  1. Trudging along Far Cry 2. I happended to have one of my buddy gone missing in the middle of one mission. Is it possible to save him/her or is she considered dead?
  2. I believe Black Isle was formed simply to create a strong sense of self-identity or brand within Interplay in the area of RPG. So any RPG games being published or produced by Interplay, Black Isle will be in charge of it. Its the same as Kojima Productions within Konami.
  3. Ninjaz funroc strikez again
  4. Thanks Starwars. Your answers is helping alot here. Guess I'll give it a miss for now until I can get over with my fatuation of the older Fallout series.
  5. I hope the dreadful out of place conversation mini game from Oblivion is gone? Far far away gone? No more bribing people to make them happy after pissing them off? What is with this news I read that some weeks ago that killing peeps in town and becoming an outlaw in the said town will be forgotten once you stay away from the town for a day and your deeds will be forgotten by the people? How are Choice & Consequencess implemented in the game? God, I'm still stuck in the 90s gaming age. I miss the golden age. Being the sequel of one of my first favourite western RPG games during the time when I am washed by JRPGs, this is a very sensitive issue for me personally.
  6. Sounds like a modded Oblivion combat with added VATs system. What about skill lists? Simplified like all other Bethesda games ever since Daggerfall?
  7. I heard the game contains: -No swear words. -No drug use. -No mature content. -Lack of dark humour or the execution of it compared to the first 2 series. -Gameplay is simply Oblivion with guns. Man. This can't be Fallout. Its not even close as spiritual successor. Sigh. Dammit Obsidian, just spill new news of Alpha Protocol and Aliens RPG already. Because this one is making me feel super depressed.

    We did WHAT!?

There was an interesting theory from an article I read mentioning a curious reasoning for the US invasion of Iraq. Iraq wanted to sell its oil using Euro dollars instead of the standard US currency which is the default denomination. Being one the countries that has the largest oil reserve in the world, it will no doubt affect the US currency rate to some degree: A situation that US wanted to avoid at all cost.
  9. Don't forget Petroglyph. The core of the studio is made up of many former Westwood developers who left Westwood when EA took over it.
  10. The mouse control is sluggish and it has little to do with the sensitivity but rather, the timing it takes for the mouse pointer from A to B. You can feel it that it is 0.2 to 0.4 seconds lag for the mouse to move around and is much more apparent in the game's menu. It is similar to Oblivion's menu where you can feel the mouse lag except this occurs in the FPS gameplay as well which contributes much frustration. Apparently, this sluggish mouse problem for Far Cry 2 is quite well-known in every Far Cry 2 forum you encounter.
  11. Oh man. The travelling system and numerous hostile checkpoints are driving me nuts and tired from the tediousness. Come on man. Why can't Far Cry implement a proper faction system? Such great game with huge potential wasted to bad/simplified design decisions.
  12. Notable scary moment in the game: -First appearance of the twitcher. Holy ****e. Notable disturbing moment in the game: -When the octopus head thing kills your character. What it does with it later, it looks bloody unnerving.
  13. As Bokishi mentioned, the concept of the player playing as an engineer in the survival space horror is cool by itself. Aside from the said mission objectives that involves an engineer to fix it, all of the weapons with the exception of one the protagonist uses happends to be engineering or mining tools instead of conventional military weapons. Ironically, it is the very said tools that gave the player the needed weapons to survive against unconventional enemies that cannot be killed easily by standard weapons. They can only be killed via dismemberment, which the tool cutting mining equipments easily does the work. As for the story, there is an animated movie coming out that serves the game's prequel. http://www.deadspacethemovie.com/ Or the comics online http://deadspace.ea.com/ Overall, at the risk of spoling the story:
  14. Ugh. What's with the sluggish mouse control for this game? It makes it so difficult to aim efficiently at moving enemies.
  15. They're prepping to take over Google, and then Microsoft, and then your souls.
  16. O-M-G. Rob King is one of the music composers for SOZ! For its main theme to boot! The music will no doubt be fantastic. Heroes of Might and Magic 4's soundtrack remains a strong favourite of mine afterall all these years, especially the opening of the Grassland theme. That just blew me away.
  17. thread bumped. This game needs more love and attention. Heck, even the codexers seems to love it.
  18. Finished Dead Space and I immediately hopped onto the demo of King's Bounty: The Legend. O-M-G. I am reminded again that a game doesn't need to have fancy bloom or super shader card to make a game look so beautiful and immersive. The RPG turn-base tactical gameplay is solid, though it can be quite unforgiving for first timers. For slow learners, in the long run may be overwhelming since the key in progressing the game depends on decisive victories considering the limited resources available. The story plot so far is typical and simple. But the characters in the game makes up for it with their personality and humour to keep the experience engaged and entertaining. I heard your character could get a wife in the game for stats bonus, children even too! Gonna get the full game once I get my paycheck.
  19. I'm playing Dead Space on Impossible mode now which was unlocked after completing the game. This time the difficulty is more ideal since the enemies are capable of taking more damage as well as inflicting on me. Several times I am forced to use static ability on the necros and probably will do so from now on. I can't help but wonder if this 'impossible' difficulty ought to be the normal mode in the first place at all since the 'normal' and 'hard' difficulty is obviously too easy. There's alot of backtracking in the game as well.
  20. Dead Space. This game is nothing like System Shock 2 despite the inventory and weapon upgrade management. Rather the gameplay is exactly the same as Resident Evil 4 with space as its setting. The level design is mostly bland and of same color. Infirmary ward using the same texture as the Engine room? Come on man. System Shock 2 managed to make the respective sectors of the ship look distinctive. Despite that, it is rather fun to play with the theme of blasting off enemy's limbs to kill. However the overwhelming amount of ammo available makes the game too easy.
  21. With the exception of sniper rifles, nope. No iron sight at all. It simply zooms in towards the invisible cross hair. And you know what? Gearbox said in their forum that its a FEATURE! Geez. Sigh. Their reasoning does little persuasion in convincing me that its a flawed design.
  22. Points: -No more base building? -One squad = 3 men team? 6 to 5 squads at most in play? -Squad leaders don't die. Revived with the means of 'rez' by another surviving SL -Squad customization seems to be only restricted to the squad leader(?) If the game is going to be designed like this, I really much prefer the scale to be as large and huge like World in Conflict or Ground Control maps instead of Company of Heroes. The game seems to be designed looking simple and likely to be linear in strategy for the Single player game. Total impression: Seems to be far too simple game for one that revolves around squad gameplay. I want to be proven wrong for this. Awaiting for further info for how multiplayer games match is going to be played.
  23. That's great to hear since watching the trailers, for the first time it gave me a sense of nauseousness for an FPS games which never happened to me before. Hopefully the reticule will fix it.
