  1. I could care less if he's a "genuinely nice guy". We want a solid product. Not another empty promise of "This Product is the next Baldur's Gate" which we've been hearing and certainly not seeing from developers, Ziets included, for years now. You seem to have an axe to grind and it seems to be the only reason you created an account. Why don't you tell what your issue is instead of vague hints and insinuations?
  2. Well, if you just hie your arse over here to Southern California, I'll buy you a damned mousepad *and* a beer. Beer??? I actually almost did that a year and a half ago but then I moved interstate and was broke for a while. I still haven't given up the idea although it wont be until mid next year
  3. Victoria Kruger. Hasn't done much else though other than Trine, Trine 2 and DA2. A shame really. She has a "pleasant" voice and I would probably rather listen to her than Jennifer Hale throughout yet another video game (and I played both Trine and Trine 2 extensively)
  4. I need a new mouse pad really badly. I wonder how long it will take before we get those... probably early 2014
  5. Not really, but I already got the Mass Effect games and DLC's I need for now (and I don't own any consoles)
  6. From the existing Classes you would like to see thread (because I'm lazy) At the time nothing was known about classes yet. I would have preferred classless.
  7. Is this where we get to confess having had GoG's version of Arcanum for a geological time period yet never got around to play it? I hope you don't mind a lurker watching from the wayside.
  8. If I understood the update correctly, rather than go out of their way to encrypt data and make it hard to access and modify, they'll put effort into externalizing data structures and where possible allow for easy changes by third parties.
  9. Very very buggy. Looking forward to the updated version... may take a while. I feel like peanuts just supporting 2 games, PE and Expedition. :/ Kickstarter is a bit like communism. Each according to his ability (insert hammer and sickle symbol) There are games I would have liked to support, but in the end I decided to prioritize an nothing prevents me (I hope) from supporting the other games by buying them through whatever distribution channels they become available through later. Shadowrun and the new Carmageddon games are such games. Edit: Ability, not means. I suck at communism
  10. As has been mentioned a few times in the past, the stretch goals aren't really "budgets". Hypothetically speaking, maybe adding a two classes that shares similar traits costs $50k. Adding a senior designer developer may cost $125k (completely made up numbers, no idea what the cost of living in Orange County is). By adding the classes first and the developer last, they get the grand total they need for both stretch goals, but if they fail to hit the larger target, they will still have the small target covered and then some. Just speculation on my part. I fully expect (and cross fingers for) mr. Ziets being on board
  11. DA2... observations so far. The city is very impressive in some ways, obviously a lot of work went into modelling it. On the other hand, it's rather obvious the "day city" and "night city" are not the same city at two different times of the day/night cycle. Worst offender is containers that mysteriously appear and reappear. Just a thought, it would have been better to not have those containers with mostly useless loot, it would have helped maintain the illusion. Also, for all the work that went into the city map, it's a bit sad to see it so "empty". The buildings are nice, but it's missing a lot of little details. Compared to Omega in ME2 it feels devoid of the little things that makes me go around and investigate every nook and cranny. Having street urchins, stray dogs, rubbish heaps etc. might also have helped make the place feel like a place where people actually lived. I sort of hope they reuse the city map and the assets already created for that in a future game though, as the city itself is well made. I got a full roster of companions now from the emo wizard complaining about having lost some cat familiar to the skinny elf with a mood that is as bad as his paint job. Is it just my imagination or has Isabella been "embellished" a bit since DA:O??? Anyway, I like her free spirited personality and I think we are going to get along just well (I also remembered where I had heard her voice, playing Zoya in 'Trine' which was released a few years before) Varric is a must have in the party too and the "wizard slot" will probably be shared between Merrill and Bethany for now. Off to raise some money for that underground expedition... Apart from my repetitive gripe about combat and above mentioned "lifeless city feel" I'm having fun. Story is nice and characters are interesting.
  12. A very unusual game. Bought it a long time ago on Gamersgate (on sale for £2.49 at the moment). Also took me a long time to get into.
  13. Coffee mugs dammit... we want to buy coffee mugs! Oh, and A2 posters with concept art for their various games.
  14. The thing is, why does it sound "right" just because it is in a foreign language? The names are equally silly in english as they are in any other language. But it seems only when we translate the names that the ridiculousness hits us. In the above example, it sounds silly because the words are translated but not the meaning. Hard to explain, but it means dirty as in not clean. Not as somebody who fights dirty (as in not by the book). Just a simple example to illustrate the dangers of translations, well meant or not. But in German you can say "schmutzig" for unfair. There is also the expression "schmutzige Tricks" for "playing unfair". Mieser trick, fauler trick, be****ener trick (improvised language filter)... takes more than just a working knowledge of German to pick out the best for each context.

  16. Schmutziger Harry?... Klingt irgendwie nicht richtig
  17. I only remember him from BG2 and IWD. There was an "Enoll Eva" (Avellone) reference in PS:T... those are the ones I remember. Hmmm, interesting. I need to replay PST, then, because I don't think I ever found that. I think it was a text somewhere, not actually a person. Just a reference to the name spelled backwards. Google is my friend. It's part of your interactions with Nordom. From sorcerers place: "If your intelligence is greater than 16 and you are a mage, then you can order him to increase his introspection routines for 36.000 XP, and +2 INT for Nordom, several pieces of Junk, and the Twisted Gear of Enoll Eva which teaches the spell Enoll Eva's Duplication." Edit: So not actually a person you encounter, just part of the "lore"

  19. Heh, that one's *mine!*... I like the idea. Got the drunk in your party, forget about stocking up on wine. Got the archer in your party, he'll sulk, complain and eventually leave if you give somebody else a better bow than his. The fashionista could lose combat skill and morale (depressed?) if not dressed in the latest regional fashion. Just silly examples, but the idea isn't bad. I mentioned "family heirlooms" a few weeks back in another thread. Would be nice if companions was something that was *theirs*. They don't need to have it equipped (so you can offer them better stuff), but they'll part with it over their permanently dead bodies.
  20. Damn, I missed this thread. Would have added the following: Will Feargus make a cameo in this game. Or alternatively, "Brother Ferg" and "Brother Gus". Sort of miss the constant worrying On a more serious note, overpowered mages are boring. Will there be "critical failure" chances when using magic excessively? WH40k has a nice "Perils of the Warp" mechanism that means playing around with the supernatural comes with a risk. Greater risk, greater benefits (besides, wild mage was fun to play in bg2). Maybe next time.
  21. If I remember correctly, there was an issue with the incremental update of the base game, but the last time I installed it (two years ago) I installed base game, xp1, xp2 and then ran the auto updater.
  22. Not really a new discovery, more an anniversary of an invention. Happy Birthday LED The old guy turns 50 this month.
  23. Sadly, it looks like most information at the moment is for "invitee's" only
