Shari'ah varies from country to country, and it's often based on very different interpretations of the Qu'ran. Like the bible, the Qu'ran can be interpreted in many different ways, and unfortunately many leaders of Muslim countries have twisted the interpretations to suppress women's rights. The Qu'ran is actually pretty specific about the fact that men and women should be equal, but that doesn't stop certain groups from ignoring that and clinging onto other passages as proof women should be hidden away.

While they are few and far between, games like The Witcher, MotB, and even Mass Effect keep me pretty happy about being a gamer in this day and age.

M games that would have been better rated AO
Hurlshort replied to Calax's topic in Computer and Console
Mature folks also aren't really interested in getting a stiffy every time they play a game, either. Wow, you are so wrong. How many art films have you watched that didn't revolve around sex? What about Barry White music? And what art gallery doesn't have a few nudes in there? These are all very mature things to see, at least I've been told. They are boring to me, but I'm not mature. Well, Barry White is cool. -
But, if I remember correctly, cannot you only romance female aliens when playing as a female? Liara'll romance any PC regardless of sex, whereas Ash and Kaidan are straight shooters. The voice guy for Kaidan and Carth is like the Eric Stoltz of the video game world. He's slept with everyone.

Actually, I believe if games would cut down on the violence, they'd probably have an easier time introducing nudity and sexual content without getting crucified by the media and politicians. Violence is actually where game show their immaturity. Mature folks don't really have an interest in shooting hundreds of creatures and getting really neat blood spray patterns. -
Blizzard and Activision to become dreaded mega-studio

I like your attitude! -
It's just like Call of Duty, but when the poop starts flying, it's even more intense. I had originally planned on getting COD4 on my PC, but you guys are making me question that decision.

Well, hopefully this ridiculous protest will serve to move the millions of peaceful muslims into a more active role of protecting their religion from extremists groups.

Now you just plug a wireless adapter into a USB 2.0 slot. It's supposed to work pretty good, although I won't see for myself until my new PC comes in.

The only games I've managed to finish over the last couple years are Bioware ones.

It actually convince me to buy a couple of the books. They weren't half bad.

I don't think his user name does much to support his legitimate case.

Well, I do expect a different journalistic slant when reading an official product magazine and a rag like PG Gamer. But the real reason I read magazines is for the pretty pictures and monthly gossip on what's going on in the game industry. It's not the Wall Street Journal, it's a magazine about games.

Wait a sec... if this rumor is true, it means that reviewers can be trusted. This guy lost his job to bring us an honest review, according to the story. Three cheers for journalistic integrity!

xbox360 - what about the 3 rings of death?
Hurlshort replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Skeeter's Junkyard
Xbox Live has become extremely good over the last year. At first it was just a smattering of arcade titles and a few video clips, but now it really does give you access to a ton of content, and the arcade games are top notch. Also, the network capabilities with my PC are greatly improved since I originally subscribed. I'm sure someday Sony will get there with it's "Home" service (or whatever its MMO type interface is called.) It sounds really neat, but they have a long way to go, and they haven't really implemented many of the features I find interesting. I'll also be surprised if they still offer it for free, but the system is pricier so I suppose they make up a bit there. -

Uh, it's $50 a year or $7 a month. Go mow a lawn or something. -
I think it's important to put the NVA's "victory" into perspective. The US didn't really lose the war, they pulled out. Where they really lost was in the public's perception of the war. The Tet Offensive was seen as a defeat by the American public, but in actuality it was a huge gamble by a desperate NVA and it failed to capture and hold any real ground. But defensive wars are difficult to end, and who knows when North Vietnam would have backed off? When you go into a defensive war and say "I will only defend for this many years" it gives the attacker a pretty nice advantage. Heck, after the US pulled out of Vietnam, it still took the NVA two years to roll into the South and depose the government. That's a good indicator of how weakened they were.

Ok, Halo is not my cup of tea. Sorry Nick and Llyr, it was just boring me to death. Things were moving around so fast, I barely knew what was going on, and I really didn't care all that much either. Looks like I'll be sticking to Carcassone and TMNT. I ll give that rocket raaaaace thing a try, I suppose, but I'm really glad I didn't buy a copy of Halo 3.

I love my 360, and I've had absolutely zero glitches with it. -
Pop speaks truth about Ho Chi Minh. China never really got on well with him because of his nationalism. He was a very interesting character. But don't forget that the US evacuated a lot of Vietnamese people before the NVA marched south. To those folks, the US being in Vietnam was a blessing and they've now established their own small communities in states across America. There is always about a dozen sides to any story, I suppose.

You could take headphones with you... I imagine that makes it harder to pretend you are working...

Impossible to tell yet. I'm 12 hours in at Mass Effect and i only played The Witcher about 20 minutes or so. Maybe by xmas i will know They are incredibly different RPG experiences. I'd say Mass Effect is a more polished product overall. It's got a great engaging story and fun, fast combat. The Witcher is a deeper game though, with a very dark atmosphere that really engaged me. It requires more strategy before a fight, whereas ME is about responding in the fight. I don't know, they are both jut awesome.

I now have Halo 3, got it this weekend. Unfortunately I'm addicted to ME, so I've yet to try it out. Maybe this weekend if we have time I can get into a MP match.

It's pretty much impossible to put into words how I feel about my daughter. It's not easy being a parent in the least, and I know the hardest years are yet to come, but it's a complete shift in mentality. I see the world in a very different way now, my priorities are completely re-arranged. It's the most rewarding work ever.
