Oh. This iz just rumourz from me. Take it with spoonful of salt. Ther emay be high possibility Obsidian may be in pre-production plans for NWN3. Seems on the job listing they are looking for Senior Network Programmer and Int/Sr Tool programmer Funny though that Obsidian is still looking for peeps to work on their Aliens RPG. I kind of thought the project is in full gears by now.

Very likely. NWN2's engine didn't age terribly well. Worse, the core architecture of the engine itself is badly outdated. If NWN3 is ever made, I think Obsidian only requires to rebuild the base architecture of the Aurora engine where it handles the logics into one that takes advantage of modern resource architecture like multi-core for instance. On the graphics department, I think Obs can easily simply add further bells and whistles with further optimization to take advantage the power of modern graphic cards. But if Obsidian is far more ambitious, we might see the Onyx engine replace the Electron instead if compatibility allows for it. Of course with the mistakes made from the development of NWN2, I strongly believe Obsidian will be far more pragmatic and realistic in working on NWN3. So I can expect there be far fewer classes, feats and races to start with in NWN3 in comparison to NWN2. Hopefully there will be a functional multiplayer component upon release this time around.

MoAR! DEMO INFO! SCREENSHOTS!

Ya know, it would be great if Obsidian could help MCA to overcome his shyness/fear/phobia from the Obsidian forum and especially the AP section to come in once in a while to say "Hi"/answer questions/assure us/share his stickman love with us. As a Lead Designer at least if not anything else. Yo Chris. Brudda. Ya there?

Could Bethesda outsource Fallout to Obsidian?

Could Bethesda outsource Fallout to Obsidian?
Zoma replied to Morgoth's topic in Computer and Console
The initial design of Cthulhu involved inventory and was made specifically for PC. Bethesda demanded change to simplify it and geared it towards console instead. Headfirst then had to radically remove much of the gameplay and change of the existing engine so that the XBox could run it. The game was completed long long before, but Bethesda delayed it because they wanted simultaneous release in both the states and Europe. I think the game was delayed for almost a year if memory serves right. The situation is almost the same as Ossian studios that involves delays, but due to different reasons. Hopefully Ossian managed to secure their next project while waiting for the Mysteries of Westgate to find its release. -

Could Bethesda outsource Fallout to Obsidian?
Zoma replied to Morgoth's topic in Computer and Console
Any idea who owns the Wasteland IP at the present? I rather prefer Obsidian pick up that IP and create their own apocalyptic game instead of creating a FallOut for Bethesda. Considering what Bethesda had done to Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth(Butchered the gameplay, delayed the release until Headgears went bankrupt due to no flow of revenue) and some Star Trek IPs, nu uh. No way. Grab Wasteland instead and create another competitive genre against Bethesda's Fallout 3. -
I doubt there will be a huge variety of moves. CQC may be part of the gameplay, but not a focus afterall. According to the interview, moves are unlocked by pumping points in CQC combat skill and if I'm not mistaken, it simply makes take down easier and faster.

Lara got boobs implant again? I swear her tracts didn't look that big in Anniversary.

Seems the actioney part of the game sounds identical to Stranglehold, with unlimited bullet spray and bullet time abilities and such minus the stylish acrobats. I certainly hope there's more than that though.

It's actually a prequel. But what you're saying is that the 3 in the name is what offends you the most? Had they named it Fallout Origins or Fallout 0 or whatever, it would have been cool with you? That's kind of stupid. Then its only fair that a direct comparison is made. No more between apples and oranges. Just Fallout. True that Bethesda could do whatever they wish with the license. That would also mean that I hope you understand that you are able to relate to some older fan's ire of what Bethesda had done to Fallout that made "Fallout" to some of the old fans. Sure its just their (or my own) opinion, but I would simply prefer Bethesda just reboot the franchise than using it as a direct sequel of a game they are unable or do not want to replicate the spirit of it. To me at least, the spirit of Fallout was the profound choice and consequences available in the game that will alter the way how the main quest is played out or even end it abruptly. Its just like the Batman movies.

