there isn't much new info regarding of the game, the effort is still greatly appreciated.
  4. No option to invert mouse control in any FPS or Third person action games. I simply cannot play nor able to fanthom how are you guys able to play games without using inverted mouse.
  5. If Obsidian could execute this very well and convincingly with good enemy A.I, I shall salute you all.
  6. Nope, Australia definitely isn't. But that's a silly way to explain why the game is banned in China based on totalitarism. Germany and Japan definitely are not a totalitarian nations.
  7. Because apparently to THQ, MMO RPG = $$$. Now if Obsidian is successful with the Aliens RPG, Obsidian may be able to prove its worth to THQ that WH40K can be made in the similar vein and be successful too. Cross your fingers boys. As for the game itself, it has a potential to be a good game if it manages to pull off the same action depth as Devil May Cry series or Ninja Gaiden, albeit at a slower pace. Heck, unlike the series mentioned, this one has good potential to have good coop gameplay like Gears of War.
  8. My impression with J.E's artistic design was that it seems to be heavily influenced by Disney's Mulan but with the latter still being portrayed accurately to Eastern design. The difference? Disney relied on years of research on Chinese culture before designing Mulan while J.E's artistic design is simply from a guy who had never been to China, nor gone through in depth study of its history. As a result, the design of J.E is simply an interpretation of China, but its not even Chinese.

    China did it

As China for the past few years up to the present had been promoting Confuciacism in its society, you may had hit the nail regarding of that the Chinese respects the procedure of rituals in formalities. Afterall, the teaching of Confucian empasises on ritual practice in expressing both words and gestures to their guests and as a receiver of gifts. So in a way, it could had been a cultural misunderstanding between the East and the West in this case.
  10. Brother in Arms: Hell's Highway is supposedly to be out next month. Woot.

    China did it

The Chinese are known for not forgetting old grudges easily, unfortunately. If you look back at China's last 100 years of history, you might gain a little insight and maybe understanding why the Chinese are relatively arrogant now as well as taking their PR chance to put down the British. The Opium war, the sacking of the Chinese palace (Which the British still keeps the artifacts in their own museum. Ironically, they survive from the destruction of Maoist revolution later on.), the colonising of Hong Kong ect. Not that I am happy with the way it goes being a Chinese myself. Fortunately, being an Indonesian Chinese who is raised in Singapore in my entire life helped me to look at things subjectively as a Chinese and hopefully, elude the trait of being racially 'arrogant'. Regardless, in this time and age, I am still proud as who I am, a Chinese.
  12. Its fine for those curious people who plays the game on their first time through. Now as for people like me who enjoys collecting flags or simply play the game's combat for fun, replaying the game is damn tedious since you can't skip the 5 minute dialogues after choosing the stage you want to replay over and over again with unlocked combat moves.
  13. He nails it. Assassin's Creed can be such an awesome game but ended up lacking and unsatisfying. The unskippable bad written dialogues in-game that can even last up to 5 minutes does push your patience and limits. Do have a zen book closeby and make sure your gun's locked, unloaded and nowhere within arm's reach. The plot itself is unnecessarily convulted. I would prefer the game to simply set in the Jerusaleum setting than going back and forth from past to present timeline. Anyway, meh. Good graphics and awesome scenery. I'll just give that.
  14. Oh yeah. Quest of Glory series has the most awesome joke encounters ever. Good old days man. Good old days.
  15. Devil May Cry 4 PC Version Goodness, Legendary Dark Knight mode is ridiculous.
  16. Gamespy iz da graphix whorez
  17. I swear Funroc is either Feargus in disguise or a Sega insider who happends to be a fanboi of Obsidian. How the heck he gets so much info even quicker than Matt!?
  18. Mike Thorton is looking so GAR Now if he is capable of performing the Fist of the North Star technique as well, we don't need Kendo.
  19. Those screenies finally stirrs the excitement in me. Can't wait to see the first video. Those screenies are looking more polished than the previous batch. Keep up the good work.
  20. We need Christian Bale too.
  21. Trailer for House of the Dead OVERKILL. Sega sure could make awesome advertisements if they set their minds into it. Just like the old days of Segata Sanshiro! Now hopefully they don't disappoint us for Alpha Protocol's trailer.

    Comics

I just bought Batman: The Killing Joke. That is one awesome stuff and you could see the story managed to provide some influence to the movie "Dark Knight". Call me pantsy or girly, but I do enjoy reading "Spiderman Loves Mary Jane" series, especially much more so when its being penciled in anime style with the story written by Sean McKeever.
  23. That's one hellaluva awesome looking op title.
  24. It just seems extraordinary that everyone's so keen to pick sides, and practically grab a rifle and head off to kill the 'bad guys'. But I'll be damned if I'm the only one who first started reading about the place on Saturday. Heheh, I just realised there is a region called Cacausus last weekend myself.
  25. Because the cost of paying the expenses of Obsidian's musician gnomes are based on per monthly basis unlike an independent musician, is likely to be based on per song or even the length of the song(?). During this single month alone, the Obsidian's music gnomes are capable of composing various music not solely only for SoZ but other projects as well. This improves efficiency and output though obviously, at the trade off of some quality if you compare to hiring an independent composer. Alexandor Brandon's composition skill is recognised to have his own distinct style in comparison to Morgan and Soule. If I am to compare with their compositional skill, obviously each of them has their own strengths and areas. Soule is good in creating clear and refined melodies in an ochestral arrangement, as shown from Morrowind's and Oblivion's composition as well as Dawn of War (Blood Raven's March). Mark Morgan on the other hand succeeds in creating musical ambience that does not overwhelm the 'scene' that disrupt's the player's attention, but rather fabricing the stage and music together into a scene. Fall Out's music is as such, as well as PS:T. With an exception of the Nameless One's theme and its variations, the rest of the music are simply ambiences with lack of distinct melodies (Grace and Annah's theme for instance). Finally for Obsidian's Alexander. I will admit I have yet to play much of the games that utilizes his music aside from Unreal Tournamen, Deus Ex and MotB. But simply by basing off his work on MotB, it is clear that he is a flexible composer capable of creating spot on ambiences for the scenes itself. This is only achieveable by the means of collaborating closely with the designers and playing the game first-hand to experience the scene first and create a music that fits it. To conclude the comparison, Obsidian has a better advantage in utilising in-house composers for their games since the Audio department is able to work closely together with SoZ's project team. Editing is quick as well as rewritting songs if there are sudden changes in the design of the project. Basing on MotB's soundtrack, it is commonly agreed by many that its music is the game's strong point which speaks much of Alex's composing abilities. That was Atari's 'fault' you must place on, not on Obsidian. I concur it would be nice if Atari gave Obsidian 50K more to hire an ochestra for its music. Unfortunately, Obsidian could only utilise whatever resources were given to them by Atari which in NWN2's case, was 50K less.
