  1. Those who haven't done it yet ,you should open a metacritic account and give this game a 9 or 10 score here: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/pillars-of-eternity Many gamers are heavily influenced by user scores in this site and a higher score means better sales!
  2. There are 77000 backers if only a small portion of them will vote ,no practical amount of trolls will be enough to lower the score. There is no excuse for those who love the game not to join this site and to give this game the score it deserves.
  3. What are you posting about ? the game does supports several languages and not only English....
  4. I hope that everyone who loves it will vote in metacritic... we need this game to succeed if we want a sequel and an higher metascore will help it a lot in that department.
  5. I hope that there are some guys that are working on that right now in Obsidian. There seem to be some guys that complain about bugs at the steam forum as well. I prefer to wait for at least a day or two before I am downloading this game until I am sure it is stable.
  6. I would bet that the devs were more stressed/excited than any of us...
  7. One of the reviewers noted that it took him 60 hours to finish the game with around 50 side quests on normal difficulty. I wonder how many side quests are there and if he had cleared the mega dungeon.
  8. It will get around 90 and maybe more. If this game is good there will be at least 70000 backers who will want it to have a squeal and to be a commercial success . Even if tenth of us will post metascores the troll scores won't matter at all. Just remember to post your scores after you made your opinion about the game. That way It will sell better.
  9. The story was good ,the music was Great and the game play was fun and challenging. At last ,an RPG that doesn't take place in some dark medieval settings but in some beautiful locations and it doesn't take itself so seriously . (And you could could create two hotties as protagonists)
  10. Well ,do you know of any other game that lets you control two hot redheaded girls as your protagonists?
  11. Furthermore it took the first place in gmg which is a site that doesnt have any free keys related to it.
  12. They should just make sure that this release will be as stable as possible so they won't get a lot of negative user reviews right at release. As long as it is ,it will sell well just for the Baldurs gates' nostalgia factor alone. The quality of this game might influence sells for best or for worst after a week or two considering that right now it seems like the professional reviews are going to be relatively good and it will take a while for non backers user reviews to kick in in metacritic considering the length of this game (and I am pretty sure many backers will give it a 9/10 on its' first day just to try and help this genre). Let's tone down the Hero Worship just a bit. It does actually sound reasonable , after all there are around one billion Internet users world wide... I agree that everyone should play it!
  13. Well it was a very bad game by itself but the main plot was copied directly into Mass Effect and somehow became amazing...
  14. A cRPG elitist here... Mass effects' story was great (Star control 3 FTW) ,the universe and species were interesting ,the character interactions were interesting and the gameplay was fun and dynamic and it had a great multiplayer. I agree that It is a masterpiece. The fact that players got so attached to the story that they became nuts by its' ending just shows how good it was. KOTOR 2 for example had a relatively weak ending and I didn't see fans trying to sue Obsidian for that..
  15. IMO this game is very good and it is more story and dialogue oriented than the Epic final fantasy series which is more combat based and quite good by itself... The first two chapters are preparing you for the full and more open third part. And the mechanics aren't that low level ,there are between 7 to 8 elements ,each one is good/weak against others. You need to react during attacks and defends and you can master item abilities so you can use them without the item. I think that It is deeper than the Stick of truth combat system which was also very fun to play with. I think Pseduwolf just got older and didn't have enough time to finish the series. He hasn't made any MMO/card game lately.
  16. A few years ago a young developer known by his Internet name Pseudowolf uploaded a browser RPG to the free gaming site Kongregate. This RPG is so good you won't believe it was made by a single individual (deep world/story, deep combat mechanics with intriguing elements, numerous enemy types and attacks ,composed music, epic boss battles, awesome loot a few secret areas and between 20-40 hours of gameplay) . Unfortunately he never finished all but the first 3 chapters. For anyone who loves turn based classic RPGs like the first Final fantasies and can look past the graphics , you MUST! play this game. I promise you that after you get into the story you will be surprised by how good this game is: chapter one (a prologue that explain the rules of the game): http://www.kongregate.com/games/Pseudolonewolf/mardek-rpg-chapter-1 chapter 2 http://www.kongregate.com/games/Pseudolonewolf/mardek-rpg-chapter-2 chapter 3: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Pseudolonewolf/mardek-rpg-chapter-3 As I recall you can transfer saves between chapters to transfer the loot.
