  1. English is the platypus of European languages
  2. Ok, I'll leave out Dead Space then... it does have some "impressive" locations Genuinely beautiful games... Guild Wars 2 was already mentioned. A hidden little gem of a game would be Trine (and 2 and 3). Besides being visually beautiful (imho) it is also a fun coop game for up to 3 players.
  3. The summary is bloody milennials (the tl;dr; version) https://www.heraldsun.com.au/coronavirus/new-saliva-test-fasttracked-to-coronavirus-hotspot-suburbs/news-story/f7e706de36bbf5c7b47cec1b5de77e7e Then you can always start digging into why they think rules are for everyone except *me*
  4. It was a bit hard not to laugh at the delivery of that last part I mostly remember fireworks from New Years in Sydney Harbour and Guy Fawkes day in Wellington Australia is almost doing good on the covid19 front these days except those bastards in Melbourne. Can't build that wall on QLD's southern border fast enough! Edit: Don't ask why, it's probably a British thing celebrating a terrorist trying to blow up the parliament.
  5. I would like to stress the point, that he's not talking about the moderator team Sorry to hear Fionavar. I know cats aren't always as close to people as other four legged friends, but I do I remember growing up with what can best be described as just about managing to make themselves an indespensable part of the family before fate decided it wasn't to be, After the third time, my parents decided it was too much heartbreak for us kids. I hope you and the rest of the pack will cope
  6. Hooking up with a pair of young ladies tonight at one of their places for some take away food and an evening of video gaming and rum tasting... probably more of the latter Edit: Jackbox games amongst others, is quite fun when you can get a few people together (2-3 other will join us online). As for the rums... Kraken, Ratu (from Fiji), Bundaburg... a few others
  7. Modern, spoken English is a bit like "simplified English". Seveal old place names have the ces part silent. Like e.g. Leicester. Worcester & Gloucester. (lester, woster and gloster) Edit: There were some quite funny youtube videos a few years ago where non-English speakers were trying to pronounce Leicester (after they won the English Premiere League) Edit2: And you're by far not the only one... an American trying to pronounce English names (Worcester is about the minute mark)
  8. A bit late to the party, but there are some decent free to play MMO's out there which might fit the bill. Both Guild Wars 2 and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic are perfectly playable as single player, 3D rpgs. I know, the latter isn't really "fantasy", more like space opera. But still, you got knights in shiny armour prancing around, fighting with swords. (and the former has a slight steam punk influence too, I mean, nowhere in Tolkiens books did your armies form up around gun batteries, protecting the mega laser while it's charging up to shoot a baddie)
  9. Bad Hollywood producers couldn't make up that stuff. Edit: correcting myself, if could be a filler episode of X-Files
  10. I know generalizing is lazy, but he fits the mold from which populists are spewed forth. Mussolini, Bolsonaro, Trump, Kim, Modi, Erdogan, Netanyahu etc... cut from the same fabric. Thriving on division, conflict and aggression. A fearful population looks for aggressive leaders, so they do what they can to stir up unrest and if no flames are to be fanned, start a few little convenient wars (or trade conflicts).
  11. On the bright side, shopping at Newegg may become a bit cheaper...
  12. One day, Queen met a Dalek...
  13. I'm sure if, that if humans don't kill themselves off the surface of the earth, Yellowstone will do it for them. "In terms of large explosions, Yellowstone has experienced three at 2.08, 1.3, and 0.631 million years ago. This comes out to an average of about 725,000 years between eruptions. ... Although another catastrophic eruption at Yellowstone is possible, scientists are not convinced that one will ever happen." https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/yellowstone-overdue-eruption-when-will-yellowstone-erupt?qt-news_science_products=0#qt-news_science_products Reminds me of one of the reasons I was keen to leave Wellington (NZ) and move elsewhere. Down through Lambton Quay (in the the heart of the city) are plaques commemorating the shoreline that was there in 1855.... and Wellington seems to get a major earthquake like every 150 years or so? (don't quote me on the last figure, based on memory). If the last one moved the shoreline 250 meters... better hang on to hats and umbrellas, it might get rocky.
  14. ....the already created (and closed) thread on the subject.
  15. Lots of derailment that followed has been split off to another topic. Lets stay on discussions about the game in this thread.
  16. Did you listen to what you just wrote? The only one who said anything about having refused him was Chris. Oh yeah, and because she was having her period, which may have had something to do with it. There was no mutual agreement to "stop" (more likely Chris got turned off by the idea of sex with a girl having her period, no matter how horny he was and how passed out she was)
  17. Nobody (except you so far) brought up 'rape' here. Sexual harassment has been alleged. Using his industry position for the purpose has been alleged. But it sounds like you've already declared the alleged victims (plural) guilty. Victim blaming is not an uncommon response in third world countries. I would prefer to know more facts before passing judgement (public or privately)
  18. I would have agreed if it was a one off thing, getting a (underage looking at the time) girl dead drunk and try to get into her pants (there was no mutual agreement to stop, not sure where you picked up that, maybe from one of the user comments who made it up). But it seems it (sexual harassment) was a pattern over several years and not a unique thing. Sounds not unlike the Harvey Weinstein stuff... which may be why companies want to distance themselves a bit. But, like so many other things, it would be nicer if processed in a courtroom, with processes and proceeds, than the internet judge, jury and executioners on forums. False allegations have happened before. A better overview of all the details is required to form an, well, an informed opinion.
  19. Just wait for someone to declare 2020 a hoax, manufactured by fake news. It was a GREAT year! Edit: My favourite 2020 joke so far is the picture someone posted in the funny thread with your girl Pandora with her latest unboxing video
  20. ...and because I skipped a day somewhere...
  21. The real thing....
  22. Taking a break from posting a long series of Rammstein in the metal thread... now for something completely different. A woman with a voice to die for.
  23. Look at the bright side, they could have added vuvuzela sounds
  24. That must be like watching old sitcoms with canned laughter
  25. Haven't posted here in a while... still enjoying Guild Wars 2. Latest episode in Season 5 is a blast. Literally. Just stay out of the circles, right? Dang circles are everywhere. You especially risk steping in them in the last boss fight, which is a helicopter you have to shoot down with bazookas (helicopters are used quite a lot in this game, especially in the jungle warfare)
