  1. You'll probably get as many answers as there are people around answering them (i.e. it's an entirely subjective thing) I hated the switch of focus towards "actiony" combat (which is pretty poor as far as action combat goes, so a wasted effort), the QTE's (giving it that rather console like look and feel), the feeling of tiny cramped areas (which may be a real concern or not, at least they give the impression of being tiny), the piss poor responsiveness of Geralt to your controls (IMO), the very contrived gimmick in the beginning where you are forced to tag along, despite there being no believable reason to do so (even worse than having to drag peasant girl everywhere in NWN2), they still waste resources on mini games, music took a drop in quality etc. If I could be bothered to play the game a bit more, I could probably add to me list of grievances. The most serious offense is however, the game simply doesn't feel like fun to play.
  2. Not everything. If it has 8 legs, it's 50/50. If it has no legs, stay away from it. For the rest, it's trial an error Edit to add: If it has tentacles, stay away from it too. Box Jellyfish are nasty.
  3. I like the control scheme
  4. I admire your persistence. I grew bored of Witcher 2 long before getting stuck in quick time events. Will probably have to add it to the collection of "don't bother to finish" games.
  5. I love my SteelSeries Sensei. No LogiTech or Razer for me if I can avoid it (had a Microsoft mouse for almost a decade before I got this one). I think it was Logitech's crappy keyboards (the wireless ones) that taught me the value of buying quality peripherals.
  6. Behold, the Hand of Gorth We have this little Australian Water Dragon showing up at work regularly at lunch time. We've tried feeding it turkey, chicken, ham, lots of stuff, but apparently nothing beats cheese They love cheese so much that they overcome their shyness and eat out of your hand. Did a still from a video I made featuring the lizard and yours truly (and some cheese) and cropped it.
  7. I think my current MB comes with a handful of drivers anyway, for stuff that Gigabyte has added to the Intel chipset. Not sure if a prepacked solution would have fewer if you were to reinstall the operating system on it. I copy all my most recent drivers to a folder on my HDD anyway, so I don't have to go searching for them. Not that i reinstall that often these days (last time was the first in two years). Only thing I can remember from top of my head to pay attention to when building yourself (my preferred option) is the chipset. Make sure the CPU (socket type) and RAM (tri- or quad channel) works with it. Just about everything else is interchangeable if bought within the last 5 years.
  8. I wouldn't call it 'buggy as hell'... I'm almost through the game and only noticeable bug during the entire game was a guy with jet packs flying up and getting stuck inside the structure of a UFO. It's fun while it lasts, which isn't very long. Probably just as well, as the simplified game mechanics would lead to boredom if it dragged out. Edit: Not sure what qualifies as 'cheap' elsewhere in the world, but Gamersgate currently has it for $35 (which is dirt cheap for Aussies). You haven't been getting bugs such as camera messing up and not targeting the enemy, enemies getting stuck in places you can't get to, crashes, the game getting stuck and not being able to progress, many graphical bugs, or gameplay related bugs? Have you been playing multiplayer? A good portion of the bugs people are complaining about are in multiplayer. I don't play games in multiplayer, so that may be part of the reason .The bugs you mention don't sound familiar / not something I recognise. Currently almost cleared the first part of the templeship (sans the ethereals in the bow which ganged up on me and wiped my squad in my first attempt)
  9. A new scientific un-discovery. Aka, where did it go??? The island that disappeared Morale of the story? Islands have become an endangered species? Better visit them before they are gone
  10. Hmm, today's shopping: Amnesia: The Dark Descent 4.99 USD Age of Empires III: Complete Collection 9.99 USD Awesomenauts with Soundtrack 4.07 USD Of Orcs and Men Pre-Order 19.99 USD I'm nothing if not inconsistent in my taste
  11. Yes. Now get back to working on DA3 Looking at my own post count is kind of scary. Considering that most of them are posted while at work
  12. I'm not convinced. Time may or may not be a result of the 'laws of physics' that came into being as part of this "bubble" that we call the universe. Time may only exist until the bubble bursts. Different rules may or may not have applied before the universe came into existence. That's what some of the scientists at Cern are all giddy about trying to figure out by recreating the conditions of the beginning of the universe.
  13. 3712 posts says otherwise
  14. Moved to the tech section, since the question seems to be about platforms.
  15. Well, I bought Dishonored for $80, but full price games are normally around $100 down here. No, it isn't the government, in fact they have been discussing legislative initiatives to crack down on the price fixing taking place (due to lack of competition between the few distributors operating down here). There are not extra taxes on games, so there is no "natural" explanation for why the same digitally distributed game from the same online store adds 50%-100% when you enter your region code

  17. Umm, yes. That makes comparisons a bit tricky It's a very simple squad based combat game with some nice cinematics and story, but it's very short and very simple in nature (unlike the original which had bugger all when it came to presentation, but relied a lot on game mechanics to allow you to write your own story).
  18. That was my feeling as well (although I did take the chance and paid $50 for it on gamersgate). In hindsight, I would probably have recommended myself to wait until it hits the bargain bin. It really, really depends on what you are looking for in an xcom game.
  19. I don't really think, that there are that many more than those listed. Sort of scary that I'm old enough to remember them being 'news' rather than 'old history'
  20. I don't know much about it other than it sucks to be a turkey Happy Thanksgiving over there.
  21. The sole exception, if you exclude ETA, 17N, IRA etc... (P)IRA was the only one to have religious connotations, loyalists as well, I'll give you that. ...and yet there was a significant nationalist component to it (The Irish conflict) as well, possibly way overshadowing any religious significance (the occupied versus the occupier). Italys Brigate Rosse, Baader-Meinhof/RAF... enough murders and killings to make upstarts envious of the infamy and notoriety of the homegrown terrorists in Europe.
  22. For me it was the first bullet point. I love exploration. In real life and in video games. The "real" me has already expended all 9 cat lives and is in the red It started out with the old rogue likes on X11/Unix machines and went downhill from there. First exploring dungeons and later exploring games that had larger maps. Not just limited to rpgs. I'm a great fan of the original Tomb Raider games and cringe at the thought of what they have turned into. I loved the IE games and Fallout when they appeared for the sheer scope of exploration of new people and experiences they offered. Just as fun as reading books (and I used to be a regular squatter at libraries in my younger days, exploring other peoples exploration through their writing). I could continue to add to it, but it really sums it up. I love games that gives me a feeling of exploration and discovery
  23. I just bought that one 10 minutes ago. If nothing else, because my original cd's are getting a bit on the worn side after so many years of shuffling around inside the box. At $2.50 it was a bit of a bargain for a "backup" though.
  24. I predict the fighting will continue at least until after 22nd of January 2013.