  17. Yes and they should add Nazis too ,killing Nazis is also cool an they should also add LAZORS!!1 and jet packs. The zombie "genre" is saturated and full of cheap and repeated cliches . And yes ,they laughed about that in South park the stick of truth so I am pretty sure that they won't make another lame zombie game. I am not sure what the chances are that such a game will will be funded but I do want a space exploration/sand box game with ship upgrade system and ship to ship battle mechanics like Star control 2/3 ,Space rangers:rise of the dominators (which is one of the most underrated games ever created a must buy for anyone who likes this genre) and some of Sierras' old stuff. People love cliches, just admit it, we see cliches everywhere and we enjoyed it, we live on cliches, we succumb to cliches, what is the meaning of a an art and entertainment without cliches? Space explorations are also full of cliches, you will see another Halo, Star Craft, Mass Effect, Unreal, Star Wars....all are based on the same cliches. What i am suggesting is ancient-medieval zombie apocalypse, yes the theme is cliche but what makes it's different is the time set up, the environment, the story, even so it is a zombie apocalypse it will not be the same with Resident Evil, The Walking Dead, World War Z...because it have different package Look at Dark Souls, literally it is a zombie apocalypse, you meet zombies the very first time you play at the Nothern Asylum...and those NPCs at Firelink they are all...zombies...the Undead. You yourself is a zombie. But then when you go further into the game, you realize there is a story behind everything you meet along the way...the story is cliche, but you won't feel it, because the environment and everything I don't say Dark Souls is good, the game suck actually But what i mean is people love it, because of the reasons i listed above Nearly half of the new games on steam are zombie games. Every shi*** developer is trying his luck with this genre because it needs no good plot or conclusion . The last zombie game that was worth mentioning IMO was the Last of us. Everything else is just so repetitive that I am pretty sure that many fans of this genre are tired of that and might not feel the urge to fund a new game even if its' settings are unique, but I might be wrong and the guys in Obsidian can surely create something special if they want to... Note that Pillars of eternity succeeded because many people missed the original RPGs and there were almost no games like that in the last 10+ years (Larian studios games are exceptions but up until DO:S they weren't at the same level of the old classics). So people felt that was their chance to resurrect this genre. I am pretty sure that a kickstarter for a game type that is so common won't be such a success. I think that the isometric/2D space-RPG genre still has a lot of fans and for the last 15+ years there was only one game I can think about that somehow fits into the shoes of Star control ,plus ,those games are pretty cheap to make so it might be a good idea for a relatively low risk kickstarter (Even though it might be too late as the original gamers are too old). A one of it's kind RPG similiar to Jade empire might also be a good idea even though it isn't well known as BG... And I believe that the people who love Dark Souls are mainly challenge hungry masochists who love to fail a lot and to suffer from those horrible combat mechanics. I usually have a lot of patience and I was able to cope with the second witcher but this was way too much for me...
  18. So it might even get into the 90-100++ hours zone with regular amount of side content for an RPG. Man this is going to be like NWN again ,a game which is so long that I will wish it to end just so I can get back into my life....
  19. How many acts are there? He is probably playing like an experienced player so it might take a newbie a few more hours to get into it.
  20. That probably translates into between 70-80 hours of game play in a regular play through and this is at the very least which is great for an RPG.
  21. I am excited about the IE mode that will fix all those annoying mechanics and design choices that everyone seem to argue about in the beta forums... Other than that I hope the Boss fights will be Epic and the story will make me hate Obsidian for neglecting my work.
  22. Yeah, but mostly those games are of modern era where you use guns, the survival factor is different if it's in medieval era. How we want to survive a zombie apocalypse without guns? There was a Kickstarter similar to what you are describing called Dead Crusade. It didn't generate enough interest and was cancelled after 15 days. I suspect a game with this theme likely wouldn't generate enough financial return to justify the investment. Really? But from what i see on the net, zombie apocalypse theme is very popular, that is why zombie apocalypse games and movies are still relevant. But maybe gamers on games forums are just being picky and minority..... From what i know, people love zombie apocalypse because of i. it's dark nature and environment - it is a creepy demonic world where we must survive ii. emotional value - some zombies are crelated to main character iii. a world without law - everything justified by "i need to survive", the only thing stop you going too far is your own morality iv. mystery - surely there is a cause of the madness, want to find it out v. the feeling of being a survivor - you are a special one because you don't become a zombie, just don't get bitten by zombies vi. friendship is magic - everyone else are zombies, so your company is the only ones you can talk to, if they are not crazy vii. searching for hope - maybe there are other survivors, want to find them and bring them together to start a new life Yes and they should add Nazis too ,killing Nazis is also cool an they should also add LAZORS!!1 and jet packs.
  23. I never played the Beta but I am constantly picking at the Beta bugs section (Which apparently has less spoilers than this section of the forum) and I must say that it seems like the last version of the Beta isn't polished enough. Some bugs still don't look forgivable and I hope that they will be fixed on the final version (killed NPC resurrected after save and load?? really??). It might not be such a common phenomena and bother only a small part of the systems out there but I would advise you to wait for a short while until after the release to make sure that the big issues are patched and fixed and then buy it.
  24. You are worrying too much before even playing the damn thing. The game could be too easy or too difficult or none and it is useless to speculate about it before knowing for sure.
