  1. The "out of your mind" bit was uncalled for, but I can sort of understand it as a gut reaction. There is no "love" in PS:T. But if you plan on finishing it some day, I'll not spoil it for you by revealing the truth behind "relationships".
  2. You have to find the Amulet of Yendor and bring it back to the surface
  3. Managed to find 30 minutes last night to play a bit more DA2. Finished what I think is "chapter 1" and returned above ground to life in a mansion. Bethany ended up as a circle mage and I would say it's not only Isabella that has had a few upgrades, the Qunari also seems to have a few spiky bits and steroids added. The Artishok was particularly well done (if his job was to appear imposing). Sort of makes a mockery of good old Sten in DA:O, although it makes more sense of his dialogue and background if you try to imagine him looking like the DA2 Qunari.
  4. I've had NWN2 for nearly two years and I still haven't completed Act 1. I just played it a bit because of this thread and my progression is just before the Old Owl Well part. I hope it "gets good" at this point because I don't think I've ever played a more uninspiring game before. This crap is an embarrassment to gaming. I'd never let anyone catch me playing it because they'd probably think bad things. I don't know if anybody around here is familiar with an illustrator named Michael Whelan (done a lot of fantasy and sci-fi illustration) but he once put it rather well on the horror stuff, that his test was to see if people chuckled when they saw it (paraphrased, don't remember the exact quote) then he had failed to illustrate horror (he did some Cthulhu stuff among other things). I think it safe to say that the "villain" of NWN2 failed that particular test very badly. Very hard not to giggle when you encounter him. A true face palm experience.
  5. In video games, romance = sex scenes/fade to black and implied sex Then people need to get "real". The two things have nothing to do with each other. You can love somebody yet never have sex with them just as you can have sex with a score people without caring about any of them >_ I'm just looking for people in my games that intrigues me somehow. Can they make me care about their fate, so much the better, but not if it's rammed down my throat that I have to god damn care about peasant girl 'A' or else (thinly veiled NWN2 reference)...
  6. I think being part of the setting/lore would be great, but not sure if I would aim for quest related material. Put an Order building/fortress/monastery/mansion somewhere and call it a day for starters. If they need plot or story hooks some day, they can always return to it and expand on the idea.
  7. I think Bobby Null is going to spend many long nights doing overtime to make up for all those dungeon levels
  8. Hmm, here's a zinger then: what would happen if the PC has a relationship with one of the companions, then a couple of levels later it is discovered the companion (or the PC) is pregnant? Deny everything and move to a new continent? Edit: On a more serious note, it is a situation that *could* be put to good use by a good writer. How it plays out and if you actually end up having to support somebody is not a given. Quite so. Of course, it does rather significantly fork the main plot. The writers would either have to arrange an unfortunate short-term resolution, or else insert a lengthy time break while the couple takes care of the child. it *could* give you an interesting antagonist in PE II. Preferably it would be optional though, as you could just have kept your pants on, then you wouldn't have to leave a companion somewhere during the final part of the game
  9. But what *is* romance? I don't like "Emos", particularly not in my video games, but I'm fascinated in a morbid way by strong human emotions. For me, 'love' is just one such thing that a writer has in his/her arsenal to convey strong emotions. Similar to hate, jealousy, obsession, philosophical zeal, rage, contempt, prejudice etc. If it helps to create viable characters and interactions, tension and relief, punishment and reward, I'm all for it. Just as long as it doen't become monotonous and all about a single emotion. Hmm, here's a zinger then: what would happen if the PC has a relationship with one of the companions, then a couple of levels later it is discovered the companion (or the PC) is pregnant? Didn't that happen to Aerie in BG2 at some point? I never romanced her, so I don't know the details. Yes, and it was kind of completely terrible. Wasn't that in the ToB expansion? Only completed that one twice. Now I'm curious as to how that bit actually plays out
  10. Relax guys, time to sheath the chainsaws... For me it depends on how much of it is "awesome", how much is "filler", how is the games "replayability" and so forth. I love FO:NV, but somewhere close towards the ending I started suffering "fatigue". Luckily I invested in the DLC's and while I generally don't like the idea of DLC's they were of such a scope the they felt more than just a tacked on map and a few lines of dialogue. Being thematically different from the main game, it gave me a break and the desire to continue the game. So yes, there is such a thing as too much, if it starts feeling rather samey. I play strategy games to scratch that itch.
