Porn or Quantum Mechanics, such difficult choices for todays internet search... I wonder if those guys needed a degree to reach that conclusion? @Gromnir: A worrying trend. European history has its own share of what happens when enough (especially young) feels a hopeless situation can only be alleviated by the local demagogue.

Being member number 666, I guess it's only fitting I get to write reply number 666 in this thread... More forumite daily adventures here

Start of old thread End of old thread I have an alt on these boards... Below is quoted from Orogun, end of previous thread: Isn't a Skald a viking bard? What's the difference? Do Skalds only play heavy metal and don't require consent to bed someone?

Had one of those slightly surreal experiences the day before yesterday. Many people will know, that simple chores is not something we spend a lot of thoughts on, our brains works out a plan and tells our body to go ahead and execute it. Funny situations occur when things get in the way and prevents your body from executing the "script" that the brain came up with. Was about to take out the rubbish when I got home from work and yes, it's one of those things you barely engage 3 brain cells to do. Thing is just, I made it halfway to the rubbish bin in my backyard when I stopped. Standing there for some very long moments with a dumb, uncomprehending look on my face before the brain pulled the manual override lever and asked my body why it had stopped. Turned out there was a large tree in my backyard that usually wasn't there. In fact, I was very sure there didn't used to be a tree between my backdoor and the rubbish bin at all. I put the rubbish down where I stood and walked back in again. That would be a task for another day :D As it turned out, torrential rain and very strong winds had torn parts off a very large, old tree in the neighbours garden and it had fallen down, through the fence, on top of my backyard and was leaning up against the house wall and roof. It was just that bizarre realisation of how much we sometimes do without conscious thought that struck me as somewhat "enlightening"

SW: The Old Republic - Episode VIII (May RNG Be With You)
Gorth replied to Blarghagh's topic in Computer and Console
5 days left as a sub, then the game gets uninstalled for good. 4+ years and thousands of dollars later, I guess I need to find a new hobby. The process of disillusionment that started with the removal of the Unload skill was completed when they removed my beloved flamethrower. While only taking all the fun out of my main character, the command point bull**** was the proverbial iceberg that sank the game for me. Might actually help me reducing my backlog of unplayed single player games. -
Obvious alts... MelkathII, MelkathIII, MelkathIV, MelkathV, MelkathVI ?
-
I wonder if there isn't some kind of irony in there... People complaining about Obsidian always making sequels At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I would sell my soul for a WH40K Inquisitor rpg (with good TB combat).

The game was on a 50% off sale (the GOTY version) late December. Decided to pick it up from GOG. At my current catch up speed on old games, I should be ready to play in about 2-3 years

But... but... X-Com: Apocalypse had a real time combat option, and it was significantly easier to win the game with it. Not to mention a truckload faster. Enemy amounts near the end really got ludicrous. Probably. I tried it for half an encounter and decided that rts mechanics does truly suck in tactical combat. Never touched it again

I know, there is an "official" happy holidays thread, but since I generally detest political correctness, let's call a spade a spade and call the holiday by its name. No, I don't really celebrate Christmas (that would make me a hypocrite in my own eyes), but I can appreciate it is a matter of importance for a lot of people. So, to all you out there who celebrate it and to whom it matters, I wish you Merry Christmas and all the best for you and your loved ones. PS: Happy New Year too to those who wont be around between the holidays.

SW: The Old Republic - Episode VIII (May RNG Be With You)

Eric Musco on their ideas for changes to gearing More RNG Hey folks, There is some good conversation going on in this thread but I thought I would pop in and explain how it is currently planned to work in 5.1. The last boss of each Operation is guaranteed to drop unassembled pieces of a specific slot (we are still working out how many pieces drop). Each other boss in an Operation has an increasing chance (by boss) to drop any unassembled piece, not a specific slot. For the sake of the example I am about to make, I will use Karagga's Palace. Everything listed below is an example and not necessarily what will be in-game, these are just representative of the way the system will work. 1st boss (Bonethrasher) - 20% chance to drop any unassembled piece. 2nd boss (Jarg and Sorno) - 25% chance to drop any unassembled piece. 3rd boss (Foreman Crusher) - 30% chance to drop any unassembled piece. 4th boss (Fabricator) - 35% chance to drop any unassembled piece. Final boss (Jarg and Sorno) - 100% chance to drop unassembled head piece. Hopefully that clears up any confusion! -eric ...and this, is why I look forward to save *lots* of real world money 2017. -
Didn't know you could get a degree in that... Me, I don't put much weight on formality, I just ask my gay friends (or a couple of family members) If I'm curious about something related to the subject. No better way to get straight (pun unintended) answers.

