  1. I used to get interference from my cell phone as well. If I had it behind my little subwoofer, it caused all sorts of static. Also, speaker placement was an issue. It doesn't sound like that's your problem, but it's an easy check.
  2. Thornton got tossed 5 minutes into his return to Boston...I only heard it on the radio so I have no clue if it's a bad hit. Still, Sharks are thumping them anyways.
  3. Some creepy stuff going on here...
  4. Well, the US is bound to have plenty of bizarre laws...it's a huge country made up of a ton of states, and in each state you have counties, and in each county you have cities and towns. On each level you have people who are responsible for legislation. Not all of these people are geniuses. The amazing thing is it's one of the best systems out there. Take any country with a comparable amount of land and population, and they don't stack up.
  5. I won every battle, and somehow I ended up starting World War III... Looks like I need to start a new game ;-)
  6. Ugh...that better not be the case. Why would you discard the pause option? If you want real-time, just don't hit pause. It doesn't matter though, I'm doubting the credibility of this story completely.
  7. Seriously Volourn...you've taken a positive thread and ruined it with your condescending remarks. On a side note, Luskan looks awesome!
  8. LadyCrimson, if you're having back pains, I'd highly recommend going to a massage therapist. Not a relaxation massage, but a sports massage. A good therapist can really help relieve that pain. I go once a month, and it keeps me from slowing down on the hockey rink.
  9. Nah, they just posted lower than expected earnings...they still made a huge amount of dough off GTA. This is interesting...hopefully it will be a positive relationship. I don't know much about Take-Two.
  10. Sweet, better make sure my Tivo is set
  11. The In Living Color comment was awesome, I immediately pictured the skit.
  12. I don't even think GLAAD is attacking Shalit or calling for his job. Clearly he's not some uptight guy looking to bash gays. But the choice of his words seemed careless, and GLAAD is making that known. I bet Shalit will eventually clarify his review, although he has no obligation to do so.
  13. Odd, Space Rangers... Are the planet battles real time? Is it like an RTS? I'm totally confused, even after reading two reviews.
  14. Because I've read quite a few reviews (thanks to this thread) and Lucius stated as much after reading the book.
  15. It definitely is more of the same...it doesn't really break new ground. I actually never got S3, so that might explain its great appeal to me. I actually just really like the tough spots it puts me in. Right now I'm on a mission where a ton of allied tropps are attacking my 6 men in an adandoned farmhouse. The place is literally crumbling as we fight it out.
  16. so.. basically you are waffling? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How am I waffling? I don't enjoy the genre that the movie is in. If I did see it, my review would be something like "It's a lame romance." I would not call someone a sexual predator because he's pursuing a love interest. That's the complaint that GLAAD has with Shalit. It also seems pretty evident that Heath Ledger is a willing participant in the romance, he just doesn't want to go public with it. That's a bit different than being stalked by a sexual predator.
  17. I've played a big chunk of the game through with a surgeon. I was hoping his high intelligence would allow me to talk my way out of some jams, but that has not been the case. So far, I've had a lot of combat, but I know I'm not doing things as well as I could. It's really important to maintain disguises and keep the peace. I have a squad of allied troops literally hunting me down because I was a bit too violent. Someone posted a big plot diagram, which is amazing given the complexity of the game, and I'm on the losers path *wink* -Sneak, and use the cover of night -Wear proper uniforms and get papers in order. I had serious trouble with this. I wish you could leave squad members at home, because I never had enough uniforms. Maybe you can find a fix for this. -Sanders is extremely deadly with a knife. I've had her take out two soldiers at once on a sneak through. -Watch your weight. Don't hold on to everything, there will be more weapons. Alternately, just strip weapons of their ammo, if it matches your preferred weapon. -Pistols can be concealed, all other guns and grenades freak the police out.
  18. This is a civil rights movement. Ask yourselves whether you want to be the open minded fellow who believes no one deserves discrimination and prejudiced stereotypes, or if you want to be on the other side of the fence. I've spent a lot of time studying civil rights movements. Years of my life, actually. It's a subject that gets my blood up, because I can't imagine why anyone would stand against the ideas of equality. People point to religion, to human nature, and to the survival of civilization in order to justify their discrimination. But there is nothing civilized about contempt, intolerance, and standing in judgement of others.
  19. But homosexuality cannot be purely genetical either since natural selection would have killed it eventually. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If it's a dormant trait that appears in 10-15% of people, then it would not be difficult for it to survive. Also, being gay does not mean you can't reproduce. But seriously, if you don't think genetics have a bit to do with it, why do you think people choose this lifestyle? It's not a few oddballs choosing to be different, it's a big chunk of the population. 10% isn't a tiny number. Why would 10% of the people in this world choose to be discriminated against and treated like second class citizens?
  20. Make up your mind, is it a choise or what? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Genetically, it's a dormant trait that can be triggered. That much is scientifically shown, but what triggers the trait is a bit more unclear. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to that. The Catholic church has accepted this scientific fact, although it doesn't accept the lifestyle of course. There is a ton of literature out there on the subject. Here's a site that seems fairly impartial to me: http://www.societyandgenetics.ucla.edu/mothernature.htm The choice isn't about being gay or not, the choice is whether you accept being gay. Many gay people who have tried to live straight lives will tell you that they felt they were lying to themselves. The choice is whether they want to be happy, or they want to conform to "normal" sociatal standards. Again, I think it takes quite a bit of courage to choose to be themselves.
  21. McLaren just demolished that guy. Hip checks are not easy to do, but that was just an unbelievable hit. I'm not a big fan of hitting, I get hit too much in my own leagues, but that one gets my utmost respect.
  22. That was my first reaction...but after reading the review, I see the point that GLAAD is making. I don't have any interest in seeing the movie. It looks like a lame romance movie, and I avoid those types of movie as often as possible. But there is a double standard here. The one character is being labeled a sexual predator by Gene Shalit. Every other review I've seen paints this as a tragic romance. But to say that Jake Gyhhenal (or whatever the spelling) is a sexual predator because he pursues Heath Ledger is a total double standard. When a male pursues a female on screen, it's called romance, if it's male on male, it suddenly becomes a criminal issue. A couple guys here seem pretty freaked out about a gay man hitting on them. Let me ask you this, if a woman you find unattractive hits on you, do you feel the need to bash her skull in? Seriously, no one is forcing you to sleep with them, so relax. I'm completely comfortable with my sexuality, so I don't see what there is to get worked up about. Also, if you think people choose to be gay, you really need to think about what a difficult life it is. Statistics show that 10% of the population is gay, so I really doubt there are just a ton of people who enjoy being discriminated against. It's a tough life to lead, and anyone who chooses it has my admiration and support.
  23. Yeah, that news post was from September of 2002. Maybe if we do an online petition we can get Firaxis to aknowledge there plans. Honestly though, if Pirates did well financially, they probably will go forward with a new Xcom. It seems like Pirates did good, but it's hard to tell in this day and age.
  24. It's true that he wouldn't be branded a sexual predator if Heath Ledger's character was a woman. I'm glad they are taking him to task on this. Homophobia is a serious problem in this country.
  25. Monkey Island 4 (The Secret of Monkey Island?) was 3-D. It's about 4 years old now. It was a decent game, very good graphics and all, but it got bogged down. It was like they drew the gags out to give you a full 30-40 hours of gameplay. The original Monkey Island was perfect, and it was only about 6 hours long. When you try to drag the same jokes out for 30 hours, they don't do well.
