The thing is, why does it sound "right" just because it is in a foreign language? The names are equally silly in english as they are in any other language. But it seems only when we translate the names that the ridiculousness hits us. In the above example, it sounds silly because the words are translated but not the meaning. Hard to explain, but it means dirty as in not clean. Not as somebody who fights dirty (as in not by the book). Just a simple example to illustrate the dangers of translations, well meant or not. But in German you can say "schmutzig" for unfair. There is also the expression "schmutzige Tricks" for "playing unfair". Mieser trick, fauler trick, be****ener trick (improvised language filter)... takes more than just a working knowledge of German to pick out the best for each context.

I only remember him from BG2 and IWD. There was an "Enoll Eva" (Avellone) reference in PS:T... those are the ones I remember. Hmmm, interesting. I need to replay PST, then, because I don't think I ever found that. I think it was a text somewhere, not actually a person. Just a reference to the name spelled backwards. Google is my friend. It's part of your interactions with Nordom. From sorcerers place: "If your intelligence is greater than 16 and you are a mage, then you can order him to increase his introspection routines for 36.000 XP, and +2 INT for Nordom, several pieces of Junk, and the Twisted Gear of Enoll Eva which teaches the spell Enoll Eva's Duplication." Edit: So not actually a person you encounter, just part of the "lore"

Heh, that one's *mine!*... I like the idea. Got the drunk in your party, forget about stocking up on wine. Got the archer in your party, he'll sulk, complain and eventually leave if you give somebody else a better bow than his. The fashionista could lose combat skill and morale (depressed?) if not dressed in the latest regional fashion. Just silly examples, but the idea isn't bad. I mentioned "family heirlooms" a few weeks back in another thread. Would be nice if companions was something that was *theirs*. They don't need to have it equipped (so you can offer them better stuff), but they'll part with it over their permanently dead bodies.

Damn, I missed this thread. Would have added the following: Will Feargus make a cameo in this game. Or alternatively, "Brother Ferg" and "Brother Gus". Sort of miss the constant worrying On a more serious note, overpowered mages are boring. Will there be "critical failure" chances when using magic excessively? WH40k has a nice "Perils of the Warp" mechanism that means playing around with the supernatural comes with a risk. Greater risk, greater benefits (besides, wild mage was fun to play in bg2). Maybe next time.

Sadly, it looks like most information at the moment is for "invitee's" only -
I'm playing a dual wielding rogue. I almost always prefer to play rogues in my games.

Why am I thinking about buxom dwarven maids in dirndls serving humongous beer steins for dwarwen patrons in lederhosen now? Edit: I suppose the obvious answer is, it's Oktober now.

Intelligence-Gathering
Gorth replied to Monte Carlo's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Eat smart, eat brains! Hmm, I remember playing a rogue like (Angband?) 20 years ago that did that. Killing a monster would show you it's name. As you killed more and more of them, you would learn more, like average HP, strengths, weaknesses etc. Was quite fun and a feature I've missed in modern games like the IE games. -
No problem, I could edit your previous post and add spoiler tags so I can't see the text... oh wait.

Isabella... as in the duellist in DA:O?

Hey, I'm so open minded that friends sometimes makes jokes about being "too drafty in the attic" First impressions. I still don't like the combat (which was what turned me off in the demo originally). The setting I'm a bit indifferent to and the change in art direction doesn't bother me. Some of the companions are hilarious, I think I'm going to like Varric (sp?) and I like the occasional understated humour in the story. Only got the first 3 recruited yet though, I suspect Merrill (which I remember from the Dalish origin in DA:O, where she was fussing over a mirror that Duncan destroyed) has moved to the city, so I can probably also get her in my party now. Not sure if I want to swap out my sister for her though.

Question about the kickstarter
Gorth replied to BR4ZIL's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Moved to Project Eternity section. From the Known Information Thread "Confirmed by Kickstarter update #4, a DRM-free version is being offered in conjunction with GOG. At the end of the Kickstarter campaign, you will be able to choose between a GOG or Steam key." Mentioned elsewhere, you will be contacted through the email you used for Paypal/Kickstarter to answer a "survey" type thing about where to send stuff etc. -
Hmm, I remember those aliens, but then I play with the wild wasteland trait (or whatever that one is called)
