  1. If you are concerned about immersion, maybe you should make the logical choice and not take a Geth into the Citadel in the first place. You are the one making the dumb choice there, don't blame the developers for not being able to create new content for every lamebrain scenario.
  2. Yes, but MW2 sold a huge amount based on the merits of the original MW.
  3. I'm fairly excited about the Giants this season. Hopefully they will be able to come up with a bit more power to go along with the stellar pitching. I also think the Dodgers might take a step back, which will give them a better chance at the division.
  4. I believe my favorite one was FFIV on the SNES. It's been a long time. I think you start in a mine, and there is an Opera at one point. It was pretty epic.
  5. I really enjoyed Fallout 3 as well. In fact, when it was released, most of the regulars here were very happy with how it turned out. Over time some have become bitter, and then there are the new folks that came over with the FO:NV announcement. Pretty standard reaction to anything that is popular. Next up on the cool to bash list is Avatar.
  6. That's a bit harsh. It is a very strong multiplayer shooter that has introduced a leveling system to keep people interested longer than a few rounds. It might not be the best shooter out there, but it was the first to really capture the treadmill design of an MMO in a FPS game, and they reaped the rewards from that.
  7. Thanks to JA2, the Dragunov is easily my favorite gun ever.
  8. I thought the scanning game was meh. It was fairly fast to build up enough resources to get the main upgrades, so I don't see why there is much fuss about it. The Mako took a lot more time, although there were some cool Mako moments, where the scanner is never really exciting.
  9. Did you happen to read that in "A History of Warfare" by John Keegan?
  10. Think not? The Kelo case it was litigated for five years before the court awarded the property to the city. During the time the city was injoined from developing the property, the houses still stood, the people still lived in them. After the decision the City evicted the people, bulldozed the houses and then sued to homeowners for five years of back rent. Not only did they lose everything, they founf themselves tens of thousands of dallars in debt, to say nothing of swamped in legal bills from the fight. Some mercy huh. You ever had to deal with the IRS Hurlie? You are utterly at their mercy and you would find their mercy lacking. Right now out in Wyoming and Colorado the US Government is using Emminent Domain to seize privately owned ranchlands and add to a federal WMA. I am watching that one very closely because my home borders the Anderson Tully WMA on the entire southern property line. If they try to seize my home they had best be prepared to kill me for it. Because, by God in heaven, I will fight to keep it. Oh, you never should fight to keep the land, that will almost always be a loss. You can fight to get a decent value for the property, however.
  11. There is quite a bit of recourse in the US you can go through if the government siezes your land. It still isn't pretty, but you are not completely at their mercy.
  12. So is there a scenario here where the government will look at your grocery bill, and then offer health care based on your diet? Awesome!
  13. So that sounds wonderful, the CDC can work with grocery chains to help limit the damage a bad batch of food can do. How is that intrusive?
  14. Those are fairly gigantic things. Roads alone require a huge amount of work and maintenance.
  15. While I'm not going to hold my breath, the fact that this new developer got full IP rights is hopefully a good sign, as that means Strategy First should have little opportunity to screw the pooch. Definitely worth watching. Although I am a bit concerned that it will end up being a German release only, given the trouble finding NA publishers for turn-based games. JA2 was released in Germany for quite a while before it finally got NA distribution. Still, if they can just get the translations done, they can probably work out a deal with Steam or another digital distributor. edit: Apparently bitcomposer published the recent STALKER game, and I've seen that everywhere, so hopefully that bids well too. I'm still not sure about the development team though.
  16. The Show is the only reason I want a PS3 Do you use/like the similar mode they have for NHL? The Show kind of puts the NHL player mode to shame. I played the NHL one first and loved it, but after playing The Show and going back to the NHL be a pro, I didn't enjoy it as much. So now I'm just playing franchise mode with the NHL games, which is still great. The Show just has a ton of personality, you really feel like you are slowly blossoming as an MLB prospect. The minor league system and spring training all have a lot of polish.
  17. I'm starting to see the ball better in MLB 10 the show. I am batting about .350 in AA ball. I even hit my first homer, an exciting game winner in the bottom of the 13th.
  18. We also could end up with a society where very few corporations run everything if we didn't have certain controls in place. Small businesses already face enough obstacles, without legal recourse they are pretty much sitting ducks. Take a look at Tivo and its dealing with Dish and DirectTV.
  19. You don't actually have to watch Avatar in 3D. It is still a very impressive movie in 2D.
  20. MLB 10 The Show - I'm trying to work my way into the AA team as an every day player. So far it's been pretty tough to pinch hit well enough.
  21. Sand that was not an option. Assume the two are mutually exclusive (as in you cannot have a balance, you can have one or the other). But they are not mutually exclusive, and it feels more like a trap question than a philosophical one.
  22. I think Killian is blossoming as a comedic talent.
  23. Well, hockey is one of the few sports that has a ton of amateur adult leagues to play in. When you start missing the sport, I hope you'll look into joining a beer league. There are also a lot of tourneys out there for amateurs. You can basically play hockey up until the day you die, if you want to, and that is one of the reasons I love it. I actually look forward to joining the over-35 league in a few years, and we even have an active over-50 league at our rink. So I get not wanting to have it take over your life in college, but I hope you haven't lost all your passion for it. I took a few breaks from hockey when I was in college myself, it's an expensive hobby. Usually I'd get about 6 months in and then I'd be dying to get back on the ice. edit: Today I was grading card game projects for my students, and while they played the game, I looked up the websites they created for the games on my Droid phone. That way I was able to grade both the physical game and the web pages at the same time without lugging my laptop around. It was awesome.
  24. You are dead to me Krookie. Just don't give up on the NHL thread college boy.
  25. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100306/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_iran So apparently the President of Iran is calling 9/11 a big lie. Now you have video of the event and you have a group claiming credit for the event. I can understand him going after the War on Terror and all that, as it hasn't been all that effective at wiping out Al Queda, but this is fairly delusional stuff, up there with his Holocaust stance. The really disturbing part is you have a highly placed politician feeding bold faced lies to his entire country. The US has a lot of misinformation floating around, but if a president was this delusional he'd be impeached in a day.
