  1. Uh...the point of this thread is that a 360 is going to be bought regardless of all the console bashers. It was just a question of what package. Oddly enough, when I see a thread about something I'm not into, I don't go into it. I know I know, odd concept.
  2. Get the bigger hard drive. I use my hard drive all the time. Every demo I've downloaded is also over 512 mb., so you'd be missing out on that opportunity.
  3. Lord of the Rings Online is actually one of the best written games I've played bar none. The epic quest line is as good or better than most single player RPG's I've played.
  4. 28 Weeks Later - Not nearly as good as the original. I was pretty baffled by the military decisions in the movie. It was basically one odd decision after another. Did they even have an evacuation plan? Why are choppers shooting at cars if the infected can't drive? Why put a huge crowd of unaffected people in a room with flimsy doors and then leave almost no guards at those doors? Why were all the doors so easy to break down? Why leave someone you've tied down with restraints completely alone when obviously they should be closely guarded? Eh, it was just odd all around.
  5. Me too. Damn, it looks gorgeous, it plays gorgeous. Yerli was right when he said console shooters (I look at you Bioshock) are 5 years behind. It's just a shame that I have to play it with low Shadows, med textures, and 1024 res to get somewhat decent framerates. This game deserves to be played on a QuadCore/DX10 rig. Getting it on release and playing it with compromised settings vs. waiting a half year for my new rig and playing it with everything up, that's just a tough thing to decide! Consoles fall behind in the tech race about ten minutes after the console company begins thinking about releasing one. But the Wii has shown that a console doesn't need to be high tech to serve its purpose.
  6. I just beat Portal and it was awesome. Despite it's very short length, I'd say that alone was worth the price of the Orange Box. The ending song was simply priceless. I also thought the gameplay time was perfect, much longer would have made me tired of the puzzles.
  7. The camera takes awhile to get used to. It's not great and has occassional hickups, but I'd hardly consider it a deal breaker. After a couple hours, it's pretty easy to keep the camera out of trouble. There are also quite a few options now for camera adjustment. Load times are way better than they were at launch.
  8. Against my better judgement, I have joined the group.
  9. It's totally true. Mats Sundin faces off alone against entire NHL squads every night. Sure, he dies in the end, but it's impressive along the way.
  10. Can we discuss the Witcher please? I don't believe it's been released. It's clearly vaporware, and this is just another ruse.
  11. That's not the last battle. It's really only about halfway through the game actually. And honestly, if you've yet to play it, it's not much of a spoiler. You don't know who Lorne is or anything about his storyline, so nothing has really been revealed.
  12. I'm going to hold off until it's around $30 or Episode 2 is around $15... Always have a game in back up in case the one you are playing fails. DS failed in keeping my attention. Back to basics. And Bloodlines is a great game to fall back on... Wow...the Orange box is already ridiculously cheap considering everything that is in it. TF2 and Portal alone are worth the $50.
  13. I'm sure once they have a few modules, they'll do a full re-release of the game like they did with NWN.
  14. Wow, Toews is a talented kid. He'll definitely be a top goal scorer in the upcming years. He also might be the frontrunner for rookie of the year honors.
  15. Well you do, if you play EA-games. As for EA catering to RPG connaisseurs and those with a taste for quality and innovation - not in a million years. J. Wow. Are you roleplaying now, or do you really buy into this haughty, high and mighty, superiority schtick you got going?
  16. I like the way Boston is playing this season. They look hunfry and desperate, and Thomas is playing surprisingly well in goal. If they keep it up, I think they'll manage a playoff appearance.
  17. You were gone? Er, I mean, of course we missed you! The NHL thread has been quiet without you
  18. It's so tiresome hearing folks go on about how great games used to be. Sure, there are genres that don't get much love anymore, but there are also some amazing things happening with new games today. There also is nothing wrong with playing games that most people want to play, that's the entire reason that most people want to play them. I have some obscure tastes, I still pine for a good Xcom and Quest for Glory, but I don't go around with a chip on my shoulder about successful FPS and sports games and the people who play them. I'm just excited to see the gaming industry doing as well as it is. I'm not even a Halo fan, but I still celebrated the fact that it had a huge opening weekend that dwarfed the movies. As a fan of games, that's great news. So stay positive because really, negative thinking about the whole EA/Bioware deal won't do anything to change the situation.
  19. I'm so excited, I hope I can name my character Winger, after the awesome Canadian rock band.
  20. Don't expect much. I just finished it. I hate mmo's after WoW but now that I look back it was a pretty decent game compared to Hellgate. I won't say hellgate London sucks becuase I played it for like 40 minutes and combat was mildly amusing but I definitely could not see this game for very much longer. The 3 different places you are transported to are strikingly the exact same with a few little doodads here and there. The graphics are pretty bleak and depressing and I was begining to get sick of it with so little gameplay as it is. WoW is a much better game conceptually, graphically, and other lly's as well. The user interface is pretty lame compared to WoW as well. But I think it's exactrly like diablo in more aspects than just "fitting" your items in your bag and combat but I wouldn't know since I never played diablo but that game is like a billion years old. Don't know why you'd want to revert backwards. All in all Hellgate demo was alright just executed pretty bad in my opinion. Will definitely not be picking this up. It crashed a few seconds in. It was also running badly anyways, which considering the dreamy CoD4 runs fine and this game is fairly ugly, makes no sense to me. I might give it another try if I'm in the mood for a crash later tonight.
  21. Downloading the London: Hellgate demo. We'll see, I'm skeptical but I'd love a pleasant surprise.
  22. Clearly you've never seen Metalocalpyse. Or Tenacious D. I didn't think Tim Schafer would be the type to hop on bandwagons. Early word is that it's going to be a God of War clone with "squad combat" elements. And one would guess, leftover Metalocalypse plots and humor. Hopefully the kind of mouth-breather that would go for that sort of thing will buy enough copies for Schafer to make something worth playing. The second Fantastic Four movie had a good trailer too. To be fair, it's more of a niche market. It's not like Metalocalypse and Tenacious D are watched and listened by millions upon millions of people. Exactly. That's a pretty tiny bandwagon he's jumping on. The fact is we really haven't had a video game that was metal, so it's still very unique.
  23. I'm doing the same thing, playing through the regular NWN2 campaign as a Blade whatever in order to get ready for the expansion. I made it to act III last time, but I lost my saves somehow and I want to finish before starting the expansion.
  24. Toskala would have won the game for Toronto
  25. Yeah, it's a good deal of income. Although most MMO's don't rake in that much, in fact quite a few basically break even after factoring in all the costs associated with running an MMO.