Weapons, Armor, and Concealability

Good interview, but it still didn't add any notable new infos compared to the previous ones in terms of gameplay. They did add minor details regarding of weapons and upgradable melees. However, the actual action gameplay content remains in question: -How does standard combat plays out? Since using the reference of Gears of War, I assume the base of the combat gameplay plays similar to it using a cover system and health regeneration. -Will there be an inventory system to manage despite the unlimited ammo system and static equipment(You cannot pick up enemy's weapons last we were informed) the game uses? If we take the ammo and weapon system into consideration as well as the possibility of utilizing health regen system, the inventory system seems to be obselete. -How sophisticated are the enemy A.Is in combat to provide the challege for players who prefer to play as a Rambo? Are they capable of flanking the player, flushing the player out of his cover mode with grenades? Even better, will they be able to use smoke grenades or flashbangs to gain advantages in flanking? The player having the edge in combat with abilities like chain shots and fire storm(Unlimited SMG bulets), how is Obsidian planning to provide the enemies a challenge in combat aside from outnumbering the player? Are the enemies finite per level similar to Splinter Cell but deadly in every encounters as each shots are lethal as well as the player often faces overwhelming odds? Or plays out like Metal Gear series where the enemies constantly respawn during the alert mode which the situation can either be avoided(Kill the guards before they sign the alarm) or evaded(Hide until its over)? -How is stealth played out? The factors of hiding in darkness, out of sight as well as the sounds of movement are definitely in play. Most importantly, are we able to relocate the bodies of disposed enemies to avoid others from stumbling over it? Last I heard Obsidian is still considering this particular factor which boggles my mind since I thought the answer is certain for enhancing stealth gameplay.

Considering the combination of contents in terms of feats, classes and races up to NX2 is alot, I think the third expansion should focus less on adding such contents but rather focus on adding new gameplay contents similar to the overland man that the community could use it with ease on their own modules or PWCs. So an idea I mentioned in the Zehir thread was fulfilling the horse gameplay content in the game that NWN2 was initially intended for. This itself add a new dynamics in gameplay as well as enhancing the gameplay system by the community via mods. Otherwise I do not mind if the third expansion takes the opportunity to enhance 'immersive' aesthetical contents in the game like The Witcher did such as providing new armor/weapon designs in the game, new or revised 'action' animations in social or combat mode ect. Though the community would prefer such contents to be released for free instead as the Witcher had done it.

What's your opinion on Alpha Protocol?
Zoma replied to pcrk2's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I'm afraid there's still too little info. on the game itself other than the general idea of the theme and gameplay to make judgement yet. Sure the ideas and concepts sounds cool so far, but its the execution of it which is very important though. That's when I can finally provide an opinion of it. -
Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir Discussion
Zoma replied to CoM_Solaufein's topic in Computer and Console
So! I guess its the ripe time to make a wishlist for NXP3 now With both expansions succeeding in enhancing the gameply through addition of classes and feats as well as the overland system, I wonder if the time is finally ripe to dedicate the third expansion in integrate horse gameplay? -
You're playing the better game... Yes and no. They're two completely different games, like comparing Warcraft 2 to World of Warcraft. It'll make me feel so much better if Bethesda simply cast the game as "World of Fallout" instead of "Fallout 3". By doing that they will simply draw the line that the game they make is different than the previous Fallouts instead of blatantly stamping a "3" over it. Otherwise the comparison to the previous 2 games makes sense since it is a direct sequel. Heck, Black Isle did the right thing for christening the tactical Fallout game as "Fallout Tactics" rather than Fallout 3 just to draw the line that it is different.
-
Dankee. That sucks to hear though. I'm personally hoping with my fingers crossed that the game will be released in retail. Presently it seems to be only available via download online, a purchase system that I haven't yet place my faith on due to location difference.