  11. Still waiting for Obsidian to offer up for sale those coffee mugs I suggested a number of years ago Barring that, I really need a new mouse mat.
  12. Then why are you still "Global moderator" instead of an order member. Update that name! Or combine it . "Globally operating moderator of the Obsidian Order" You know, I was even amongst the winners of one of those smiley competitions of yore once? I never got a custom title of my own choice I'll just have to settle for my "Orderite" name (Grinning Skull of the Order) when amongst fellow order members. Sort of like a Freemason thing.
  13. If I understood it correctly, it's more a Stamina = Tactical consideration, Health = Strategic consideration. Run out of stamina and you collapse, out of the fight for a while. Recovers quickly. Health is the more permanent damage that doesn't just disappear between combats. Sounds very similar to Jagged Alliance 2 (which is not a bad thing).

  15. Good idea or not, it made for interesting reading and lots of drama I know people these days seems have some knee jerk reactions when the word "romance" pops up, associating it with "Bioware Type Romance" (seems to have become a meme on it's own), romance litterature kind of love (which I personally find revolting, being somewhat of a cynic) or the kind of teenage infatuation you would find in movies aimed at the saturday noon TV crowd. So far, I've liked what Avellone & Co. have done, but that doesn't mean I'm not curious to see what they can do when exploring higher highs and deeper depths of human(oid) depravity. Key issue for me is it has to feel "natural" (or unnatural) as appropriate for the characters involved. If my companion is a crazed follower of the blood good, screaming "Blood for the Blood God" all the time, I would find it strange if he didn't express his "love" for his deity by butchering everything in his path. An abusive bastard I would expect to act abusively and a "ladies man" I would expect to be a flirt. Extrapolate the list of examples and add to it, hopefully seeing where I'm going
  16. Just a note that this thread has been pruned somewhat. Apologies to those whose posts fell by the wayside as collateral damage.
  17. Well, we agreed to try to keep one thread open, but I don't see anything wrong in touching other areas related to human nature and interaction, as long as it happens in a civil and non-confrontational way.
  18. Thread pruned a bit. Time to write some PM's and take off the gloves a bit it seems...
  19. That's how I joined the order Well, not selecting an old card, but accidentally picked one with a transaction limit. Never found a way to tell Amazon to change payment method for the pledge without changing the amount.
  20. Poisoning the druid grove was fun I never did the xp math, just played it for the sake of variety, siding with Bodhi, leading Anomen down the path of damnation etc.
  21. We haven't received any official word either way, so sorry, your guess is as good as mine.
  22. Me! I want to ride a triceratops into battle while wearing nothing but a loincloth, screaming at the top of my lungs, alternating between flinging fireballs at my enemies and using the beast's massive head plate as a shield! Too much to ask? Mega-flora could be cool... but only if there's a hot Poison Ivy lookalike, too... I think rideable mounts have already been rules out? Hmm, do dryads count as "flora"?
  23. Who cares about creatures. I want carnivorous mega-flora Just imaginge trudging through glorious swamps, fending off tentacles from unknown submerged entities, trying to drag the unskilled adventurer to an ignominous death, just to rush towards a small patch of land to discover that the slime and muck covered "dead" foliage is humongous venus fly trap leaves. The only way up is grabbing the "vines" hanging down the rotting, dead trees, to discover that they are choke vines that will entangle you like sundew, holding you paralyzed for days while slowly digesting your innards. Who needs dinosaurs???
  24. I thought you were talking about signatures on the CE box
