  1. I'm sure I remember having read in an old history book that the people of Leon felt a lot of resentment against Castille for their cultural dominance and the Leonese language being under threat. Hmm... wrong thread. I'm sure we had a history thread somewhere
  2. That's because other countries have closed their borders and don't take asylum seekers from the US
  3. Sounds very similar to the arguments the Soviets gave for intervening in Budapest and Prague.
  4. I'm fairly sure that would've been Putin's motives for supporting Trump as well (a cat fight between China and the US is like happy hours for Putin)
  5. I'm honestly not sure what the aboriginal people think about things these days, but they happen to live in a country that is so ass backwards that it's frigging scary. Powerful church and conservative groups dominate the political scene. It's not a surprise that it's the country that brought you things like Rupert Murdoch and his News Corporatoon. Second most disgusting thing since "Reichsministerium für Volksaufklärung und Propaganda". In the meantime, aboriginal people die in droves in custody, have a disproportional representation in child sex abuse only beaten by the church and domestic violence issues and alcohol abuse you wouldn't believe. A natural consequence if a few centuries of abuse and exploitation, even going as far as forcefully remove their kids at some point and adopt away to white couples, Teach them how to live properly right? Also to breed out their "blackness" by force. You name it. They have no special rights or protection in modern Australia. Latest headlines was when one the mining companies decided that this 40000 (yes, forty thousand) year old place of worship was in the way of an expansion of an iron ore dig and simply blew it up with explosives. With the conservative party's blessing mind you, because we can't let such a thing get in the way of our main fund raisers and party donors.
  6. Oh, racism is officially not an issue in Australia anymore. The aboriginal people got reclassified as human beings in the 70's here (before that, they were legally classified as flora and fauna). No kidding. That's how far behind this country is in many ways.
  7. That's just to score some drama points I think. His MO. Stir the pot, ignore conversation. I'm sure someone else would have called it either a critical point or a point of no return. But it sounds fancier trying to give it some kind of scientific spin even if sounds exactly like what it is. A tabloid headline.
  8. How I'll always remember him...
  9. She's obviously very dangerous. We can't see her red eyes and fangs from this angle... As for bright colours Camouflage is the colour of fear... I have no need to hide from my foes... I have no fear of death. My colours I wear openly, they proclaim louder than any words, "I am proud to live - I am proud to die". Carab Culln, of the Red Scorpions
  10. From the maker of games... that are nothing like this one
  11. ...and some slower paced Rammstein: edit: for a bit of fun, a cover version sung in English
  12. Not Rammstein, but front man Till Lindemann's solo project: Praise Abort! (it's not really about condoning aborts but about condemnation of parents that should never have had kids in the first place) Controversial subjects and profanity ahead...
  13. I would honestly prefer a lesser generalization here and say, "some" people would fall for it
  14. Maybe they were stockpiling toilet paper and that's why the Bush administration wanted feet on the ground there.? Trumps new election strategy... send more federal troops to Democrat controlled cities and stir up unrest: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-53507660
  15. A rather unusual vocal range
  16. Improved! Sorry, it was just such an obvious thing to substitute
  17. Depends on how you define "West". Poland and Hungary both seems to have gotten tired of the whole democracy experiment and are heading full speed down the path of becoming totalitarian regimes (using Erdogans Turkey as a role model for how they want their countries run). Italy... looks like it's about to collapse under it's own corruption and inefficiency in governing. A dictatorial Berlusconi was the closest they got to a government not being replaced once a year since WW II. The UK.... The jury is still out. Lets see if it's still the UK 3 years from now (or just England+Wales+Ulster and then Scotland). Belgium is barely keeping together. A bit more social unrest and watch that space for all your daily news.
  18. Not hanging around as much as I would love to... back to working insane hours regularly. We are looking for more staff now though, including more junior developers. Crossing fingers and hoping I get back to normal work load again in the not so distant future The container with all my personal belongings departed Hamburg on the 14th, so crossing fingers and hoping the ship gets a smooth voyage to Australia. Who knows, in a month and a half, I might get all my old furniture, books, movies, Warhammer miniature collections, photos, heck, even my old bed back. Stuff I haven't seen for almost 6 years.
  19. I saw a trailer for a war movie and thought it looked very different from the usual Hollywood style drivel that glorifies war. Made in the Soviet Union in 1985 with a cast and crew completely unknown in my part(s) of the world I think. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091251/ Ordered the movie on DVD from Amazon. Will share what I think once I've watched it in its entirety.
  20. This way of thinking makes you part of the problem and not the solution. Maybe people will evolve enough some day to get over the "race" thing and realize than other than a tool for lumping people together, sometimes forcefully, things are unlikely to change. Btw, North America and the US are not natively Caucasian. A bit late for the native population to ask the immigrants to pack up and leave though.
  21. Food for at least 7 days!
  22. I can't remember if i posted this one recently...
  23. ,,,fanfare to the common tax payer
  24. The counter argument would be, those IP's seems to have suffered for each new installment in the series. Possible exception (no rule without exceptions) would be Witcher III which might be as least as good as the first game in the series. Fallout 76 and ME: Andromeda may have turned a profit, but at what cost for the owners reputations? (can't talk about DA:3 as I struggled with boredom every time I tried to get past the tutorial level(). Spin offs may be good though, rather than trying to recreate initial successes in a setting.
  25. Saw that one on the BBC, Greed and stupidity just seems to go hand in hand There should be a first law of the internet, nothing there is to be taken at face value and second law that says if an offer sounds too good to be true, you're getting ripped off big time.
