  1. Sure, but he's clever. Actually I think the book "The Ugly American" might fit the discussion better.
  2. It depends on what type of community building they are doing. I'd say it is pretty helpful to go out and build houses and stuff. It may not make a gigantic difference to the country as a whole, but the family that gets to live in a house will be pretty danged happy.
  3. Dang, this isn't a discussion of Graham Greene novels
  4. The peer relationship versus parent upbringing number seems pretty hard to believe.
  5. You realize the figure is a giant right? I'm not sure why anyone would realize that, he doesn't have a sign that says Giant. It does make more sense with that information though.
  6. You do realize that socialist health care is bad, don't you? I could sit here and prove you wrong all day, but it's midnight, I worked all day, and I don't want to derail this topic. There are quite a few countries with socialist health care systems that do quite well, so maybe you could lay off the condescension a bit. Rather than just taking a broad brush and painting an entire idea bad, why don't you try and explain why a socialist health care system will not work in Peru? For example, I can explain why a socialist health care system would not do well in the US. As Krezack already mentioned, I doubt many of us know enough about Peru to make a very educated political decision.
  7. It's been a long few days, and it will continue until I finish up the school year on Tuesday. Yesterday we had a reward day for the school at an amusement park, and I brought my daughter along. It was great fun and she got to ride on a bus for the first time. Today I had work and then a wedding rehearsal dinner. Tomorrow I've got Saturday School and then the wedding. I'm tired, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel so that is good. I also was supposed to have grades in this morning, but I still have one class unfinished. I'll finish it at Saturday School and deal with the stern look from the grading administrator.
  8. In school I spent a decent amount of time with Piaget's stages of child development. It has been a long time since I looked at it though, but when I have the time I'll see if I can find my old book on it.
  9. Gah, Drowsy Emperor is Boo, how did I not pick up on that? I like the new name Boo.
  10. Did he bribe you guys with Steam games or something? Good luck Tale!
  11. Pilots don't exactly have a say in what they bomb. If you want to hold someone accountable, it is the person who orders the bombing. And I haven't heard of many stories about snipers picking off children, so I'm not sure why they get the death sentence. They are typically given a specific target or group to focus on.
  12. If we are talking Russian writers, everyone should read Master and Margarita by Bulgakov.
  13. Obsidian should make an Alien RPG, that would be awesome!
  14. Bummer about the bike TN, hopefully they can find it.
  15. I guess it is cool that Freedom Fighter has pride in his country, but he seems really hung up on this whole competition thing.

Not anytime soon, I'd imagine. The economy will need to recover first.

Well, Minnesota did the same thing, and they seem to be doing well enough with their franchise.
  18. I love the Harry Potter is grim dark stuff, that was great. It really does get progressively darker. From the end of book 4 on it is really not suited for children.
  19. That really doesn't look that bad mrkreku. You should be fine to run on it.
  20. I'm quite surprised that there hasn't been more of a push to get a FPS with a subscription model. There was that game Planetside back in the day, but the shooter market has skyrocketed since then, and I think blending Call of Duty with an MMO is a pretty decent recipe for success. I'm guessing it's just a matter of implementation, so this is probably a little testing the waters before a full blown MMO shooter.
  21. I thought Far Cry 2 was beautiful, but an entire country of people trying to kill me that also respawn way too quick was not a fun environment. I spent some time hoping for a mod that would get rid of the spawn rate, but it never materialized.
  22. That actually concerns me a bit. Risen was fairly small, but it also meant a tighter and more focused game than Gothic 3. I hope they don't lose that when they expand it.
  23. I got an odd virus today, it pretended to be my Vista Security settings and then whenever I tried to enable the firewall it tried to charge me. I have anti-virus software (AVG) installed, so I was a bit taken aback that I picked it up. I did a system restore and got everything cleaned up, but I'm not sure where I even got it, so that is concerning.

Just in case anyone want the results: Mkreku - I couldn't find your guesses for the last round. Me - 9/14 Kor - 8/14 Volo - 8/14 Krook - 5/10 So we all got one right and one wrong in the last round.

I'm pretty excited that we have two teams in the finals that don't get there very often. Boston has had a very long dry spell, and Vancouver has never won the cup. My pick is Vancouver in 6.
