  1. You again OP? At least this time your post hasn't been so offensive...
  2. It is almost the same as in BG2 . If you were good in that game the average combat was usually too short to cast high level spells unless the adversary was a spell caster himself or some unique creature like a beholder. I haven't play that much in POE but the combat does feel around the same length. But I do agree with you that they should balance the game a little bit...
  3. Where? I looked all over BG and athakala for one and couldn't find anything! You just shocked my world. Is it possible that those games were finished at launch?
  4. I do agree with you about large portion of your post: the combat in POE is much less dynamic and I don't like it. This is mostly because of the ****ty engagement system . I also miss the epic battles of BG 2, chaotic commands, resist fear then pierce magic/breach/lower resistance/remove magick and just then you could attack effectively with all sorts of different strategies... Alas the combat in this game is still fun. Not amazing but fun...
  5. I was always disappointed about the fact there weren't any bathrooms in any of the old IE games... Whats the point of having sewers under those cities if there aren't no toilets in any of the houses? It seriously breaks immersion for me and looks so artificial... I think that POE is totally unfinished until they will give us the ability to take a dump!
  6. So this game is unfinished because you can't walk? Well ,I guess that means that baldurs gate 2 was unfinished as well ,since you couldn't sit while other characters could...
  7. Most of those are design choices. And honestly some of you complains are stupid: why would you like to walk? There is a slow moving mode if you like it. There is no bashing because the devs didn't want to force you to play with any class so you can play without any fighter or any rouge on your group and still have a character that can lock pick and disarm traps if you put points in mechanics. There is no reason to throw stuff on the ground when you have an infinite stash. Ammunition managing was probably the most annoying thing in the old IE games ,the different arrow types just filled your inventory all the time. In BG2 and TOB the devs tried to minimize the need for ammo by giving you an infinite ammo ranged weapons(the gezen bow/the throwing dagger) and ammo stashes that never ends. This game is just continuing this trend.
  8. I'll ask again ,does anyone else tried to replicate it? It might be an isolated issue that doesn't affect many of the players...
  9. I tried it with several item slots and different items and couldn't replicate this bug. It might be a steam version issue... Anyone else tried to check if this bug applies to his characters? Anyway ,they should cancel the option to equip anything with double click until this is sorted out.
  10. As I already posted ,metacritic is a useful site if you are searching for new games in the genres you like and you want to have a general idea about the quality of the game. There are many great games that haven't been developed by big and famous companies so there is not a lot of information about them elsewhere including youtube lets play and video reviews.
  11. I won't be surprised if Bethesda bribed a critic site so they won't have to pay Obsidian the bonus for F:NV... Usually it takes a while for video reviews to kick in though especially with games that aren't AAA titles like this one.
  12. Our score has nearly topped 90 and I want it to increase above that so those who haven't done it yet and want Obsidian to succeed join the site and give this game a good score. And here is the reason why Metacritic does matter and how Obsidian lost a big bonus from Bethesda just because their Metascore for F:NV wasn't 85 or more : http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2012/03/why-linking-developer-bonuses-to-metacritic-scores-should-come-to-an-end/ Higher user score might help Obsidian to get more developing contracts in the future.
  13. I'd say that a game that scores a 90+ score on metacritic can't be that ****ty. You are essentially what is the problem with metacritic: haters and fanboys posting extreme ratings like 10/10 or 0/10 even though the game was actually somewhere inbetween. Again ,Evolve is a good example. The game might be fun for a few hours but thats it ,and yet it sold well in the beginning thanks to the hype and the great reviews he got probably after the reviewers played the game for maybe an hour or two. When it was released it had some great ''professional'' reviews of 9s and 10s but after a day users who played the game for more than few hours posted metascores of around 4 mainly thanks to its' short lifespan. This is an example of a ****ty game that got great reviews in metacritic and sold well only because of that. And this is also an example of a game that encourage many players to check the user scores of games they are interested in as well.
  14. Look at the graph for the minimum amount of sales. ****ty games with 90+ scores sold more than 50000 copies ,****ty games with less than 90 sold around a thousand . This is more than a 50 fold difference! probably because of an hype factor (ahm ahm Evolve ahm) So price is one of the other factors that makes the distribution so wide.
  15. You might be right but steam is showing the games' metascore in the games' selling page so people see it right before they are deciding to buy the game. (and I think that amazon does it too) And there are many players who love a game ,and are searching for similar games or games from the same developer and read about them in metacritic or in wikipedia. For example ,this is how I discovered Jade empire...
  16. Dude, do you know what "Variance" means in statistics? Basicly, this chart shows that there is literally no relation between metacritic scores and sales. Well ,after 2 degrees in physics I know the meaning of standard deviation very well... I happen to have worked in a biology lab for a while back and it was very common to see a chart like that (yes even on a logarithmic scale) and yet I could show that there was probably a trend. The fact that that the distribution can be very wide doesn't mean that its' metascore doesn't affect it at all but that there are other factors that can influence the game sells at the same degree. Furthermore ,if you look closely you will see that when you are entering the 90+ region it seems like the variance becomes smaller ,which probably means that when the reviews are great ,people tend to buy the game even if other factors they are usually buy games for aren't present.
  17. I am not asking them to do it now but it is logical to open a thread about it now because the next few days will probably see the biggest spike in the traffic to this forum for a long while. I want that many people that don't usually post here will be aware of that ,and when they will be ready to post their opinions and scores they should do it.
  18. Here I found a link that shows the relationship between metascore and steams' sales and it looks like the relation is exponential with a lot of noise: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2014/04/steam-gauge-do-strong-reviews-lead-to-stronger-sales-on-steam/ Furthermore having a 90 is pretty much a guarantee for around 800000 copies sold and usually many more.
  19. Of course ,take your time to play but remember that if you like it. It will be a good idea to improve the score as much as you can. I am posting this right now because many backers will visit the forum in the next few days. P.S many reviewers pirated this game or got a stream copy earlier.
  20. Usually gamers that have an urge to give a score to a game have a strong feelings about it. Someone who feels like he got burned will want to warn others and will give a very low score while someone else who loves a game will feel like he needs to tell others about it. Those who think the game is only good or meh won't have a lot of incentive to post a score at all.
  21. I rather that they will have enough money from sales the old fashioned way . Kickstarter is a big gamble and the last one, as big as it was didn't get enough revenue to fully finance this game. They had to add more money by themselves. Instead of behaving like typical CRPG elitists who discount anything mainstream including review sites ,you all should support the games and developers that you like so you will continue to get good products.
  22. What? Maybe you and many others don't give a crap ,but many gamers ,old and young alike look at this site like it's the imDb of gaming. While this game seems to do well for the time being an higher user metascore means better sales which means more money for Obsidian and for new games like this. There are always trolls in every game. The idea is to balance them with many good scores.
