  1. ...winter is coming.
  2. Atari? You mean that company that went bankrupt a few years ago, and now they make online casino, and free phone apps Yes, the same company that wrestled the D&D IP from Interplay and killed off "The Black Hound" project. It's a strange world sometimes.
  3. Never really got into the user made content, so NWN1 died for me before reaching the 4th gadget you had to find (iirc, it had the same quest "structure" as Kotor, go to the 4 corners of the known world and collect something to save the known world from some unimaginable evil). It could also have been Aribeths (sp?) voice that put me off the game, so dropped the game at the start of the 4th chapter/phase/whatever. Did complete NWN2 2 or 3 times, but after that it was also the end for me. Probably my least favourite Obsidian game to date (disclaimer: never completed Alpha Protocol, 2 or 3 mini games later and I uninstalled that game again). Did enjoy both NWN2 expansions though. Nevver got the NWN1 ones, although I think I might get some of those bundles on GOG.
  4. Oh come on, how hard can it be. Just bang two rocks together and you have fire to keep yourself warm here Actually, not sure what people are used to on other boards. Lurking a bit on the Paradox forums every now and then, but that's about it (having done that since EU III was released).
  5. If I remember correctly, it was a decision made by Atari, being the big guy at the time calling the shots. They probably expected the Bioware community to outlive the Obsidian community
  6. Slowly starting on the process of handing over stuff to colleagues. Still an awful lot to do in my last two weeks here though. I handed in my resignation last week, going to work a few more weeks and taking some time off to drive around and see places in England before doing my own "brexit".
  7. Tomorrow never dies... (yes, obscure Bond reference). Future news here
  8. Start of old thread End of old thread Probably a decade late to be relevant, but Neverwinter Nights 2 forums reopened on the Obsidian forums (probably as a result of the demise of the Bioware forums where they used to be hosted)
  9. (Insert some clever quote from the Doors and this is the end here) More music here
  10. Music from the past... Start of old thread End of old thread Last contribution: Was searching for something completely else on youtube when I saw this "music video". The animation is one of those completely irreverent Danish things, a move called Ronald Barbaren (Ronal the Barbarian in the English dubbed version). Yes, it features a lot of Babes, Balls, Boobs, Biceps and Barbarians. Wouldn't recommend watching it (the full movie) at work http://youtu.be/-isQ68kitcs

    Wordless..

He's probably spent too much time with Dak'kon in PS:T, pondering how order and structure is trying to put shackles on and limit Entropy.
  12. I disagree. JK is just...traditional. To the fault. But then you've IA that is anything but traditional...so it evens up? For anyone wanting a KoTOR 3...they have it. I was just mentioning the reality of a situation. Also about the SW...it is a good class...if you want to be a slave and a servant through and through(most likely both). SW often remarks how he is of ancient Sith lineage, but for some reason it all rings empty. On the other side you've the likes of Inquisitor who are indeed slaves and are painfully aware of that and will do anything to remedy the reality of a situation. Once the Inq begins throwing around stuff like "...too bad they aren't me!"(or the ultimate silliness "shut up and let me think!")...you know the **** hit the fan. Thusly I could never get into SW mindset: either a murderer or a slave...wtf? But then again the SW was inspired by Vader, so...it is a proper way to do it. Vader himself was a slave all until Luke set him free in RoTJ(or perhaps even as early as Empire). My problem wasn't so much with the class mechanics, I love both the tank and the dps specs for both (which is why I played several alts through both SW and JK stories). The stories even start decently enough. Problem for me was, when you get to chapter 3 it has devolved into bizarreness and endless grind of hordes of high hp trash mobs, JK on Corellia being especially dreadful and uninteresting. The Sith ghost that Vowrawn (sp?) pulls out his hat for you to kill in the SW story made as much sense as Kai Lengs presence in ME3. None at all As said, don't get me wrong, I love the game. With that much content there is bound to be things you consider ups and downs.

    Wordless..

Words are just a way to express something. Somewhere along the way, it gave an evolutionary advantage being able to communicate with them, so our physique and brains adapted to it. You might as well express yourself with cat pictures, putting your fist in somebody's face or put your body in front of an armoured vehicle to protest something. Ask yourself, if you plan to take a cup out of the cupboard, does your brain hear the words "open cupboard, reach for cup" or do you see a mental image of it happening. Not sure about the answer to be honest, as conscious thought seems to chase the image/words away from your mind. I do know, if someone asks me what I planned to do, it's easier to express in words that I planned on taking a cup out of the cupboard than doing some elaborate, stylistic dance illustrating how a cupboard open and a cup approaches my hand. Edit: wow, Amentep is fast, putting it in less words than me no less
  14. You can do it mate (said the restless itinerant) Slightly similar situation, handing in notices for this and that, cancelling my tenancy, utilities etc. while looking for an apartment in Brisbane and checking flight tickets to same place.
  15. I love SWOTOR. I've been a sub and played it for close to 4 years, having several alts of each and completing the class stories multiple times. But sheesh, the Jedi Knight story is bad. That and the Sith Warrior could use a replacement if such a thing had been possible. Especially chapter 3 in each class is particularly dire
  16. I have to ask... what game is that??? Edit: Yes, unashamed chainmail bikini and impractical armour fan since Maria Whitaker posed for Barbarian on the C64
  17. General Sir Nils Olav receives the King of Norway and perform troop inspections together: http://youtu.be/v6CcWRhr9sw
  18. Hey, it's simple math, a two-party system must be twice as good as a one-party system! I think you have to be raised with such a system to fully grasp it. Growing up in a system with 4-6 left and 4-6 right wing parties in parliament (depending on which decade), it always seemed strange when people spoke about political news from across the Atlantic and wondering how those two parties could represent so many people. Edit: As a young man, relatively ignorant of politics, I probably attributed it to Americans living in a very homogenous society.
  19. Why not? She's a power obsessed megalomaniac
  20. I'm not GD, but it's a situation where you have to keep the bigger picture in mind, like how likely is the candidate to actually damage the country. Trump may be the off the cuff talking buffoon with all the social grace of a British soccer hooligan from the 80's, but as mentioned previously in this thread, odds are he'll be mired down in opposition from both factions. Clinton on the other hand is devious, lying and manipulative enough to actually get active damage done over a 4 year period compared to "just" 4 years of the US being in a state of limbo.
  21. Body "language" >> Written Language
  22. Worst case scenario, I hear Russia welcomes political refugees from the US
  23. Suckers!.... (yeah I know, bad pun). Looks like they are off to a stormy relationship
  24. I thought they had special mushrooms for everything in the Netherlands
  25. Other than getting an aspirin after banging my head against a concrete pillar, I believe my only experience with painkillers was a shot of opium administered by nurse after waking up from surgery. Helped me sleep through the first night (scar was still sore as heck the following days, but nothing like the hours just after waking up). It was 30+ years ago, so they might use something else post-surgery these days. Sleeping through the "effects", I wouldn't know what I missed out on (if anything). Gromnir probably answered his own question in part, if taken together with a hefty dose of pain, it probably conditions the brain to not look forward to continue the experience. That's all speculation and guesswork of course. Edit: Duh, just reading TN's post, the shot administered after surgery was indeed also morphine, not opium. Did I mention it was a long time ago?
