  1. @melkathi Sniff... that is sheer nostalgia! Still playing mostly Guild Wars 2. My favourite area so far is still the former human kingdom of Orr. Sunk underneath the waves by magic out of control and raised centuries later by equally powerful magic (including the former inhabitants). The area is huge and has a staggering amount of detail (for a MMO) Same place, my necromancer scouring the area for crafting materials... Such a nice and gloomy feel
  2. On topic... still playing Guild Wars 2, still having tonnes of fun just running around exploring and doing open world PVE. Finally got my Necromancer leveled up to 80 and had hero points to spare, so unlocked the 'Scourge' elite specialisation and put the remaining point in it. I can't help myself, too many alts! Anyway, cheated a bit, besides jumping to first part of Path of Fire, also jumped to first part of Heart of Thorns. PoF to unlock a mount, HoT to unlock the gliding skill. Gliding is fun.... until I noticed that shrinking endurance bar, which sent me plummeting to my death once it was exhausted
  3. Dang, I bought that one not long ago!.... fun game btw.
  4. I know this is mostly for a (currently non existing) history thread in way off topic, but there was a bit more to the story about nukes, japan and surrender than most westerners seems to think about normally. In august 1945 the Soviets invaded Manchuria with 1.5 millon troops and annihilated the Japanese army there (700k strong) in two weeks and were poised for invading Japan within a short time. Nobody in Washington fancied a million strong Soviet army taking over former Japanese territories (the latter being entirely my speculation)
  5. Australia, Australia never changes.... This article is a few years old, but as of today, it still applies Canberra, the coup capital of the world... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-34249214
  6. Ironically, I play some not quite new coop games when feel like playing with friends (mostly Portal 2 and Saints Row 3) and when I feel like playing solo games, I play Guild Wars 2 (yes, an MMO, don't ask, I know it doesn't make sense) We had so much fun completing coop Portal 2, I think I need to play the solo campaign too some day, never tried that, and frankly not sure it will be the same.
  7. It's like 'The Little Shop of Horrors' in here... where is my herbicide when I need it???
  8. Heh, aliens stole the fruit snacks... Just guessing now, Trump will blame the press for inventing fake fruit snacks, Fox will blame the Democrats for taxing them out of existence, BBC News will blame Putin for stealing them... could go on for a while
  9. Usually Fox "News" is only good for a laugh, but in this case, the Danish politicians response to the rather uninformed (nicest way I can put it) person making some really weird claims about Denmark is more funny than the original video...
  10. The "Magician" you encounter first time at level 10 (if human of noble descent)? Yes, I recognized the guy. I still remember bursting out laughing
  11. So, finally finished the "main" story in Guild Wars 2. The big bad guy is defeated and you go back to Fort Trinity to celebrate and count your losses. I didn't really pay attention to the music until the vocals started (about a minute in), but I quickly took a liking to it. Youtube search ftw!
  12. Hmm, I'll have to check my library. I'm sure I tried a remake a few years ago. It completely missed the point and felt like a dumbed down, completely linear corridor shooter with no exploration whatsoever involved. It was not a steam or a gog purchase, maybe when I still bought games from gamersgate. Will need to check. On a more positive note, games that I still like to dust off and play every now and then: Jagged Alliance 2, Master or Orion 2 and X-Com3: Apocalypse. Whoever came up with dos-box... thank you!
  13. Still enjoying Guild Wars 2.... I like when not forced to be in a group to enjoy an hour or two of casual play. No problem finding players either when in the mood for something that requires a group. My thief running around in the frozen wastes... Swamps and sewers always held this weird attraction... must explore! squish... squish... squish... Heh, no fighting here, but underwater combat does take a little bit to get used to. No "up" or "down" when rolling around, dog fighting underwater.
  14. You can argue whether it was good or not, but dang, some of those old SSI games on the Commodore 64 impressed with their AI opponents at the time. Whether small or grand strategy. Bear in mind, there was NOT a lot of giant shoulders to stand on at the time to look for ideas...
  15. Still playing Guild Wars 2 and enjoying it.... My thief went to the land of burning sand, burning sun, sun burns, burning villages and burning villagers... generally a hot place it was worth the blisters though, getting this! My own little riding lizard!
  16. This looks perfectly safe! How could you possibly resist super shiny things???
  17. I should take a break from Guild Wars 2 some day and finish a personal project in Borderlands 2... I made it to OP1 on my "main" toon. Would love to some day get to OP8.
  18. I don't know which country looks the most like Skyrim, but I think it's safe to say that New Zealand probably gets the closest to Lord of the Rings Yeah, lived and worked there for 3 years. 1 year in Germany (Berlin) and 1 year in the UK (Greater London area). Born and raised in Denmark, living in Australia currently (12 years) The countries are somewhat different, so would probably prefer to answer for only one of them if needed (yeah, lazy me)
  19. Only three dreams affected me strongly enough to remember them for the rest of my life. Two of them I wish I could forget (enough said) and the third one was this odd phenomena called 'lucid dreams'. That was surreal. Once I realised I could control the dream, I went completely overboard. I could literally change the reality around me through force of will. Sadly I did wake up eventually.
  20. Still having fun playing Guild Wars 2. Mostly just playing the game "solo", enjoying the story and the nice landscapes and vistas. Currently working on a duo of characters that I'm trying to get to level 80 (because I really want to unlock mounts and save my feet from all that walking). I've dubbed them "The Beauty and the Beast" (I'll leave it to the viewer to decide who's who!). Reduced size images: Slaine the Warrior and Medb the Necromancer
  21. Zardoz was an awesome movie... I still re-watch it every now and then
  22. If I understood 'WvW' correctly in GW2 (Haven't tried it, not into PVP), it's server versus server PVP, so not really "factions". Nice idea. Supposedly can involve hundred of players fighting. Speaking of GW2, it's what I play most these days. Played seven different classes up to level 10 and decided to stick with Necromancer, Warrior and Ranger. Seems the most noob friendly classes for beginners like me to learn (edit: my necromancer is at level 26, trying hard to get to 30 and see what 'Dungeons' are all about)
  23. That attitude made Trump US president
  24. I wonder if the Dutch would ever survive the Belgians winning the WC