Ban Euro Truck Driving Simulator! Games like that lead our young astray and turn them into violent offenders. J/K of course, my condolences to the victims relatives. Sadly the latter will probably be reduced to fuel for the internal political squabbling in Germany.

My problem is, the few games I truly enjoyed in 2016 were most likely released 2015 or earlier Dishonoured (the first one) and Pillars of Eternity being the better known ones. Yes, I'm always a bit behind the curve when it comes to catching up on games. A Curious Expedition being the lesser known title I had fun playing.

Rogue has to be one of those English words that are just hard to get right. Up there with those sharp edged celestial beings (Angels -> Angles). The sheer number of Angles of Death and Rouge Traders you came across n Wh40k. Those make-up peddlers were all over the galaxy

Typical Queensland weather... did my laundry early Sunday afternoon and hung it out on the lines to dry. Late in the afternoon, I got a 5 minute warning, bright flash followed immediately by the boom knocking me backwards in my chair Sky turned pitch black in a matter of minutes and it was a mix of torrential rain, hail and thunder and lightning the following 30 minutes. Early evening and my poor clothes was soaking wet. As in way more wet than when I took it out of the washing machine At least the temperature dropped from 30c to 25c, but air humidity was through the roof.

What leveling or class system do you like most?
Gorth replied to Madscientist's topic in Computer and Console
Classless experience based. Assuming I can lump games like the Fallouts into that category? Not being much of a "power gamer" in general, I love creating outlandish, outrageous characters. A bit hit or miss if they perform well in a game, but more fun for me to play none the less. -
I wish more games used the Jagged Alliance 2 / X-Com 3: Apocalypse approach... real time until combat is commenced, then turn based using an initiative system (with the hilarity that follows from bad/luck interrupt rolls)

Just go ahead and do that stuff now if you want, it's perfectly fine to do so. In my opinion, a certain dungeon beneath the hangman tree is more challenging early on, well with one clear exception, but I won't spoil anything for you. If it's the temple under the big tree, yeah, went there as one of the first things I did. Found it somewhat challenging (on default difficulty) I quite liked it though, gave me that "IWD Vibe". Off to visit the lordling it is then

Going to finish chapter 9 (last chapter) in the swtor expansion and in Pillars of Eternity, I'm going meet someone who wants to talk to me in the Ducal Palace. My expansions of the keep are coming along nicely too. Haven't seen too many of them, but some of those visitors you get were nice little distractions. Edit: Speaking of PoE I made my way to the home of that lordling that decided to hang people in the neighbourhood. Made some roads inwards in his castle, but not sure if I'm supposed to be doing that at this stage in the game or just leave it be until later.

I still think of KOTOR 3, and you? : )
Gorth replied to theBalthazar's topic in Computer and Console
Depending on the execution of it, they might have made it a more "credible" story by emphasizing your Mandalorian heritage rather than your bounty hunter heritage. There does seem to be some loose association between Mandalorian clans and the Empire. At least enough for them to have their own enclave in Dromund Kaas. I really resented Gault when playing my first character. Eventually he grew on me, but it did take 2-3 years of real time Edit: as for why I picked the bounty hunter for my first class, 2 reasons: Mako was cute and I loved the armour displayer on their website for the powertech class (which of course was no longer available ingame when I started playing) -

Dulfys short version of coming gearing changes *Facepalm!* Ok, who didn't see that one coming. I guess plummeting subscriber numbers must have sent them scrambling. Introducing unassembled gear token drops from ops bosses end of January. -

Never underestimate the anger resulting from snowballs! Edit: Which gives 20 cxp btw when you score a snow covered parcel -
The lack of any decent ending didn't ruin the game for me. Kai Leng did a much better job of that. To be fair, the ME3 had some pretty good bits of story in between the bad parts. Some of them I even found awesome.
